LGF Search Enhancement
No, this isn’t like those offers you receive in your email for enhancements of various bodily appendages.
There’s a new feature in the LGF advanced search page: you can now choose to search “Comments only,” which will return a list of direct links to comments that match your search string.
(Note that the LGF search is a literal search for the exact string you type, and it’s case-insensitive; it’s not keyword-based, like Google. If you can’t find what you’re looking for with our built-in search, try Google. That’s what the Google button is for.)
A handy hint: if you want to search for all comments by a particular poster, enter their username immediately followed by a ‘pipe’ character (‘|’). For example, to search for nasty posts within the last seven days by “remotedevice,” enter:
remotedevice|
On most keyboards, the ‘pipe’ character is located above the Return/Enter key, below the Delete/Backspace key, and is typed with Shift-Backslash. It is not: the numeric ‘one’ key or the lowercase ‘L’ key.
A caution: if you use this function, it’s best to limit the time of the search with the popup menu labeled “Search Previous.” If you search all entries this way, it has to search more than a million comments and it will take quite a while.
