i want to throw out a question to the crowd: see those dotted line dividers that separate the posts in our log? those are created with a table set to 100% width, containing one row with a height of 1 pixel propped open with a transparent GIF. the dots are a GIF background image for the TD tag. you know the drill.

so the question is: what’s the best way to do the same thing with a more efficient DIV? i want to continue to use the same GIF as a background image instead of using a CSS border style…
