Former President Donald Trump is expected to turn himself in at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday following his indictment stemming from efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump, who has 18 co-defendants in the election subversion case, has agreed to a $200,000 bond and other release conditions. In total, Trump is now facing 91 charges across 4 separate criminal cases, according to CNN.

Live your life so that the whole world doesn’t breathlessly anticipate the release of your mug shot.

So, instead of watching an empty lectern, we’re going to watch for Trump to drive up to get processed in his fourth criminal case on felony charges.

Super.

He’s not surrendering until the prime time TV news hour. He told his followers to go out at 10am so he could build up an all-day spectacle.

By Monday his mugshot will be on coffee mugs, mouse pads, thong underwear, and anything else that can be customized on Zazzle or Cafepress or Etsy.

Trump knows how to manipulate the media and crowds of cultists.

Of course he’s not showing at 10am. Or even 4pm. He’s going to wait until 5:05 and cause everyone to interrupt their 5pm news broadcasts. Maximum coverage.

Wishcasting here:

The same dumbass who flew with his entire senior leadership and got blown up (by bomb or missile) somehow had forethought to have kompromat on Putin that would get released if he’s killed? I don’t think so.

Because I think Putin would smoke out the kompromat and neutralize that ahead of killing him.

Figures that Vivek is not only a Trumpist clone, with better skin tone, but he’s into the same kind of lawfare and BS legal filings.

This is a filing where he’s trying to get out of subpoena in Bermuda regarding one of his pharma companies. He claims he can’t submit because he’s a candidate for POTUS.

Umm… that’s not going to float with any court.

I wondered why Ramaswamy was running for President as a Republican, a party not exactly known for its tolerance and acceptance of people who aren’t old rich white men. This would actually explain it. He saw Trump’s legal “strategy” of saying, “I’m a candidate for President, you can’t indict me,” and thought, “Now there’s a fine legal scholar who knows exactly what he’s doing, I’m going to try that.”

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a group of disorders that occur when blood vessels or nerves in the space between your collarbone and your first rib (thoracic outlet) are compressed. This can cause shoulder and neck pain and numbness in your fingers.

Common causes of thoracic outlet syndrome include physical trauma from a car accident, repetitive injuries from job- or sports-related activities, certain anatomical defects (such as having an extra rib), and pregnancy. Sometimes doctors don’t know the cause of thoracic outlet syndrome.

Treatment for thoracic outlet syndrome usually involves physical therapy and pain relief measures. Most people improve with these treatments. In some cases, however, your doctor may recommend surgery.

There are two rigs in my home - both with relatively top-notch and pricey gear, one with just W7 and the other dual-booting W7 and W11. Have good security and AV software in place, have backups, both are connected, and neither has had a single security issue.
Between scheduled bi-weekly backups for the OS drives and standard diligence, I’ve seen nothing on my side or on the side of others who follow suit to indicate there’s a greater risk.

Barron’s: Top Science Publisher Withdraws Flawed Climate Study

Top science publisher Springer Nature said it has withdrawn a study that presented misleading conclusions on climate change impacts after an investigation prompted by an AFP inquiry.

The study had drawn positive attention from climate-sceptic media.

Several climate scientists contacted by AFP said the study manipulated data, cherry picked facts and ignored others that would contradict their assertions, prompting the publisher to launch an internal review.

“The Editors and publishers concluded that they no longer had confidence in the results and conclusions of the article,” Springer Nature told AFP in an email late Wednesday.

There are two rigs in my home - both with relatively top-notch and pricey gear, one with just W7 and the other dual-booting W7 and W11. Have good security and AV software in place, have backups, both are connected, and neither has had a single security issue.
Between scheduled bi-weekly backups for the OS drives and standard diligence, I’ve seen nothing on my side or on the side of others who follow suit to indicate there’s a greater risk.

i am not forced into microsoft lockstep that much.
when i am is when i get mad.
and when you’re in rebuild mode, there are a lot of hoops

i.e. you have to have three security questions to create an account - and only these questions are allowed. i’m just creating a second win login for whatever reason i choose. i dont need this nonsense.

or, no i dont want a microsoft login, or a onedrive account. or whatever…

…notifications for apps im not even using -

once i’ve killed all the bloatware and gotten through the obligatory dance steps, windows becomes mostly invisible because it’s just the one tax app.

all our data is in the cloud and safe enough for our purposes.
so if a computer craps out, it’s rebuild from scratch, reinstall the tax and cloud s/w and we’re off and running. no data to restore. no windows restore points, etc. there’s almost nothing to it. just fix a few settings

i wouldnt care if it died every week (sort of)
i could rebuild it in an hour

my problem was it wouldnt boot past the bios *at all*. and i didnt have discs or the product key (at the time).

so i dont care much, i just get whiney when im forced to do unnecessary shit. i’m better now.

Well this could explain why Harrison Floyd couldn’t make bail…

Defendant in Trump Georgia case was earlier charged with attacking FBI agent

Harrison William Prescott Floyd is accused of assaulting an agent working on Justice Department’s probe of efforts to obstruct 2020 election

A Trump supporter indicted last week in Fulton County, Ga., for allegedly harassing an election worker was charged earlier this year with attacking an FBI agent working on the Justice Department’s parallel investigation of efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

The arrest of Harrison William Prescott Floyd III, which has not been previously reported, offers new information about the breadth of the federal probe led by special counsel Jack Smith, who has charged former president Donald Trump for allegedly attempting to obstruct Joe Biden’s election victory.

It could also complicate any bail agreement for Floyd in Fulton County, where District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) has said he and the 18 others indicted on state-level charges last week — a group that includes Trump — must surrender by Friday or risk being arrested.

Popehat said that this would be used as an argument for a higher bail or conditions on his release, not for a complete failure to negotiate a bail agreement for a person who is flying into the state to surrender voluntarily. Not being a lawyer, I don’t know how sound that reasoning is, but I can’t imagine that it helped the negotiations at all.

most tax, especially professional preparer programs are quite intricate.
displays
navigating
2 factor authorizations and a lot of other comms for efiling, software updates and importing client data

i think they’re all too complicated for an emulator
not even turbotax works on linux

the best solution for me would be web based. chrome on linux. done.

alas, all the sites that can handle fiduciary, not-for-profit and estates think too much of themselves and are way over priced for the volume we have.

so it’s windows 10, on a laptop, with occasional grumbling

Wine was a very ambitious project from the start, and it was a great idea, in the days before hardware was built specifically to enable virtualization. Nowadays, it’s a lot easier to just spin up a VM to do something.

The same dumbass who flew with his entire senior leadership and got blown up (by bomb or missile) somehow had forethought to have kompromat on Putin that would get released if he’s killed? I don’t think so.

Because I think Putin would smoke out the kompromat and neutralize that ahead of killing him.

Does anyone survive in a Wagner Opera?

I got curious and did a *very*superficial* search of Wagner’s four Opera Ring Cycle to see if anyone survives:

(Apologies to everyone who knows far more than I regarding Wagner)

Deaths in the final act of Wagner’s final Ring Opera, Götterdämmerunge:

Siegfried wearing the gold ring of power stolen from the Rhinemaidens proclaims his love for Brünnhilde.
Hagen wanting to prosess the ring stabs Siegfried with a spear.
Siegfried dies while reminiscing about Brünnhilde.
Meanwhile Gutrune, Hagen’s sister, anxiously awaits the return of Siegfried, who she believes is going to marry her.
Hagen enters and tells her that Siegfried has been killed by a wild boar.
Gutrune accuses Gunther of murdering Siegfried.
Gunther tells Gutrune that Hagen killed Siegfried.
Gunther and Hagen fight, and Gunther is killed.
Brünnhilde enters and has a funeral pyre constructed for Siegfried on the banks of the Rhine River.
Brünnhilde denounces the gods for their role in Siegfried’s death, removes the ring from Siegfried’s hand and promises to return it to the Rhinemaidens.
Brünnhilde then lights the funeral pyre and throws herself onto the flames.
The Rhine floods and destroys the hall where this taking place.
Hagen dives into the flood water to seize the ring but is dragged under by the Rhinemaidens, to reclaim their ring of gold.
Valhalla and the gods perish in flames.

Wonder if yesterday’s phyrric victory is the Wagner Group’s final act.

I used Windows in a Parallels emulator on my Mac for years. Had to have it for horse show software that only worked in Windows. The software developers told me to do it that way; said that that’s how they did it, and it was faster than just using the software on Windows. I now have a Windows for Mac copy purchased through a TechSoup account. Eh. I don’t like it, but I’ve got it to communicate with other windows users.

Wine is still a valuable project.
Some people are using Linux as a VR or gaming platform instead of a better-suited OS for the task for ideological or financial reasons. This requires Proton rather than a VM for good performance, and Proton uses wine. The SteamDeck uses Proton, so wine is in a lot of hands right now.
