That poor groundhog was hibernating and somebody just grabbing it and handing it around to ignorant and superstitious human beings is what what killed that poor groundhog, not just dropping it.
tl:dr — pulling out of hibernation will kill it. Trained groundhog handlers know this. Photo op personnel don’t give a shit.

There’s a groundhog living underneath my porch. I called animal control last year and they took away its mate, but they didn’t capture this one. It comes up on the porch sometimes looking for food.

I just planted tomatoes and I noticed that it has been burrowing right next to the plants. It doesn’t eat the tomatoes but it does try to uproot the plants. I should probably call the animal control again and have them reset the trap.
