I read the sources of her argument, those two psychiatrists she claimed were proof. Did you read those?

Yesterday’s Hubbard’s Gap ten acre fire is over two thousand now.

There are twenty-five fire departments on the scene, the Nebraska National Guard is on the way with UH-60s equipped with water buckets, and the Nebraska Forestry Service has three water-bomber aircraft on site.

The on-scene commander believes the fire is human-caused. The origin of the fire is a cattle guard, caused either by throwing a cigarette out a window there, or by a chain dragging over the cattle guard causing a spark lighting the very dry prairie grass here.

Residents in the area are now being evacuated from their homes.

OMG, have you actually read this: jkrowling.com. She’s quoting researchers of studies that purport that whole groups are transitioning together, or people deciding they want to undo the transition. The thing sounds an awful lot like the publications about women receiving abortions.

Decision to put medical marijuana initiative on Nebraska ballot challenged in court (Omaha World-Herald, twenty minutes ago):

A challenge to a medical marijuana initiative recently approved to be included on the Nov. 3 ballot has been submitted to the Nebraska Supreme Court.

On Friday, Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner filed a challenge to Secretary of State Bob Evnen’s ruling that the initiative qualified to be on the ballot.

Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana, the group supporting legalized medical cannabis, collected well over the required 122,275 valid signatures needed to put the issue on the ballot, but on Wednesday, Mark Fahleson, the lawyer representing Wagner and a former chairman of the state Republican Party, sought to block the issue from the ballot.

In a letter, lawyers for the pro-medical marijuana group called Fahleson’s challenge “a last-minute attempt to derail the precious right of the people” to vote on voter-supported initiatives.

The case must be decided by Sept. 11, the deadline to certify the ballot for the general election.

The Nebraska Task Force-1 Urban Search and Rescue team, based with Lincoln Fire and Rescue, was on its way home from Texas Friday after assisting those affected by Hurricane Laura.

The team, which deployed to College Station, Texas, will spend the night in Oklahoma before returning to Lincoln Saturday afternoon. The team included 25 members from the Lincoln, Omaha and Papillion Fire Departments.

The only thing that made today more of a hot mess in WI was Rittenhouse getting another 30 days to walk free because he hasn’t found a lawyer yet. There are a lot of brothers sitting in jail cells right dealing with public defenders, but the white kid who’s facing two murder charges is at home because his mom is waiting on the wingnut welfare to roll in so she can hire a lawyer.

Cases of Covid-19 continue rising in the Panhandle as the governor continues to relax restrictions here.

Dawes County (seat Chadron) has a spike in cases. The Verizon Wireless store there has been closed after a case of the disease popped up in a staffer and the whole store’s staff was quarantined today.

Verizon says the store will be closed over the weekend, and they will move people from other places to re-open the store on Monday (by appointment only).

My mother used to make it, but now that she’s legally blind and deaf as a post, she can’t cook that stuff without her children* (my brother and I) getting all freaked out. (“Mom, let me do that.”) My brother will on occasion buy her tubs of premade tapioca pudding. But not very often, because if that’s in the fridge, she will eat that first before everything else.

* We have a sister but she lives in Houston and calls only occasionally. She’s not involved in the day-to-day.
