Once again, the Halloween Reefer Madness. Edibles are hella EXPENSIVE. Nobody is going to put their edibles in the trick or treat bin. What actually happen is the “adults” in the house leave their own edibles unattended.

With the very invoked irony that actual Critical Race Theory, the actually appropriately labeled school of thought, sought not to lay blame but to accurately describe the mechanisms in which institutional racism worked and how to approach them. But, you know, accurately describing actual racism is apparently the real racism.

re: #22 Charles Johnson

If the VA race does indeed end up swinging on the basis of the anti-CRT hysteria, then I’m not sure what the fuck can be done. It shows the overwhelming power and nigh-invincibility of the GOP propaganda factory, and will end up whitewashing our history for decades on the back of it.

It funny (and by “funny” I mean enraging) how none of these Bernoids can explain how their Lord Emperor would be able to pass all this legislation, except that he would somehow “magic” it into existence. Like he has done for the last 40 years? Oh wait.

It funny (and by “funny” I mean enraging) how none of these Bernoids can explain how their Lord Emperor would be able to pass all this legislation, except that he would somehow “magic” it into existence. Like he has done for the last 40 years? Oh wait.

I keep seeing people react to things like ‘if you want to get more later, we need more Dem Congresspeople’ with ‘stop the voter suppression then!’, or ‘then kill the filibuster then!’. Or even ‘pack the courts!’ To which the constant reply is ‘ok….how? How do you get the votes for that?’ If we can’t get the votes, the simple bare majority that would have to include VP Harris’s tiebreak, for something much more mundane, how are we going to get those through? A magic wand?

But eventually the replies pretend that a Dem majority IS supposed to be magical and that they should have been able to get things through, and we’re further back from square one than before because even more people have jumped aboard the Green Lantern Theory wagon, and I die even more inside, because of how hopeless it all fucking feels.

It screams of overcorrection because they’re piss scared of being caught flatfooted and ‘underestimating’ Republicans again, even if it means overestimating them to absurdity.

Lets not forget: once the dust fully settled, a lot of the polling in 2016 was pretty darn accurate, but failed to account for the distribution of the numbers. Since then, it’s been a constant exchange of weighting numbers further and further rightward because of the same ol’ scourge of ‘liberal bias’.

What matters is getting people to the polls to vote on Election Day.

The following is of great concern:

1. DeJoy’s magic interfering with mail-in ballots.
2. Disheartened voters irritated that the Democrats didn’t get the infrastructure bills through. And anti-Trump moderates that I know are infuriated that the bipartisan infrastructure bill hasn’t passed yet in the House.
3. The effect of CRT demonization. Frank Luntz was successful for years getting victory to the GOP by creating terminology that swung voters his way.
4. The GOP base who will come out to vote no matter what.

I am holding my breath until Tuesday is over — and praying that we emerge triumphant. Due to my lifelong pessimistic take on everything: I believe in negative polls and don’t believe in positive ones.

MAGA rioter who declared she was ‘tired of paying taxes to crooks’ owed 35K in back taxes: feds

Yes it’s the TexASS Tax Cheat who rented a plane to fly to DC to participate in the coup!

Jenna Ryan, the Dallas-area realtor who flew to Washington on a private plane before participating in the Jan. 6 insurrection, filmed herself on the steps of the Capitol declaring that she was “tired of paying taxes to crooks.”

However, in a new court filing, federal prosecutors allege that Ryan has “a history of tax delinquency,” according to Politico reporter Kyle Cheney.

“Moreover, the defendant has not consistently paid her taxes, with a history of federal and state tax liens from 2013 and 2016 that caused a deficiency of more than $35,000 in back taxes that was not resolved until April 2021,” prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo for Ryan. “Despite her own history of tax delinquency, the defendant recorded herself … on the Captiol steps declaring that she was ‘tired of paying taxes’ to ‘crooks.’”

It’s not about being dumb, or being accurate. The whole thing is meant as an intentional red herring and scapegoat to begin with. What CRT actually is or isn’t isn’t the point.
