My question: Some Republicans apparently are calling Jordan the Speaker-Designate. What in the world does that title even mean? Just that he has a majority of the majority? That a majority of their conference voted for him (just like they previously did Scalise) during their closed meeting?

It’s their pretentious attempt to sound like they are united in their support for a single Speaker candidate. I think they came up with it after this absurd “let’s all pow-wow together and figure out who we can all support” closed-door process, which blew up in predictable fashion, when the lying backstabbers lied to his face and then stabbed him in the back.
