A little while ago we posted Part One of Samantha Bee’s History of the Religious Right, but Part Two is even better. This features religious right apostate Frank Schaeffer, son of the late Calvinist preacher Francis Schaeffer, talking about his part in the genesis of the anti-choice movement.

And a bonus: here’s the web-only full interview with Frank Schaeffer.

People who think Clinton has a shouting problem should listen to Trump and Bernie.

“Trump’s so forceful and commanding!”
“Bernie gets people’s attention and shows the anger we feel!”
“WHY CAN’T HILLARY STOP BEING SO SHOUTY AND SCREECHY?!”

If Trump has his ass handed to him in November, as I devoutly hope and believe he will, the hard-core theocrats will pretty much have the Republican party to themselves. This is because the automatic response to an electoral debacle will be to whine that Trump was not a “true conservative.” Theocrats will cite his multiple divorces, foul language, and numerous sin-based enterprises as evidence. They wii demand, and probably get, a literal “come to Jesus” moment from the GOP.

On topic:

Have read Frank Shaeffer for a couple of years, but had never been exposed to his public speaking ability until watching this video a couple of days ago.

He obviously was very effective at preaching to the evangelicals as a young man.

Would love to see a debate between Shaeffer and Franklin Graham.

Bernie’s Prayer

Our comrade from Vermont,
Hallowed be your name.
Your revolution come,
Your will be done,
Fuck that corporate whore Hillary.
Give us this day our daily Bern,
and forgive our student debt,
as we tweet against the establishment.
And lead us not into neoliberalism
but deliver us from Wall Street.

Haven’t seen many political signs in folks yards so far, but one neighborhood house did have a Cruz sign in the front yard. Shortly after it appeared, a Hillary sign appeared on the other side of the yard. I’ll bet there were some interesting dinner conversations at that house. <grin>

Driving by today, I noticed that the Cruz sign has disappeared, and only the Hillary sign remains. Heh.

Wanna buy an entire town…. sure you do. Now you’ve got a chance, the GSA is auctioning off an installation in VA that was once used by the NSA. It’s so remote that apparently cell phones don’t reach very well.

The U.S. General Services Administration is pleased to announce the sale of the Sugar Grove Station, 133 Hedrick Drive, Sugar Grove, WV.

Ideal for a corporate training center, a university or academic campus, a spa/clinic, movie studio, or mountain resort, Sugar Grove Station is a wonderfully maintained, practically self-sustaining community nestled in the West Virginia mountains. On its 122.85+/- acre grounds it boasts:

80 single-family homes, many with carports, on lovely tree-lined streets.
A beautiful 3-story, 45,424 sf building which contains 53 small suites which can accommodate up to 105 residents, an industrial kitchen, a dining room, a laundry room, and several lounge areas.
A 20,000 SF public works building , with a loading dock/receiving space, maintenance offices, even a gymnasium!
A six-bay/nine sleeping room/kitchen/lounge area/classroom/control center-equipped fire station.
A lovely modern day care/youth activity center located near the residential area.
A community center, with fireplace, configured to function as a restaurant/club with a bar area. A covered picnic pavilion is adjacent.
Recreational opportunities abound with large playground, swimming and kiddie-pool with changing rooms, basketball, tennis, racquetball courts, running track, football/soccer field, baseball field and great fishing opportunities on the South Fork River!
This and much more comprise this wonderful fenced community.

You can view the auction HERE. Bidding starts at 1 Million Dollars.

Objection on 4 of those characters:

Thanos: If Thanos found the demeanor of Ronan the Accuser juvenile in Guardians of the Galaxy, I cannot see him approving of the behavior of Donald Trump.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter: Given Dr. Lecter’s impeccable sense of culture and manners and his disgust with rudeness, he would find Donald Trump repulsive and would only get near Trump as prelude to ruining, killing, and eating him. Trump steaks for real.

Tal Sinestro: Sinestro would approve of Trump’s use of fear, but would not favor his disorderliness. Still, in the unlikely event a member of the Trump family was given a yellow ring by Parallex, Sinestro would likely work hard to make them a member of his Yellow Lantern Corps.

The Dalek: This one is easy: “Making America Great Again” implies increasing America’s strength relative to the Daleks. This makes Donald Trump a threat to the Daleks, therefore “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!”.

Cool. Though looking at the GSA site indicates you’ll also need aboutat least $450-500K in maintenance costs. Just like Manhattan! Though probably without the good delis and Chinese takeout….

Today I took a long stroll around the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. It’s an affluent area of the city that generally has a bunch of lawn signs popping up a couple weeks before the Primary election. 4 years ago the most signs I saw for President were for Ron Paul with only 1 Romney sign and several Obama signs.

This year I see absolutely NO lawn signs for Trump. Hell, I have only seen a couple Trump bumper stickers. They’re very few and far between. I see a lot of Hillary lawn signs and Bernie bumper stickers. Now what is really amazing is that I’m seeing lawn signs for Gary Johnson on the Libertarian ticket, more than I saw for Ron Paul 4 years ago. It’s starting to make me wonder if “moderate” Republicans are ready to cast protest votes for Johnson…

We’re going to see what happens with the Libertarians now that they nominated Gary Johnson for President and William Weld, the ex-Massachusetts Governor for Vice President. Based on all those Johnson signs I’m seeing I’m wondering if this ticket will have the potential of breaking the 5% barrier. I still don’t understand why the Libertarians held their convention before the primaries have all occurred. I know it doesn’t really matter-we aren’t going to have a Libertarian president, but it seems odd.

67
Bass Reeves  May 29, 2016 • 8:34:22pm

Dark,

Serious question, have you looked at the libertarian party platform? I personally disagree with it based on like..history, and the government’s role in protecting the civil liberties of minorities and the working class, but based on what you may see as your major issues, what do you think? They are a bit isolationist when it comes to foreign policy, but Gary Johnson’s platform statement sounds as legit as Hillary’s.

**edit**
3.5 Rights and Discrimination

Libertarians embrace the concept that all people are born with certain inherent rights. We reject the idea that a natural right can ever impose an obligation upon others to fulfill that “right.” We condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant. Government should neither deny nor abridge any individual’s human right based upon sex, wealth, ethnicity, creed, age, national origin, personal habits, political preference or sexual orientation. Members of private organizations retain their rights to set whatever standards of association they deem appropriate, and individuals are free to respond with ostracism, boycotts and other free market solutions. Parents, or other guardians, have the right to raise their children according to their own standards and beliefs. This statement shall not be construed to condone child abuse or neglect.

I’m against this part of it, I think it’s absurdly naive and allows all manner of injustices against minorities (race, gender, creed). That’s a huge issue for me, but I’m not a WASP.

STERN: Now getting back to dating, and when you got to say to a woman, you gotta go to my personal doctor and I’m gonna have you checked out, is that a tough thing to say to a woman?
TRUMP: It’s amazing, I can’t even believe it. I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s like Vietnam, sort of.
STERN: Hey it’s your personal Vietnam isn’t it?
TRUMP: It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier!
STERN: A lot of guys who went through Vietnam came out unscathed. A lot of guys going through the 80’s having sex with different women came out with AIDS and all kinds of things.
TRUMP: This is better than Vietnam, but it’s uh… it’s more fun.
STERN: A little better, but every v****a is a landmine, haven’t we both said that in private?
TRUMP: [intense laughter] I think it is a potential landmine. There’s some real danger there.
STERN: When you go to a bar, do you ever go with a fleet of doctors and have them check all the women, and then party with the uninfected?
TRUMP: [laughter] The few! You mean the few uninfected!

TRUMP: You have to have a roving doctor, his office has to be in your briefcase. He has to be your best friend. He has to go with you at all times. He has to do onsite tests. [laughter] redstate.com

Repulsive.

One is a bigoted, misogynist, spoiled billionaire who has done nothing but fail upward his entire life, and is now leading the GOP by appealing to their inner Klansman.

The other is a woman who has served as a US Senator and Secretaty of State, in addition to being the object of multiple failed GOP scapegoatings for over a quarter century.

But both are repulsive.

Heh.

For a while, our whole county was flooded with Dr. Ben Carson stickers. It would seem they all disappeared on the same day.

Heh.

Whatever. Any Republican staying home this November is a win IMHO.

Disappointed to see my very best friend posting stupid right wing memes bemoaning why Obama never mentions Muslim slaveowners, well Muslims didn’t comprise the slaveowners in this country, no one talks about pagan slaveowners either in regards to American slavery and while it’s true very few Americans owned slaves, the wealth of the country was built on slavery’s back. The White House, Capitol, and so much was built by slave labor.

These assholes are so headed for FEMA camp:
National Enquirer: Hillary Clinton Caught With Lesbian Lovers (freeper re-post)

Hillary Clinton repeatedly used unsecured phones to contact four of her lesbian lovers — sparking a bombshell scandal that could doom her bid for the White House, The National ENQUIRER has learned in a blockbuster world exclusive! “It is my understanding that Hillary was careless — very careless,” spilled one top Beltway insider. “What she wants to do in her own bedroom is her own business. But she didn’t take the necessary steps to keep her romps with other women secret, and now it’s going to explode in front of every American voter!”

Quite aside from the very dubious veracity of the report, the Inquisitor apparently assumes that Hillary was supposed to use only SECURED phones to arrange these assignations. Huh? Attention, Inquisitarians, actual secured phones are government property and are supposed to be used only for government business. It would be a scandal, albeit a very minor one, if Hillary did use one for this alleged purpose.

Sun shining this morning in the Backwoods, but it was a very bumpy night in the Ohio River Valley.
We got almost two inches of rain in a couple of hours here on the farm, other places got as much as four inches.
I called in my first rain total report just after 1 a.m. and five minutes later the NWS issued a flash flood warning.
Damage reports are still coming in, including a bridge washed out on the Ohio side of the river.

I am exhausted. Gonna head back to bed for a short nap.

I’m against this part of it, I think it’s absurdly naive and allows all manner of injustices against minorities (race, gender, creed). That’s a huge issue for me, but I’m not a WASP.

The Libertarian view on Civil Rights is that since Jim Crow was a matter of State law, those States were in the wrong. But that if States had stayed out of it, free market forces would have allowed hotels and restaurants and theaters who *wanted* black customers to win market share from hotels and restaurants and theaters who didn’t.

Such theory, of course, being based on imagining that 1965 people had the same attitudes as 2016 people and would react to such free market choices the same way that 2016 people would, despite their having been raised with 1940’s-1950’s mindsets. It’s a naiveté based on obliviousness rather than hostility.

I don’t see much reason to imagine that people today, given the opportunity to discriminate, would allow the “free market” to win. And the businesses that *wanted* black customers would be likely to lose their white customers in that kind of market.
The Libertarian view that market forces can overcome bigotry is simply wrong.

I’ve taken to calling him #ChickenLittleFingerTrump because if the name fits…

He, like many other GOPers are quick to surround themselves with flags and service members in uniforms, but the GOP record (and Trump’s record) is littered with denial and avoidance of anything having to do with actually caring for service members once they’ve separated. The VA has long been a mess, and the struggles continue even to this day.

There’s a need for not only more VA funding, but mental health services, job placement services, and increased wages for service members who are still in the service.

I can see how that would work today. I am an atheist in a town of just over one hundred people. If the single store here decided to not sell to atheists, it would not lose business.

I would be forced to go to the next town sixteen miles away, where there are two stores (and the owners both know me). If they did the same, they would not lose business, and the next store is sixty miles away.

The free market without regulation is nothing more than the tyranny of the majority. There is no instance I can think of where the minority can compete without some sort of regulation.

That regulation also prevents every industry and service from becoming one giant monopoly each (which would then not allow someone to take business elsewhere, as there would be no elsewhere).

I think the problem with the Libertarian view that businesses can discriminate at will is that it creates a dangerous slope allowing anyone who thinks their ‘deeply held’ beliefs mean they shouldn’t deal with certain people should be able to refuse to do so. It wasn’t at all a surprise to me following the support of bigoted florists and bakers who refuse to serve gay couples that Kim Davis did emerge and I think I remember even reading about some anti-gay EMTs that refused to treat gay people. I’ve always had a problem with so called “conscious clauses” for pharmacists who oppose birth control. Okay so YOU oppose birth control and that’s your right to do so but when you’re in a business that provides such goods to people, you need to provide them to people. Of course, the right wing morons response is WELL NO ONE FORCES MUSLIM BUTCHERS TO SELL PORK. That’s quite different.

The von Mises economic school that so many of them subscribe tells them to ignore actual data and focus on the theory above all else. The problem with Libertarians is an awful like the problem I have with many Socialists, they don’t account for the real world and real people. Sure leaving a lot up to the states sounds reasonable but when you see that states are the ones that pushed Jim Crow, the same sex marriage bans, etc.

Reminds me of the arguments I had with Economics professors when I was at Pitt 40 years ago. The Economics Department was split between disciples of Milton Friedman’s “Monetarists” and Murray Rothbard’s “Anarcho-Capitalists”.

A hard core Friedmanite kept reciting the bullshit about how free markets are intractably linked to free expression. I asked him why that wasn’t so with Chile under Pinochet and his Chicago Boys? I asked him why Pinochet was rounding up people and jailing them for free expression.

The professor looked me straight in the face and told me that wasn’t happening—our “liberal media” was making that up.

At that moment, I realized that these so called Libertarians live in a Laissez Fairyland!

Or he could say fuck it and retire with some integrity left. Trump’s attacks on McCain didn’t just attack McCain, they attacked all POWs and by going around and endorsing Trump to save his seat as you say showed that McCain at this point in his career cares more about power than integrity.

There has, to my knowledge, never been any libertarian-based government system that has survived any sufficiently long period owing to the fact that at its most base foundation, it is one where the individual with the capital is to be deferred to on all matters, regardless of outcome. What the Libertarians always fail to realize is that society isn’t as homogeneous and in lock-step to their belief system as they are, and there have been may real-world examples where the status quo is still superior than the latest bleatings of some raving Libertarian whack-job. Right now the Libertarian fever-swamp is demanding that the US Air Traffic Control, be privatized, citing how well the Canadian system works. Well, the reality is that the Canuck system had to be bailed out BY THE GOVERNMENT once already, and it’s one-twentieth the side of the US. Furthermore, a senior Delta executive, having seen Canada’s privatized ATC system, heaped a metric shitton of scorn on even attempting to do the same in the US and how such a move would raise fees for general aviation by orders of magnitude, and that the ATC is well along the path of modernizing the current system.

You know who showed he had alot of integrity, Bob Bennett. He apparently spent a lot of time before he died last month apologizing to Muslims for the bigotry his party was showing to Muslims. We’re talking about a man who was in the Senate over 20 years as a Republican and a man whose father was a Republican senator too. Bennett lost his seat to Mike Lee in 2010 but I think Bennett could take some solace that he left with his integrity intact. I can’t say the same for McCain anymore. I agree with William that it started when he chose Palin to appease the bigots in the base but he’s made it even worse since then.

The incident at Petersburg National Military Park is especially egregious. It wasn’t mere vandalism, but theft of artifacts from the park - they dug up buried Civil War items, which are frequently found at markets across the nation.

Looters ripped up parts of Virginia’s Petersburg National Battlefield in an apparent search for relics from a siege that led to the end of the American Civil War in 1865, the National Park Service said ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

Thieves dug a series of small pits looking for artifacts from the Union Army’s nine-month blockade of Richmond and the neighboring city of Petersburg, targeting a field where more than 1,000 Union and Confederate soldiers died, the agency said.

The looters were likely to have found uniform buttons, buckles, bullets and other small metal objects that are difficult to trace, Chris Bryce, chief of interpretation and visitor services at the battlefield, told Reuters on Saturday.

Well, we could start with his most recent example of intransigence: His refusal to even meet with Merrick Garland. Garland was appointed to the Court of Appeals with McCain’s vote, too.

I wonder what the difference is. Why is it today McCain won’t even see the man (claiming that the “people need a right to say, as if the black guy in the White House only serves 3/5 of a term and 5,000,000 more votes than Mitt Romney doesn’t count), when he was all for him before (along with the whole rest of the GOP)?

Why is he following along with Senator McConnell’s “we won’t take up a nominee” (or much of anything else) if McCain is all about good governance and the Constitution?

Other than the fact he is a senator and I am a city councilmember, I believe we swore to uphold and defend the Constitution (just like McCain and I did when we were respectively in the Navy).

If McCain doesn’t like the guy, he can vote against him. But to refuse to see him at all? When he voted for him in the past? Nah, it’s not the black guy in the White House.

I’ll give you this. McCain’s a passive bigot. He doesn’t initiate, he merely goes along with the crowd and laughs at all of the jokes. Then he questions Obama’s loyalty to the US in matters of Foreign Policy - giving him an F - because getting out of Iraq, negotiating nuclear rollback in Iran, and avoiding starting new wars are all things a President shouldn’t do - and then can fall back on his ‘No ma’am, he’s an American’ line from one town hall to show he’s not 100% asshole.

It is that the state GOP in Arizona has decided (correctly, IMO) that judge garland cannot be trusted to uphold the Heller and McDonald decisions and so they support Chuck Grassley freezing Garland out. Not true. Feudalism survived for centuries.

Feudalism is a system of allegiances - I swear fealty to my superior in exchange for land and protection and I become his tenant-in-chief. My vassals swear fealty to me in exchange for the same becoming my tenants on the land I hold in temporary grant from the king. Those vassals are automatically considered to also be vassals of my leige lord whom I have sworn fealty to. In most feudal structures the king is viewed as either vassal to God or to the Land itself and the chain goes all the way down to the meanest villain but there are rights and responsibilities attendant to everyone in the feudal pyramid.

This as utterly unlike the anarchism of the libertarians as anything imaginable

They won’t even give Garland a hearing. Who the fuck are you to say they’ve decided correctly to decide he can’t be trusted.

Based on his past decisions, its a safe assumption. Garland could clear it up by simply announcing that he has come to see the 2nd Amendment as an individual right and will rule on it as such.

It’s not the black guy, especially given that McCain’s son and namesake (John Sidney McCain IV) is married to a black woman. It is that the state GOP in Arizona has decided (correctly, IMO) that judge garland cannot be trusted to uphold the Heller and McDonald decisions and so they support Chuck Grassley freezing Garland out. Grassley still met with Garland, but McCain can’t risk it given the likelihood that such a meeting would be used to portray him as a RINO.

RINO after being the GOP nominee in 2008 and being the AZ Senator for decades by being maverick-y. There’s so much pretzel logic to being a GOPer these days.

Ignore that the GOP is blocking any action on Garland for no other reason than who did the nominating. The GOP is throwing out decades of history and comity on judicial nominations for the US Supreme Court. Refusal to hear the nomination in an election year is a dodge and affront to anyone who cares about the justice system.

If McCain wants to vote against Garland’s nomination, by all means. But allow the hearings and votes.

Doing nothing except obstructionism is all the GOP has left. It’s the Grand Obstructionist Party. And it’s taken a black guy in the White House and the likely first woman to win the presidency to prove it in spades.

If Senator McCain’s constituents think Merrick Garland cannot be trusted, and Senator McCain is representing his constituents, he would vote him down. Voting against him would show the courage of his convictions. Dodging into a (non-trangender) bathroom in the Senate Office Building (okay a little hyperbole there) is so courageous.

You know, if the President is going to start rounding up hundreds of millions of guns, he better get on it. The National Rifle Association has been banging that drum since President Obama first ran for President.

Now they’re switching to Hillary Clinton. It’s almost as if they are afraid or something.

The facts of the matter are that the II Amendment will not be repealed (too many states would rightfully vote against that idea), and no one is going to round up guns.

It is scare mongering, no different than “ISIS children will sneak in over the border!!!” or “Ebola will kill us all!!!” or “Men will pose as transgendered men to assault our wives and daughters!!!”

On the last, I would love to see a Democrat introduce a bill banning Republicans from public bathrooms or other venues with children since there is actually evidence of danger from Republicans. (With the downfall of Ken Starr at Baylor, every Republican involved in the Bill Clinton non-scandal has now been implicated in sex crimes or conspiracy to cover them up.)

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Muslims to reject contraception and have more children.

In a speech broadcast live on TV, he said “no Muslim family” should consider birth control or family planning.

His AK Party has its roots in Islamism and many of its supporters are conservative Muslims.

I don’t like or respect McCain after his last several years in the Senate, but that really isn’t fair. Bork was allowed to, metaphorically, hang himself. He spoke truthfully about what an utter nutcase he was and how utterly insane his beliefs were. The senate took him at his word and voted against him because he would have been the biggest disaster in history as an associate justice.

Since then, all of the nominee’s have been very careful not to expose just how extreme their beliefs really are during the confirmation process. This has been especially true in the case of the current Chief Justice.

Bullshit.

If they had an issue regarding potential decisions, they’d highlight that at the hearings. And vote against him. R’s still have a senate majority, if they all vote no the vote would be no.

As for Grassley’s meeting with Garland… you do realize Grassley wrote an op-ed about that meeting that was published before the meeting even took place.

Grassley doesn’t want a vote because he’s pretty sure the vote won’t go the way he wants.

Going in for a check up with the doc in my opinion is not a press conference.

In most feudal structures the king is viewed as either vassal to God or to the Land itself and the chain goes all the way down to the meanest villain but there are rights and responsibilities attendant to everyone in the feudal pyramid.

This as utterly unlike the anarchism of the libertarians as anything imaginable

I don’t think this is what the Freedom Project folks envision for New Hampshire when they finally gain a majority in the state government. If it happens, I predict our already terrible roads will go to hell.

Yeah…I know…Clinton continued bombing Iraq at least once every six days (There was a Harper’s Index about this at the end of his term - longest period without a US bomb falling somewhere in Iraq for 12 years was six days) for his entire term. Bush 41’s little war never really ended, did it?

It’s not the black guy, especially given that McCain’s son and namesake (John Sidney McCain IV) is married to a black woman. It is that the state GOP in Arizona has decided (correctly, IMO) that judge garland cannot be trusted to uphold the Heller and McDonald decisions and so they support Chuck Grassley freezing Garland out. Grassley still met with Garland, but McCain can’t risk it given the likelihood that such a meeting would be used to portray him as a RINO.

Under feudalism, nobody owned anything, they held it in fief for their lord, all the way up to the King, who held it in the name of his people. Libertarianism is all about the primacy of private property ownership.

And every libertarian thinks they will be the owners, rather than all economic power concentrated in the hands of a few wealthy corporations and individuals.

How’s private property working out in Somalia?

Libertarianism can only lead to totalitarians or feudalism.

I don’t understand why government is this all-encompasing evil that must be opposed, so monopoly ownership of everything can rule instead. I can vote (especially at the lower levels of government) for the folk I feel are most representative of my values. I have no say over Microsoft, Exxon/Mobil, strip mining companies, a lead smelting plant next to a school, &c.

Libertarianism is a religion, no different than Christianity or Islam. Its god is money, its altar is the free market, and its holy books are “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged.” Its tenets cannot be contested unless you are a heretic.

No I didn’t burn any flags, but I was attacked by a dog that got loose while I was hoisting the flags in the park. I was uninjured; the owner came barrelling out of his garage to corral his dog, who ran up the street.

Interestingly, over at the Village Hall, I ran across an unfamiliar woman walking a dog along the street. (There are quite a few people in town that do not live here for Memorial Day, visiting family.) As I approached the Village Hall flagstaff to hoist the flag to full-staff, she snapped to attention until the action was completed. (The only time I have seen that in my little town of 128 is when a veteran happens by when I am hoisting or lowering the flags.)

re: #357 wrenchwench

We’ve come a long way, and have some distance to go, yet.

I am having a problem with obtaining sufficient medication for my upcoming trip to Canada.

Since Oklahoma and Virginia used Phenobarbital to execute prisoners, the European Union first moved to block the sale of the medication to the USA. (Phenobarbital is not the first choice of neurologists in the USA, but I am allergic to the Dilantin analogues and gabapentin, and the Navy prescribed that to me after many other trials.)

One of the unsung wins of President Obama’s early administration was intervening on behalf of those of us who need Phenobarbital with the EU to reach an agreement to keep the drug available for its legitimate purpose (epilepsy and status epilepticus, the latter a fatal disorder of continual seizures only controllable with barbiturates).

Phenobarbital is licensed by the Danish firm Lundbeck. The company is required to follow EU law, which includes not facilitating the death penalty.

The problem is the agreement itself: In any state where there are death row inmates (while Nebraska has repealed the death penalty it did not commute the sentences of those on death row), one can only obtain a prescription of thirty day’s supply. My trip is scheduled for longer than that; as such, the Veterans Administration cannot obtain the necessary medication on my behalf.

I ran into the same problem last year when I went to Germany and Poland; I have a friend I was meeting in Germany that is a physician in Switzerland. He was willing to obtain the necessary amount of medications for me for my trip. As it happens, I had extra left over from my move here from a commercial pharmacy that filled the gap, but I no longer have those.

re: #350 Eric The Fruit Bat

Yet they conveniently ignore the incident where a female gorilla saved a life of a toddler back in the 1990s at Brookfield.

Gaah. Those folks who have lost a sense of history should be prevented from voting.

And conveniently forget that that particular gorilla was female, and had been raised by humans. There’s a difference in behavior between males and females of wild species.

Garland’s record on guns is the only thing giving liberals pause about him. The man’s a centrist.

And as for myself, I see nothing wrong with that.

“Keep in mind that our newest generation of voters have never known the US not to be a nation at war with someone or some idea.”

When were we not? (Speaking as an old….)

Really. I was born in 1961. Cold war going on, then Vietnam going balls to the wall by the later 60’s. Then you can just start singing Billy Joel’s “We didn’t start the fire” from the 70’s on.

I fail. I am the dishwasher.

People used to ask the wife and I if we had a dishwasher. I always told them, “Yeah, we named them at birth.”. The youngest, and only one left at home, still has to do them by hand even though there really is a dishwasher. We don’t really dirty up enough stuff to run a load most times anyway, holidays maybe.
