On the topic of political entertainment, there is a Front Page article up at RedState advocating voting against McConnell and Cochran in the general election.

The usual rule at RedState is conservative in the primary and GOP in the general, usually enforced with banning those who disagree.

Wingnuts are seriously pissed off about the MS primary.

Moderate Syrian rebels seem less than thrilled with Obama’s new plan, also slightly confused about fighting in Iraq
Syrian rebels buckling in face of jihadis

Opposition activists complain that after long hesitating to arm the rebellion to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad — their main goal — the United States is now enlisting them against the Islamic State out of its own interests. They have long argued that the group, which aims to create a radical Islamic enclave bridging Syria and Iraq, was only able to gain such power in Syria because more moderate forces were not given international support.

“This decision is a year and a half too late,” said Ahmad Ramadan, a senior member of the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition opposition group. “Had it not been for Obama’s hesitation all along, this wouldn’t be happening in Iraq today nor would there be this proliferation of extremist factions in Syria,” he added.

Meeting with Syrian opposition leader Ahmed al-Jarba in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Friday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry made clear the priority in helping the rebels was to fight the Islamic State — not only in Syria but possibly also in Iraq.

Most say they always vote Democratic and are unflagging supporters of Barack Obama. Overall, Solid Liberals are very optimistic about the nation’s future and are the most likely to say that America’s success is linked to its ability to change, rather than its reliance on long-standing principles. On foreign policy, Solid Liberals overwhelmingly believe that good diplomacy - rather than military strength - is the best way to ensure peace”

Was just hearing the other day that it wasn’t originally supposed to be a Wolfenstein game. Apparently it was a totally new IP, but they were having problems selling it to potential publishers, so they just slapped it together as a new Wolfenstein game.

Interesting storyline, nice gameplay, but way too damned short.

42 klys  Jun 27, 2014 2:25:16pm

Ordered beads to finish the big project two weeks ago. They sent what they had, but since I ordered 6 packs two were backordered. Ok, no issue.

The sets arrive, two are correct and two packs have the right number but wrong shape bead (manufacturer screwup). I emailed and let them know, they were very apologetic and added 2 more packs to my backorder.

The backorder arrived today.

Three of the 4 packs are the same issue: right number, wrong shape bead. And I can’t use that bead shape because the hole is in the wrong position relative to the shape for how it lays on the piece.

And this is all that’s left to finish it.

GRRRRRR.

Tropico was kind of worth the money. As a city builder it was fairly poor and slightly buggy but the little story that goes with campaign mode was fun and challenging enough.

that’s the problem with a lot of SP games, they aren’t huge drawn out affairs a lot of times yet they still charge a ton of money for them. Honestly War Gaming via World of Tanks has provided me a ton of fun (and sometimes frustration) and I don’t have to pay a dime if I don’t want to.

I also tried War Thunder. I actually like it even if it can be frustrating given how hard it can be to actually kill tanks in it (though I did manage to shoot down an enemy plane in my T-25).

The following is a lightly edited version of an interview with Iraq expert Michael Knights of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

What about the White House request for $500 million for supporting moderate Syrian rebels, who are also fighting ISIS?

The Obama administration is on the slippery slope now, where it’s being drawn into ever-increasing measures to try and shore up both the Iraqi government and the moderate opposition in Syria. But it’s probably a case of too little, too late on both counts. Without being too negative, the longer you wait to act in Iraq or Syria, the greater the amount of force and money and political capital you need to invest to stabilize the situation. And what we’re finding is that the Iranians are outpacing us in both Iraq and Syria at the present time.

Ok, not exactly HIDDEN…but you have to scroll to the bottom of the page and pass up the ad with the button that looks like it should move the slide show forward.

Didn’t see it because I use ad block on most sites. But yeah, that’s a new one that I haven’t seen before.

Boy, don’t you wish you’d read some Michael Knight before declaring, weeks before Iraq descended into turmoil, that the government was stable and sectarian conflicts were under control? I mean, even the slightest bit of knowledge about the situation in Iraq would have enabled you to avoid looking like a complete idiot by tut-tutting about how we’re not leaving Afghanistan in the stable shape we’re leaving Iraq, but if you’d read Knight’s stuff, you’d have some in depth knowledge of the region, and might finally have figured out that pesky “What’s a Sufi?” question.
