So, not only did Macron handily defeat LePen (again) but it’s also looking like the right-wing populist Prime Minister of Slovenia has also been defeated:

Slovenia’s populist Prime Minister Janez Jansa looked set to lose a national election on Sunday as the environmentalist Freedom Movement party won more votes than his SDS party, according to an exit poll.

The election had been expected to be tight but the exit poll by the Mediana Institute showed the Freedom Movement leading with 35.8% of the vote, far more than expected, while the SDS had secured 22.5% of the vote.

That would give the Freedom Movement, which campaigned on the transition to green energy, an open society and the rule of law, 42 seats in the 88-seat parliament and the SDS 26 seats.

Whichever party wins will have to secure coalition partners to form a new government.

I’m at the point where I can no longer continue to use my trusty old 2008 Mac Pro, because there are too many apps and development packages that have stopped supporting older versions of Mac OS and it’s getting difficult to work this way.

Thinking of getting an M1 Mac Mini and a 4K monitor.

The tech media certainly likes it. And the price point seems very good. Especially for an Apple product.

I seem to have read somewhere that there are rumors of the Mini2 showing up at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022 in June.

America is not ready for the extended nightmare of runoff elections.

I am for retaining the Electoral College but with two major reforms:

It is reapportioned according to actual population and not number of congressional seats per state

and

It only kicks in if no single candidate receives a clear majority of the popular vote.

I saw something like that with my cats once.

I was outside doing chores in the backyard with the two Siamese just hanging out me.

Cat from two houses down had snuck up along the gully to ambush one of them.

Dashed out from beside the shed… and came to a dead stop since me and the other Siamese were there about 4’ away looking at the cat with a “what do you think you’re doing?” look. (The Siamese next to me was also the main territorial defender of the two and this was during a period that he was sort of boss cat along that stretch of houses even though he was not outside a lot.)

The other cat took that long look at us and then turned tail and ran back down into the gully.

Hapless online rwnj agitator Michael Tracy has been unsuccessfully thrashing about, arguing that Russia should be supported over Ukraine.

And you may remember his encounter with a Septuagenarian member of congress. And some may remember that he got lightly slapped in the head by the elderly lady. Resulting in Tracy’s rather theatric performance over alleged injuries.

Yesterday, an analyst in the Ukraine War, Michael Weiss, tweeted a thread about the adventures of a hapless individual unsuccessfully searching for evidence of European support for Putin. He codenamed this agent *ahem* “SoftSkull”.

Today Michael Weiss tweeted:

Which is all but pre-programmed to occur.

The GOP were foiled by to things, first a massive record turnout for Biden. That is not likely to repeat itself.

Second, a handful of GOP state election officers who had the integrity to resist pressure to cave in and declare valid results invalid. Those people have all been replaced by loyal party hacks.

Question about the Marjorie Taylor Greene video as the bomber women.

Why do the republicans not get this shoved down their throats? Why doesn’t the dems just every time they speak just question the idea that she was the bomber, just trying to find out the truth? Etc, etc?

Plaster the media with it. Investigate the rumours about it.

Do you think that if it was a riot by the left and somebody that looked a bit like AOC they wouldn’t hesitate to do that?

So why not the dems?

I do not think Majoram Fuckity-Goblin would do this, but just once for the dems to bring it to the party would feel good.

“Facts we Need to Know”

1) America is a Christian Nation
2) Founders instituted Separation of Church and State to Keep the Government from imposing restrictions on (the Christian) religion
3) Islam is a political construct, not a religion and therefore not subject to any religious rights
4) We will put up with Catholics as they are anti-abortion and anti contraception
5) We will put up with Jews because we need a resurgent Israel to kick-start the End-Times Prophecies
6) We are God’s Chosen Nation
7) We are His Chosen Nation because our laws reflect (our interpretation of ) HIs Divine Will
8) Abortion, Gay Marriage, Trans Rights, Welfare Mothers, Socialized Medicine, etc. are an abomination unto the Lord and must be done away with

There is so much in this story. Among the many points in the article:

1. Crypto-currency is designed to be opaque to governments. So what happens when somebody steals your crypto-currency and you call the cops?

2. The idea that the system and the implementing code are well thought out and perfect is, apparently… extremely optimistic.

3. The libertarian concept that a non-expert individual is somehow equal to a professional group supported by a government is also… extremely optimistic.

4. What happens when crypto-currency circumvents national policy and the enforcing mechanisms.

North Korean hackers who last month carried out one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts ever are still laundering their haul more than a week after they were identified as the thieves.
*snip*
The cat-and-mouse game unfolding between law enforcement and the North Korean hackers is another example of how criminals have learned to target the growing crypto economy’s weak points. They exploit faulty code in decentralized crypto platforms, use tools that help them hide their tracks such as converting assets to privacy-enhancing cryptocurrencies like Monero, and take advantage of spotty law enforcement coordination across international borders.
*snip*
Digital thieves are on track for a record-breaking year. They stole $1.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency in the first three months of the year, after seizing $3.2 billion in 2021, according to blockchain data firm Chainalysis. Hackers pulled off another major heist last Sunday, stealing about $76 million worth of digital assets from a crypto project called Beanstalk, according to Etherscan data.

i was really hoping this was gonna end with the siamese in a duster, out on the running board of a 1920’s Ford, firing a Thompson at the rivals. But I guess sometimes when violence isn’t called for, no need to bring out the big guns.

Le Pen is also being investigated by the EU for misusing public funds while she was in the EU parliament.

I think France should have the Interior Ministry include her in their counterintel ops against Russia that they have been doing since the Ukraine invasion.

re: #24 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

America is not ready for the extended nightmare of runoff elections.

I am for retaining the Electoral College but with two major reforms:

It is reapportioned according to actual population and not number of congressional seats per state

and

It only kicks in if no single candidate receives a clear majority of the popular vote.

I’d be for keeping just if we removed the Senate numbers and had it based only on the House of Representatives. (438 instead of 538 to start, this negates the bullshittery that is Wyoming and the Dakotas partially)

*and*

Increased the size of the house to better represent the actual population. At least double what it is now if not more.

*and*

Make it clear that only the people vote for electors. No state legislature bullshit.

I don’t know how I feel about winner take all though. I think I’d rather just shitcan the whole thing and go for an instant runoff system popular vote.

I’ve got a Macintosh plus in my garage.

I remember well when the ****s (sorry, I’m a Brit) at Apple Seedrin wouldn’t le me see the 1st iteration of the Mac when I was diagnosing their design fuckups on the Apple //C.

(The //C cheaped out by deriving many frequencies from the mains. They forgot that when they modified it for the European market, 50Hz instead of 60Hz, that would screw up all the serial timings. 1200bps came out as 1000bps. JLG was pissed,,).

It’s entirely to be expected that Trump holding a hate rally to energize the deplorable knuckle-draggers of his base will lead to spikes in crime rates as these infinitely reprogrammable meat-puppets engage in “legitimate political discourse” vs. whoever Trump aimed them at.

But it’s good to have it documented.

I bet the same thing happened after Nazi rallies in Weimar Germany.

Speaking of computers…

Back 2013 Stanford scientists announced that they had created a biological set of the basic logic gates needed for building a biological computer:

*snip*
“We have repurposed a group of natural proteins, called integrases, to realize digital control over the flow of RNA polymerase along DNA, which in turn allowed us to engineer amplifying genetic logic,” said Endy.

Using transcriptors, the team has created what are known in electrical engineering as logic gates that can derive true-false answers to virtually any biochemical question that might be posed within a cell.

They refer to their transcriptor-based logic gates as “Boolean Integrase Logic,” or “BIL gates” for short.

Biological transistor enables computing within living cells, study says

The original article is from 2018. I’d be curious to see how the the clown shows he’s doing now are affecting crime in the surrounding area. The pre-2020 and post-2020 clown shows are different beasts.

The crowd sizes are smaller, a lot of them are basically Dead-Heads following him around the country.

He bitches that the “fake news” won’t show the size of the crowds. Well that’s because RSBN is the only one there filming it. All the other wingnut sites just take the feed from them. He literally points at his RSBN fan boys and implies they are the MSM who are “so dishonest and wont show the crowd”. I’m waiting for an RSBN “news” crew to be assaulted. I don’t know if Clownstick actually *thinks* MSNBC and CNN are there or if he’s just bullshitting more. It could go either with his brainworms.

VIC 20 owner here and then a C-64. Yeah, I know all about tape storage. And basic. Commodore basic was a trip to learn.

Our first family machine was an Itaewon knock-off of an Apple II. Got a Panasonic tape recorder to store our typed-in Hamuabi (sic).

Regardless of the machine, tape storage has always been a quality first issue. Regardless of the read/write unit. Use a piss poor quality tape, you WILL lose data. And if you’re an audiophile, you’ll understand that as well.

The trucker convoy, which aimed to emulate the disruptive Canadian protests against COVID-19 restrictions, has failed spectacularly at every turn. During a few weeks of driving around Washington, D.C., the convoy was held up by a single bicyclist, and some convoy members said they were having difficulty finding places for bathroom breaks and, as a result, were forced to urinate in their pants.

After an anemic showing in Washington, the convoy made the long drive back across the country, landing in the Bay Area this week. Since the convoy began, practically all major COVID restrictions have been lifted in the United States, so it appears it’s switched its messaging to support other conservative causes.

On Friday afternoon, the small convoy of semitrucks, pickup trucks, minivans and other cars drove to Democratic Assemblymember Buffy Wicks’ East Bay home to protest her support of an abortion rights bill. As they honked and used bullhorns in the quiet residential neighborhood, neighbors gathered to heckle them right back, yelling at the truckers to get off their street.

Livestreams posted by convoy participants show police arriving to protect Wicks’ home, which eventually prompted the group to move on. It was here the convoy members made their mistake, driving onto busy, one-lane College Avenue on the Berkeley-Oakland border. There, slowed down by the usual Friday afternoon traffic, they were sitting ducks outside the Safeway. A large group of kids, armed with eggs purchased at the grocery store, began pelting the convoy.

They’re already spoken for—a local hobbyist/dealer offered me more than they’re worth, so I’m loading the deal with a bunch of lenses/flashes. Film is becoming a boutique medium. (Moving to digital is very hard conceptually—the photographer has no real control over the final product unless a very expensive printing process is used.)

Blood and Roses (Elsa Martinelli, Vadim imdb.com)
Dracula (Jack Palance imdb.com)
Innocent Blood (Anne Parillaud imdb.com)
Only Lovers Left Alive (Tilda Swinton, John Hurt imdb.com)
Manhattan Undying (imdb.com)

Who is “Biden’s type of Democrat” and why do they endanger/restrict/threaten the right to an abortion?

Who is not “Biden’s type of Democrat”? I ask the original Tweeter to be specific. It has been a very long time since there were “pro-life” Democrats who were pro-life in their policies. Our late Massachusetts governor Edward King was the last such person, and he died forever ago!

The only way to deal with Green Lantern types is, besides punching them, to RELENTLESSLY call their bluff! Ask what they would do. Ask for specifics. And even more. Don’t stop.

Pretend you’re dealing with sports-talk callers, the stupid ones who want their team to deal for Mahomes. When they’re asked who they’d trade to make it happen, they suddenly say “I ain’t no GM!” This is when you’re the host and hang up the caller, “Bye! Next caller!”

We have got to push back against this shit. It’ll kill us. It IS killing us.
