From my view you are dedicated to your family and your craft and you lived the athletic dream while young. But more yesterday than tomorrow there on that path. IMO It’s okay to self assess and wonder where to go from here but counterproductive to what if.
Know you kicked some ass and got some personal growth through challenges failures and train wrecks and are the wiser for it
Also know you avoided the oops I forgot to live of the overly prudent and the overly sedentary which are sins in my book

I put my life into high leverage engineering with a lot of travel and family and was like Boxer the Horse for years trying to keep up . When the inevitable cast off to the glue factory seemed imminent I said to myself: keep a low profile bad attitude. Those sob’s will see how it will all go off the rails when I slack off. Hah. Guess wha, I was more productive being less intense and was a better work mate showing up late taking a long lunch and leaving early than the “ideal” who was kind of an asshole
