It’s two decades off, but the next total solar eclipse to transit the United States, my house is in the path of totality. If you ever wanted to see a total solar eclipse from the top of a mountain, 2044 is your year.
If you aren’t hip to neo-Nazi lingo, “8/8” corresponds to the eighth letter of the alphabet twice, which corresponds to “Heil Hitler.”
Get it?
If I have to know this, so do you.

I think we’ve been un-canceled now, but please let me know if that page has been restored, or if it’s still gone.
re: #5 Charles
Will do.
You can’t get more harmless content than that, lol
I “pinned” my latest LGF Page on my Facebook. It went past 2,000 views recently.
Speaking of companies… is anyone else having problems with the US Amazon splash page or product pages today?
It’s been unusually slow for me.
re: #1 teleskiguy
Unless you’ve moved way north, you’re not in totality for 2044. It only hits ND and Montana.

It’s an odd thought. Barring anything weird I’ll be 63 years old and my Mother 97. Oy…

re: #10 teleskiguy
Oh wow! I keep thinking of 2045 mostly as Florida (because at 73, I will probably be retired down there), but a mountaintop in Colorado sounds pretty badass as a viewing site.
This was a weird one here - we got socked in with clouds at the worst time, they didn’t clear as I had hoped, and so it was a very dark, very ominous and eerie experience, much less celebratory than 2017 felt.
Still very powerful and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, but a weird one.
And as the only total solar eclipse to pass over my house and hometown in my lifetime, I didn’t want to travel anywhere else for it, especially since I was part of the task force planning events here and actively involved in media coverage.
re: #21 teleskiguy
Not the first time, either.
His campaign manager compared his 2020 campaign to the Death Star powering up (of course we remember what happened to the Death Star).
And they posted a meme of Trump as Thanos, apparently completely ignorant of what happened to Thanos at that point in the movie (he got his ass kicked by the Avengers).

That ad they put out today, hammer this shit home.

Thanks. I put that up on an earlier thread but I am thinking it needs to be added to every thread from here on out. But we might get either too depressed or too angry :-)

Whoops. I meant 21 years. 2045 is the Colorado mountaintop eclipse extravaganza!

I’ll leave the house to a trusted confidante. I’ll be in the wilderness.

That is some Il Duce-ass shit.
I was in a tin can made by Boeing hurtling through the atmosphere at 450 mph. The pilots said they would be flying through the path of the totality, which they did, but the eclipse was way over by that time. I wouldn’t have been able to see anything because how much can you see out of an airplane porthole?

Good. I hope it continues.
re: #32 Vicious Babushka
If the door had flown off mid-flight, you would’ve had a much better view.
I wasn’t in the path of totality, but off by 150 miles or so. Still, it was a glorious day. Sunny, 75°, slight breeze. I didn’t try to look at it (no glasses), but my son and I sat on the porch and watch it get quiet, darken, and the shadows get strange. Then it got really dark, and the light was very abnormal. So I experienced it, and loved the experience. Plus I got my yard mowed for the first time this year. What’s not to like?
Enjoying myself tonight with a fun guilty pleasure - Stargate. Love Kurt Russell isn htis and Spader is not bad at all. If we are going to have ancient astronauts build the pyramids, this is a nice approach.

I’ll be 80.
Sad to see Jackie and Shadow (Bear Valley eagles) slowly letting go of their 3 eggs. Jackie would always have night duty but she’s been losing interest and Shadow has spent two nights sitting on them. It seems he’s the one having a more difficult time letting go. Hope they’re successful next year.

Looks like cameras are expensive, as is figuring out how to package it for distribution. They need some web ready apps.
Speaker Johnson with Ukraine aid is doing the same sort of thing as Judge Cannon with Trump’s classified docs trial, creating delay after delay in service to an anti-American cause, but with just barely enough resemblance to normal procedure to thwart cut-the-BS-already counters. https://t.co/zHBV0EYoBZ

From Anne:
It is a fact universally acknowledged that Pastor Mike Johnson couldn’t organize a drinkfest in a brewery, but it’s also becoming ever clearer that he was chosen as House Speaker by the GOP because he’s just that incompetent. And he knows it, the nasty little beetle! Which doesn’t mean he won’t whine about it, because whining is one of the last remaining Republican skills.
re: #48 Belafon
The Senate passed a bipartisan bill which addressed immigration and Johnson rejected it and refused to even bring it to a vote. He can shut up with the performative nonsense.
re: #48 Belafon
So NOW they want all this shit in one bill, when it already was from the beginning and they demanded pulling them apart. Fuck these shitheads.
re: #48 Belafon
Just tell Johnson, “Hey - you’ve already got legislation on that. Put it up for a vote.”

I like the idea of Reykjavik but last time we were there in the summer it was cold after two weeks in 100 degree southern France.
