Carrie Fisher Dies at 60

Culture • Views: 57,020

Reports from witnesses on the plane where Carrie Fisher had a heart attack didn’t sound promising, and today the worst news was announced: Carrie Fisher Dies at 60.

She’ll be greatly missed, not just for the memory of her ground-breaking role in Star Wars, but for her courageous and uncompromising political stances and the way she simply took no shit from anyone.

Rest in peace, Princess Leia.

My favourite Carrie Fisher moment. GMA interviewer asks about her weight loss for Force Awakens and she IMMEDIATELY shuts it down

Cue the howler monkeys whining about her being overweight and about how she “didn’t age well”. Which I take great offense to - when last I saw her, she looked damn fine for a 59-year-old. But that is, as usual, completely beside the point. Carrie Fisher is more than just an image on a screen, as she has spent much of her life trying to tell people. Beautiful, yes, but that’s not who she was as a person.

I find the way they attack women actors for not staying 19-25 years old to be despicable, while actors like Tom Cruise get to play as the romantic interests of women half their age.

And it’s not just women actors, either. Any prominent woman will be insta-judged by these dipshits by how she looks, regardless if she’s in a profession that employs physical attractiveness or not.

Good point; Clinton got savaged for looking like a woman in her late sixties.

The whole double standard of judging a woman by how she looks and a man by … well, basically everything EXCEPT how he looks, has always bugged me. Most especially because I was definitely judged a physically unattractive specimen as a teenager/young man, and I know how it can get under a person’s skin, even if they pretend otherwise. Physical appearance has nothing to do with who a person is underneath, and you’d think we’d have all learned that by now.

I seem to have watery eyes.

So many that provided the background to our lives are slipping away and damn it is tough to handle the constant reminder we’ve been having.

When younger you couldn’t appreciate when your elders reminisced about their past and those they saw passing.

Now I understand all too well.

Letting a 200+ year-old watch run down its mainspring, because I don’t know how to let the power down safely. It only seems to BARELY run when sitting like this. You can see progress from picture 1 to picture 2

So far, it’s run 20 minutes. Only about 24 hours to go!

It is never learned. Humans seem to always have to have a way of taking others down to raise themselves up.

Trump is a fitting example of it. And a large portion of America voted for that type of behavior. Not a good sign.

No matter what the real cause or how well attested, whole wars will break out among conspira-loons over just which gang of evil doers was responsible. Was it the 9-11 false flaggers? Or the Sandy Hookers? The chem-trailers? UFO custodians? Or some overarching super-conspiracy like the international Zionist Masonic Illuminati?

Spencer says he’ll call it off if people leave his mom alone.

But on Friday he appeared to back down, posting about a “monumental breakthrough” in which, among other things, he quoted an Associated Press report in which Love Lives Here head Will Randall reiterated that his group had never tried to pressure Spencer’s mother about her business.

And he offered to call off his march if various terms were met, including “a promise that any protest actions you take in the future against Richard Spencer will not involve his family members,” from Love Lives Here.

Trump/GOP/Netanyahu are blaming Obama for the UN SCR vote against Israel’s settlements, but the real driving force behind it? Putin and Britain’s May (who came to power because of Brexit, something that Trump applauded).

Netanyahu is not nearly as adept at diplomacy as he thinks he is, or Israel needs him to be. In fact, he probably made things a whole lot worse - not just re: US but with Russia.

Had Netanyahu spent more time engaging in constructive diplomacy with the current Administration instead of fellating a future administration with the attention span of a gnat, he could have avoided a major defeat for Israel at the UN.

The first bit, condemning violence against civilians, is a pretty good hit against both sides. Terrorism by the Palestinians is a major concern, but so is the disproportionate and indiscriminate retribution that Israel has begun to engage in under Bibi’s rule. Responding to rocket attacks that blow holes in the pavement with shelling and bombing of vital infrastructure and civilian homes.

Well, considering that pretty much all of the main characters introduced in RO were dead by the time we saw Princess Leia in the final scenes, it is strangely ironic that Fisher succumbed to that heart attack. I joked to my brother yesterday after we saw RO that it should have been named Star Wars: Everyone Dies at the End ;-P

Given the eyewitness reports that the EMT onboard was doing CPR on Fisher all the way to the ground (10+ minutes with no response), the prognosis wasn’t good; she may have stabilized on life support equipment in the hospital, but my guess is there was just too much brain/organ damage and that she never regained consciousness.

Latest about the woman who called FLOTUS “an ape in heels”:
UPDATE: State takeover of Clay County Development Corporation, director removed

CLAY COUNTY, w.va. (WSAZ) — The Appalachian Area Agency on Aging has taken over the Clay County Development Corporation as of Tuesday morning.

Ramona Stanley with the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging will manage the Clay County Development Corporation for the next six months or until a new executive director is hired.

There is an agreement signed with board of directors effective Tuesday.

Stanley will work to make sure all senior services continue, strengthen the board and their financial stewardship.

There will also be possible bylaw changes and AAA will have authority to adjust salaries.

The development corporation recently made national and international headlines after the former executive director, Pamela Taylor, made a racist Facebook post that went viral.

The board of directors of the Clay County Development Corporation met last week and sent letters to Pamela Taylor and her two sisters, removing them from their positions with the non-profit. Taylor’s two sisters were both employees.

State leaders met Tuesday morning at the center with current employees and continue to the takeover process.

The locks to the building were changed Monday.

According to Commissioner Robert Roswall with the Bureau of Senior Services, one of the two state agencies funding the Clay County Development Corporation, there were several contract violations that added up to a big problem and the takeover.

The CCDC was not complying with any Freedom of Information Act requests and was not holding open meetings. There was also no non-discrimination policy in place that covered seniors being served by the non-profit.

The job she just lost paid $80,000/year.

I’ve always wanted to get a guy like Alex Jones (con artists types…President Trump) into some kind of a mental state (drugged or drunk, etc.) where you could break them down to see if they actually believe or is it just for monetary gain. Get to their truths.

I’m sure there is some percentage of these types that are really believers, but to me the majority are just using people to loosen them from their money.
