Dems being soft on crime while the GOP puts more guns on the street
Dems are running a pedophile ring, after a former GOP leader was grooming congressional pages

re: #48 PhillyPretzel

I’m not so sure…. I have a quietly confident POV on what may happen. I look back to the actual elections that have taken place… Kansas, the abortion referendum was defeated SOUNDLY, NY special election went Dem, Alaska went to the Democrat and all of the polling is seemingly desperate to ensure that they don’t “show bias”, so the samplings and the questions have been called into question based on the framing and narratives.

Sure, there are a LOT of folks out there who seemingly are swayed by the usual GOP scare tactics regarding guns, immigrants, crime etc etc etc and the economy and all of it sans context like they prefer, but I think Roe and Dobbs PISSED a lot of people off, people who usually aren’t tapped into the polling process and if the voter registration numbers are any indication, I don’t think those that are registering are slam dunk GOP voters.

The Dem blogs I hang out in are all doing grunt work to get boots on the ground and getting people registered and to the polls by funding those organizations that do the boots (like how you could say that Arizona elections in 2020 pivoted on the Navajo nation vote, which turned out big time).

Am I concerned… sure, as always when you have entire media construct that is more concerned with selling concern clicks than actually informing the voters and naturally you have to think about the fact that media exists to make money selling ads to businesses to promote their products, not exactly the clientele that gives a shit if people can afford their apartment rent, much less their groceries.

Edit: misread your question. I think they’ve taken the grift about as far as it can go with Facebook, hence the pivot to Meta. Investors disagree, which is a problem.

Creating a persistent virtual environment where they can sell the users digital items via an artificial scarcity scheme. That’s the grift, and it could be very profitable. It’s already been proven that people will pay for cosmetic items in games. They’ll probably be even more willing when they can display those items in their virtual home.

From USA Today

Hobby Lobby founder says he’s giving away his company because ‘wealth is a curse’

Hobby Lobby founder David Green announced through an Oct. 21 op-ed at Fox News that he’s giving up his company, and that he “chose God” over wealth.

Green credited his faith and higher power as the “true source” of his success, noting that “God was the true owner of my business,” and felt that passing the company down to his children and grandchildren would’ve been the wrong move.

“As an owner, there are certain rights and responsibilities, including the right to sell the company and keep the profits for yourself and your family,” Green wrote. “As our company grew, that idea began to bother me more and more. Well-meaning attorneys and accountants advised me to simply pass ownership down to my children and grandchildren. It didn’t seem fair to me that I might change or even ruin the future of grandchildren who had not even been born yet.
“When I realized that I was just a steward, it was easy to give away my ownership,” added, Green, whose net worth is $14 billion according to Forbes.

The news comes after Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard gave up his company a month earlier as a means to fight the climate crisis.

In a separate interview with Fox & Friends, Green said 100% of the company’s voting stock has been moved to a trust. Separate details of how he’s giving away the company were not revealed.

“Wealth can be a curse and, in most cases, if you drill down on it, wealth is a curse in terms of marriage, children, and things of that nature,” he said on Fox & Friends. “So we’re stewarding our company and, therefore, our children come to work, and they get what they earn.”

Hobby Lobby has often been intermeshed with national religious news over the last few decades under Green, most recently during the pandemic in 2020 when he opted to leave stores open during COVID-19 risk because everything was “in God’s control.”

I’m glad they didn’t try to pin this on a Muslim’s clothing, and talk about long hair being just as risky when the carts are in this state of disrepair exposing moving parts.

The teenager’s family told the inquest she had only recently started wearing a hijab and did not wear it all the time. They were sure she would have taken it off if told to by staff.

Assistant Coroner Leanne Woods has now issued a report warned that Capital Karts users with headscarves and long hair are still at risk, more than a year after the fatal accident.

AI capability with video will get scary in a few more years. It will be hard for many people to tell real from manipulated video and audio.

This is the big ethical issue over these tools.

It’ll also become very useful. An AI trained with photos of the people in the video could convert NTSC video to 4K, making a lot of blurry old TV more accessible to young people.

I like FB for communicating with family and friends, seeing pictures, finding out about important events. The things that people liked from the beginning of FB — but as others here have said, the younger people have migrated to other platforms.

Q: Do young’uns actually even look at Twitter?

My youngest kids (they are in their 20’s) don’t bother with Faceplant or the twit anymore. They are on to other things. And we just communicate by phone or text. My wife still uses Faceplant quite a bit (but she’s 60).

At least 13 former Trump administration officials violated the law by intermingling campaigning with their official government duties, according to a new federal investigation released Tuesday.
The report from the Office of Special Counsel says the officials broke the law without consequence and with the administration’s approval as part of a “willful disregard for the Hatch Act,” which prohibits government officials from using their official roles to influence elections, including supporting candidates while acting in their official capacities

Americans die younger in conservative states than in those governed by liberals, a new study has found.

The authors wrote: “Simulations indicate that changing all policy domains in all states to a fully liberal orientation might have saved 171,030 lives in 2019, while changing them to a fully conservative orientation might have cost 217,635 lives.”

I was just wondering whether the resources required to attack your server are indicative of a state level actor, a major criminal actor, a low level criminal/ideological actor, or some chud in his mom’s basement with a few programs he scraped off the internet.

No question: GOP candidates will be ahead on Election Night but then the vote count will start to turn on them as mail-in and absentee votes are counted over the course of the night.

They will scream “FRAUD” in one great voice and it will be so loud and insistent that our on-the-spot media will have people convinced that “there must be something behind it because there are so many claims coming from everywhere!”

And that will be the Dress Rehearsal for 2024, in which the GOP will see too it that enough state results are thrown out and invalidated so that neither candidate gains a majority of EC votes, throwing the election to the individual states, which are majority GOP.

And thus endeth the Great Experiment of Representative Democracy in America and we can welcome in The Republic of Gilead.

Seems like a dumb market anyway.

Kanye West’s Yeezy sneakers are flooding the resale market as many collectors unload the footwear in the wake of Adidas’ decision to stop selling the brand after the rapper’s anti-Semitic rants.

Google searches for “sell Yeezy” skyrocketed by nearly 600% worldwide on Oct. 26, the day after Adidas made its announcement, according to a survey commissioned by celebtattler.com.

People from all over the world have flocked to the internet to sell their Yeezy products, either because they no longer wish to support their inventor or because they thought that since Adidas won’t be producing them anymore the value of the items might increase,” a spokesperson for CelebTattler said in a statement.

This will be why he and Trump like each other.

Several people who were once close to the artist formerly known as Kanye West told CNN that he has long been fascinated by Adolf Hitler — and once wanted to name an album after the Nazi leader.

A business executive who worked for West, who now goes by Ye, told CNN that the artist created a hostile work environment, in part through his “obsession” with Hitler.

“He would praise Hitler by saying how incredible it was that he was able to accumulate so much power and would talk about all the great things he and the Nazi Party achieved for the German people,” the individual told CNN.

The executive left his position and reached a settlement with West and some of his companies over workplace complaints, including harassment, which CNN has reviewed. The former executive asked not to be named due to a confidentiality agreement and fear of retribution by West. According to the agreement, West denied the executive’s allegations.

The executive told CNN that West spoke openly about reading “Mein Kampf,” Hitler’s 1925 autobiographical manifesto and expressed his “admiration” for the Nazis and Hitler for their use of propaganda.

Exclusive: Kanye West has a disturbing history of admiring Hitler, sources tell CNN (CNN)

Bus driver is a hero, saved lives by remaining calm.

A man hijacked a New York City bus with a fake gun Thursday morning and crashed it into a utility pole outside an elementary school, a little over a block after the bus driver escaped by jumping out the window, police said.

The 44-year-old suspect, who police did not publicly identify, flashed what police said was likely a BB gun at the bus driver of an eastbound Q4 bus at Linden Boulevard and 197th Street, in Queens, from outside the bus before getting on board shortly after 7:20 a.m., police said.

Finally got my Discord account to work. Signed up a couple of years ago but could never get past Verify.

That was using Chrome.

So I finally tried the Discord app, and now I can do things on Discord.

I think Discord is a better option than any TruthSocial or similar attempts at putting people into stovepipes.

At least on Discord there are already enough capabilities to hide in a room with only like-minded, if that is what you want.

Topical discussion boards will also likely remain engaged.

This is why Facebook continues, because on many areas of interest there are many groups for people, e.g. Facebook. If Facebook was only your own friends and news feeds I don’t think it could survive.

The topical interests is what keeps people coming back, if only for low-level engagement.
