Jacob Collier on Solo Piano Accompanied by Gorgeous Sand Art: “Never Gonna Be Alone”

Music • Views: 16,146

YouTube

An improvised piano rendition of Never Gonna Be Alone, recorded at home in my room in London, in the middle of the night. I have been an enormous fan of Fatmir Mura’s sand work for many years, and asked if he wouldn’t mind cooking up a storm to accompany it. I was over the moon when he agreed!

‘Never Gonna Be Alone - Alternate Versions’ EP is out now!

Wasn’t it “low dick energy”? Which carries a different sort of implication, not an explicit size thing.

They need to be victims. The reasoning doesn’t matter.

Sort of like shaming people “rolling coal” is really about shaming their masculinity.

Still have this 45.
My band in 1976-77 did this like a Chuck Berry/Bo Diddley number.
Still bounces around in my head.
Did a part in the middle where only the kick drum did a heartbeat.

No, it was “small dick energy.” I wonder if this is Tate’s (and others in the toxic masculinity industry) own vocabulary along with “beta” and “cuck”. I refuse to do the research as I don’t want to have to take multiple showers to wash off the gross Tateness of it all.

Probably nothing: but: as disgusting as it is that any “fans” might want to defend Andrew Tate and try to make HIM out to be a victim, their arsenal of arguments is - unsurprisingly - likely to be somewhat lame.

On February 26, President Trump boasted that the coronavirus was about to disappear altogether from the United States. “You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero,” he insisted.

A reporter asked him today how that prediction is holding up, given that the United States now has surpassed 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases. Trump insisted he had been right all along.

Well, it will go down to zero, ultimately,” he said.

spy45’s “ban” on travel from China:

The U.S. restrictions that took effect Feb. 2 continued to allow travel to the U.S. from China’s Hong Kong and Macao territories over the past five months. The Associated Press reported that more than 8,000 Chinese and foreign nationals based in those territories entered the U.S. in the first three months after the travel restrictions were imposed.

Additionally, more than 27,000 Americans returned from mainland China in the first month after the restrictions took effect. U.S. officials lost track of more than 1,600 of them who were supposed to be monitored for virus exposure.

There was discussion downstairs about Cheney as Speaker. I think that the House would be reluctant to vote for someone who is not a member. There was idle speculation about Republicans nominating Trump for the position, but that was prior to the failure of the “red wave”. My feeling is that although it’s legal it’s very unlikely that someone who is not a sitting member of the House would be able to get elected to the position. It would be entertaining if Jeffries won.

I’ll repeat what I said New Year’s eve 2018 after too much covfefe:

So here I am on 2018’s eve; a confused and tightly wound riddle ball of forgotten verses, faced again with grim times but always looking forward with indelible hope inscribed like scrimshaw on my very bones — hope for better years and lessened fears, for new song, new cheer, and a tidal wave of joy to pull this jaded crust of rhyme away from tired eyes. Through many bad moments small words and things sustain me - snippets of song, languorous lines to fill my time, half told tales of other times and other verse, obversive and introversive they subvert my sorrows and uplift my head to harry forward regardless of obstacle or woe. So here’s wishing that all my friends, my family, my heroes, and yea, even my villains enjoy a happy and prosperous New Year.”

Fusion here. We’ll have soba noodles (because they’re symbolic of long life in Japan) and salmon. The salmon is a regular gift from an old guy whose wife my wife cared for until she passed away (I need an editor, but I think you get it). His sons go to Alaska all the time to fish. They gift him salmon and then he regifts to my wife—he texts her whenever he has a delivery.

Ok, the latest news on the tire front.

My father and I were unable to budge the lug nuts. Called a tow truck and drove it the 2 ~ 3 miles to the nearest tire shop. They got to it a little bit ago and said, nope, no repair. We have the same brand though for $247.39 (tax/labor/etc included),

Then a guest who was here last night asked how the tire repair was going. I explained it and she pulled a wad of bills out of her purse and said “for the tire”. I thanked her and then went in back where I discovered that I’d just been given the biggest tip in my life - $250!

So, all I’ll have to pay dad back for is the $105.50 for the tow. Better than I expected.

They don’t just use a Webley-Fosberry automatic revolver (“revolvers”, pah) they also use, if I remember correctly, SMLEs.

And, as I had forgotten, M16s, K98ks, MP40s, sterlings and all sorts of random shit in the “Zardoz vomiting guns” bit.

Ah, Zardoz. What a weird film, weird in a good way. I get what Boorman was trying to do, a meditation on what happens when intellect overpowers humanity and humans taste immortality, a film both ambitious and pretentious but at the same time, highly inventive and genuinely original.

It’s a real one-of-a-kind movie.

Before calling it a night, just wanted to share this. A snippet in this article from the Criterion Collection about the most anticipated films of 2023 certainly caught my eye:

July 21 will see the release of two of the year’s headliners, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atom bomb,” and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, featuring Margot Robbie as the doll with the impossible figure and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Tom Cruise will return to save the movies again when Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, opens on July 14. Once Dune: Part Two is released in November, Denis Villeneuve will be free to turn to Rendezvous with Rama, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s 1973 novel about an alien spaceship that enters the solar system in the 2130s. And at some point this year, we’ll see David Lowery’s Peter Pan & Wendy, starring Jude Law as Captain Hook.

Villeneuve plans to make Rendezvous with Rama.

Shut up and take my money.

When my daughter was looking at colleges to attend, she had competed at a high level of club/travel girls gymnastics.
We went to Temple in Philly and met with the coach.
My daughters gym was better equipped than this Division 1 team.
Then I was shown a brand new weight room.
Huh?
The reason?
Because they wanted to build a football stadium in North Philly.
Insane.
Then…
The Board of Trustees approved a recommendation from Athletic Director Kevin Clark Friday to eliminate seven intercollegiate sports from the university’s Division I sponsorship, effective July 1, 2014.

The following sports will be cut: baseball, softball, men’s crew, women’s rowing, men’s gymnastics and men’s indoor/outdoor track & field. More than 200 student-athletes will be affected and nine full-time coaches will lose their jobs.
She did not attend there. And the coach was later let go because of cheating at some level.
Football programs have helped to destroy collegiate athletics outside of the single solitary game that is laced with cheating, payoffs, injury, broken promises and outright criminal activities.

Here is the story on Temple University and their plans.

I think it is shot down, but who knows. Temple is NOT a D1 football school. As soon as any coach has any success, they grab the next plane out.

They play home games at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles stadium.
They pay through the nose and it always looks empty when they play.

It’s for the athletes. Yes. The athletes…

I always called them the “junk” bowls. Back in the day before cable, they always appeared on some obscure sports network that showed up on one of the UHF channels. The bowls that meant anything were the Rose, Orange, Cotton, and Sugar bowls, later expanded to include the Fiesta bowl.

Yup. Bald Faced Hornets are large, persistent, and have a seriously bad attitude.

In theory, all those live and extremely angry hornets he left at the site of the removed nest will eventually wander off and die. But I would not want to be one of the residents wandering around that area for a couple of days.

I have also heard of folks jury rigging a shop vac by filling it with soapy water, putting the nozzle right next to a yellowjacket nest entrance and turning it on for a day. Supposedly worked well.

Predictions for 2023:

-A Bigfoot tribe will be discovered living in an abandoned logging camp in a remote part of the Pacific Northwest. They will be found to have television, radio, and cheap magazine subscriptions, but no internet service. Their alpha male will appear on national television and endorse Donald Trump for President.

-A group of conspiracy theorists will claim to hear hidden messages when they play Greg Abbott’s speeches backward. Alleged messages will include “I am a doofus,” “Rick Perry’s hair is better,” and “where the hell is Maryland anyway?”

-A gigantic spaceship will land on the Washington Mall. Hideous but benign aliens will emerge and demand to see, not the president, but tort lawyers so they can sue various ufologists and talk-show hosts for defamation and libel, including allegations of kidnapping, cattle rustling, and airspace violations.

Long time readers may realize that at least some of these are recycled. That’s how psychics work, you know.
