WTF???

“Silence of the Lambs. Has anyone ever seen The Silence of the Lambs?” Trump said. “The late, great Hannibal Lecter is a wonderful man. He often times would have a friend for dinner. Remember the last scene? ‘Excuse me. I’m about to have a friend for dinner,’ as this poor doctor walked by. ‘I’m about to have a friend for dinner.’ But Hannibal Lecter. Congratulations. The late, great Hannibal Lecter,”

I’m a great aunt again! My newest great-niece was born last night. I’m not going to give the baby’s name, but I am going to tell you that it starts with a “B” (traditional on that side of the family) and my nephew derived it from an old Star Wars Galaxies server that he used to play on back in the day. Which was derived from a minor character in the Star Wars universe. I have zero problem with the name, because it’s easily pronounced and spelled. And it’s a perfectly fine name.

I’m just happy this finally happened because my nephew’s wife was overdue.

Congratulations, Great-Aunty!
Always a relief when they get here safely, some of them just like to take their time about it.
And a name that’s easily pronounced and spelled is a very good thing, little miss B will be grateful for that from kindergarten onwards.

re: #2 mmmirele

I have a very common first name. However, my parents always called me by my middle name, which is uncommon.

In school, my teachers insisted on using my first name; no problem for me.

My grandmother, on the other hand, never got the hang of it. She asked more than once “Why did you name your kid “thing”” (which wasn’t my middle name but that’s how she heard it).

So I’m talking to my MIL on the phone and Google puts up a thing on the screen saying, “Try audio emojis!” So I tapped…there were smiley faces, confetti, and a poop emoji. Being me, I tapped the poop emoji, sending both of us a long farting noise and sending a brown smear down the screen of my phone.

Who the hell thought of this? I have to be careful not to touch that during a business call.

I admit I thought this was a made-up quote at first, since it was posted with no source. But it’s real. Wide open racism, the kind we haven’t seen in this country for many years.

TRUMP:

Would you rather have the Black president or the white president…I think they want the white guy.

Unbelievably horrible to see this happen to Twitter. It was always pretty far from perfect, but Musk has turned it into a weapon for the global far right.

Wishing I could call my mom, but she passed away several years ago.

She’d call and talk my ear off. I’d often roll my eyes.

Now I’d give anything to be able to talk with her again.

Miss you, mom.

It’s funny that connors never really looked like much, but he could go deep sets, even in his mid-30’s, and until the graphite big-head rackets came along, he could return anything that came at him.

I was there on Connor’s birthday in 1991, when he beath Krickstein in the US Open Quarters; and at his final US Open match against Lendl in 1992. (Also saw him win a few on the Champions Tour.) He was always entertaining to watch, and certainly left a mark on the game.

I respected the hell out of his game but I never could understand why he felt the need to be such an ass at times. Being uber-competitive and talented shouldn’t give one the right to berate the officials or your opponent. Same thing for McEnroe times 10 and there are others, as well. Borg and Sampras were just as talented but they never lashed out when a call went against them.
