I wanted to have written my first book before i was 30. With two months to go until my birthday I am pleased to say I have accomplished my goal with “Shop at Dole’s: Tales from aisle 9” a fictional collection of work stories from a grocery store manager. I am hoping to self publish it in hard copy and ebook formats and (hopefully) make a bit of money from it.

Jalapenos don’t burn. They add a little bit of heat, but not enough to actually “burn”…too many make for a bit of indigestion though (I set that limit somewhere around 30).

The slug population is finally starting to catch up, I have a few of them around but as far as I can tell the frog population is maybe 2 or 3. I have about 100 tadpoles growing legs now and they’ll soon be out and about. The slugs don’t seem do bother the quinoa much anyways.

Hmmm,,,,, I also noticed there’s another cartoon outrage brewing….
‘Islamic Mickey Mouse’ provokes anger in Egypt

Hardline Islamists have reacted with fury after a millionaire Egyptian telecoms mogul posted online cartoons of Mickey and Minnie Mouse wearing Islamic clothes.

The pictures, which were published by the high-profile businessman-turned-politician Naguib Sawiris, showed Mickey Mouse with an Islamic-style beard and his fictional wife, Minnie, wearing a face veil. Since being circulated a few days ago they have provoked ire among Egypt’s Salafists – followers of a fundamentalist branch of Islam that has become increasingly visible after the uprisings this year.

Sorry I haven’t been around last couple days, been focused on a once-a-year event, the The Mario Marathon. Figure that, with a few gamers in the crowd, as well as folks who appreciate charities, I might go ahead and link to this. A group of friends have been playing the Super Mario games from the last 25 years back to back, which they started on streaming live Friday, and have already raised over $106k for the Child’s Play charity, which raises money to buys toys and games for children in hospitals worldwide.

That’s BS. It’s true the US was not put on a true war footing, but there’s no cause for that. The days of full-scale mobilization and mass armies are over. Well equipped troops are now too expensive to field in such numbers.

According to this page…

“Petroleum subsidies are something less than $1 billion a year – six to eight times less than ethanol subsidies”

That would suggest that Ethanol Subsidies are 8 Billion a year at the most multiplied by 10 years is $88 Billion… and Afghanistan is getting close to costing us

Given that the cost of our current wars are over 1.2 Trillion dollars [Link: costofwar.com…] that’s a gap of 1.12 Trillion more dollars we need to come up with… but thank you for at least taking some steps toward putting your money/math where your mouth is.

STRASBOURG, France, June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — In a capitulation to Islamic supremacists and violent radical Leftists, French and European Union authorities have canceled a free speech rally planned by a coalition of American and European human rights organizations in Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament.

[…]

SIOA Executive Director Pamela Geller said in a statement: “The Strasbourg police could not guarantee our safety. When the thugs of the Antifa group and Islamic supremacist organizations announced plans to hold a violent counter-demonstration and to do everything they could to disrupt our activities, the authorities canceled permission for our demonstration and conference, instead of standing up to these violent neo-fascists and their Islamic supremacist allies.”

Maureen O’Connor - Piper Palin Runs Interference for Her Mother

Piper Palin is my favorite Palin. Sure, Bristol’s plasticine attention-seeking is fun—and Willow’s willful disobedience shows promise—but the littlest Palin daughter won my heart licking babies and carrying knock-off Vuitton back in 2008.

Now on her mother’s One Nation bus tour, Piper is a master of the stink-eye and a pro at media relations. Here’s a video from Philadelphia’s Fox affiliate showing Piper running interference for her mother. As a reporter extends his microphone to Sarah, Piper turns her 9-year-old self into a human wedge, forcing the reporter away from her mother.

Hers is the unyielding determination of a young Dick Cheney. The barely concealed malice of a young Karl Rove! You’ve got a bright future, kid. [MyFoxPhilly]

The comment on Think Progress as great.

But mostly, the whole kerfuffle is a reminder of how hopelessly cheesy it is for the super-square people who run for president to try to score a hugely choreographed and unspontaneous process with popular music. Unless, of course, Jon Stewart is DJing:

I’m not saying she is some innocent, she not. But I do think that some asshole took advantage of her and mistreated her for his own selfish reasons. And I have some sympathy for her due to that.

No offense Dark, but you sound like a father who has a daughter who doesn’t want to think of her or any teenage girl as a sexual being who gets horny and curious about sex and perhaps even likes sex. Teenage girls do get taken advantage of, but sometimes what’s taken advantage of is the fact that teen aged girls get horny too.

If I were Pam, I’d be having second thoughts about hanging around with my far-right European pals in France, when just a couple of doors down in the Netherlands the Dutch are halfway towards banning kosher & halal animal sacrifice, as Alexander posted earlier downstairs.

I guess she can’t see past her hate.

Seriously, you consider support of this to be hate? (from the link)

It stipulates that livestock must be stunned before being slaughtered, contrary to the Muslim halal and Jewish kosher laws that require animals to be fully conscious.

I don’t support the Jewish or the Islam dedication to primitive tradition about totally unnecessary cruelty to animals. Do you?

208 Slumbering Behemoth Stinks  Tue, Jun 28, 2011 8:10:23pm

A married woman takes a lover home during the day while her husband is at work. Her 9-year old son comes home unexpectedly and when he sees them he decides to hide in the bedroom closet and watch.

Shortly thereafter the woman’s husband also comes home, and so her lover hides in the closet not realizing that the little boy is already in there.

The little boy says, “Dark in here.”

The man replies, “Yes, it is.”

The little boy then asks “I have a baseball, would you like to buy it”?

The man replies “Umm.. sure. How much”?

Boy: “$250”

Man: “What?!?! That’s way too much for a baseball”!

Boy: “My dad is just out there, maybe we should ask him how much it’s worth”.

Man: “Fine! Here’s your $250, you little extortionist”!

A few weeks later, that the boy and his mother’s lover are in the closet together, again.

Boy: “Dark in here.”

Man: “Yes, it is.”

Boy: “I have a baseball glove, would you like to buy it”?

The lover, remembering the last time, asks the boy “How much?”

Boy: “$750”

Man: “Fine. Here’s your money”.

That following Sunday the dad says to his boy, “Grab your glove and your ball, let’s go outside and have a game of catch.”

The boy says, “I can’t, I sold my baseball and my glove.”

The dad asks, “How much did you sell them for?”

“$1,000” the boy says, while showing his dad the money.

The dad says, “That’s terrible to overcharge your friends like that; that is way, way more than those things are worth. I’m taking you to church so you can confess your sin”.

They go to the church and Dad makes the boy sit in the confessional booth and closes the door.

The boy says, “Dark in here.”

The priest says, “Don’t start that shit again; you’re in my closet now!”

You know when AMD moved memory management from the North Bridge right onto the chip it was pure genius…Why mess with BUS Speed issues?
I’d say the first hall of fame chip for gaming was the FX57.. Lightning fast..
All Intel could do was paste dual cores at cheap prices..But could never match the pipes or management speed for gaming…Ah The FX57..Those were the days

In fact, I love companies like SOE, EA, and lately, CCP, for pissing off the neckbeards and making them rage. I haven’t played MMOs in over a year. I basically had a choice— I could play an MMO or I could go to grad school. I couldn’t do both, so I quit. My gaming these days is the occasional round of Borderlands on the 360, casual Facebook browser games to kill time at work, and stuff on the XBox Live Arcade.

Still, the message boards for MMOs are hilarious because of all the people who get into the neckbeard rage mode over the dumbest things. It’s like watching the idiots at Hot Air flip their shit over the latest outrageous outrage, but with fewer headaches for me. ;)
