Remember in my senior year in high school hell I got into Vonnegut. Got my hands on everything I could find that he wrote. His books just really got me thru the end of that hellhole.

Science Fiction for me as a kid was Irwin Allen and Star Trek. I knew Allen’s 60’s shows were more Science Fantasy than Star Trek but I couldn’t help it. Loved them for the cheese. I liked the first two seasons of the original Trek but the third season under Fred Frieberger devolved into Irwin Allen camp.

Did get into Ellison a bit but he got too raw in some stuff. Actually talked to Harlan one time and helped him untangle a mess with an idiot at Medicare. He was very grateful and he wasn’t short-tempered at all.

Ellison could be an uber asshole and he could also be genuinely helpful from what I’ve heard.
