Glenn Beck Suspended From SiriusXM for a Week After Guest Suggests Assassinating Trump

Trump is ripping the conservative movement to shreds
Wingnuts • Views: 44,618

Glenn Beck has been suspended for a week from SiriusXM, after guest Brad Thor suggested a “patriot” might need to “step up” and assassinate Donald Trump if he’s elected.

At least this time the right wing kooks who appear on Glenn Beck’s radio show weren’t suggesting assassinating a Democrat.

It’s pretty amazing how Donald Trump has driven these people so far around the bend, but not so amazing that their rhetoric is every bit as hateful and extreme — just directed at a different target than usual.

During Wednesday’s “Glenn Beck Radio Program,” fiction writer Brad Thor said he “guarantees” Trump would temporarily suspend the Constitution during his possible presidency and is a “danger to America.”

“With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as President?” Thor said. “If Congress won’t remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that if he oversteps his mandate as President, his constitutional-granted authority, I should say, as President.”

[…]

In a statement to Politico, the network said the comments “may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which SiriusXM cannot and will not condone.”

Threaten to assassinate a Democratic President and you become a right-wing hero. Threaten to assassinate a Republican candidate and you are suspended.

Does anyone else think statements like that are basically anger porn?

No, seriously.

The point of this kind of big talk is cycling the arousal of anger by imagining the source of anger—the obstacle to a goal—then deriving pleasure from imagining the removal of that obstacle.

Now, everybody fantasizes and everybody has these kinds imaginary catharsis exercises, but we’ve got an actually fucking culture of masturbatory anger, and a political movement to transforming anger-wanking into social reality, plus a billion dollar-industry of shouty people putting together rage-fapping material about how righteous angry dudes will beat down all the nasty straw men.

How the fuck are we supposed to notice the dangerous angry people in a community where anger is nurtured, encouraged, and specifically channeled into the language of heroic violence and just retaliation?

Last I saw Bernie didn’t exactly work for Brown’s endorsement. Tough shit BBs.

19
Kragar  May 31, 2016 • 12:17:40pm

The Washington Post explains what a total scaredy-cat Jerry Brown is, and how he is endorsing Hillary Clinton even though he obviously doesn’t want to, again because of his noted and long-standing pussydom that he is super well-known for, in its best journalism ever, “California Gov. Jerry Brown praises Sanders on his way to lukewarm endorsement of Clinton.”

The Washington Post never links to Jerry Brown’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton in its longish post about how much Jerry Brown wishes he could endorse Bernie Sanders but I guess he can’t because Hillary Clinton will murder him or his stupid corgis. But the Washington Post doesn’t need to link to Brown’s endorsement, because it explains all his motives very clearly for you. Shut up and listen them!

Between Jerry Brown and Barney Frank, you’d think people would get the hint that Bernie’s not the team player for the Democrats, and that Hillary’s a whole lot more progressive than the Bernie bros would ever give her credit for.

It wont be long before the Bernie bros 15 minutes of infamy will be up. And then they can return to their regularly scheduled broadcasts of FauxNews urgently awaiting the news that Hillary will get indicted for something.

Jerry Brown, Barney Frank, Elizabeth Warren, John Lewis…the list keeps growing of people they’re prepared to blame for Bernie’s failure. The running theme is that all these people are successes because of the DNC and not in spite of it, so brogressives have nothing but hate and bile when these progressive icons refuse to support the guy who has nothing nice to say about the party he joined out of convenience.

Went to see The Heiress this weekend at the Palo Alto theater. Olivia de Havilland, Montgomery Clift…great film. Naive, somewhat mousy girl from a well to do family gets treated like shit by her father and falls in love with a handsome skunk of a man who only loves her for her money to come.

First half of the movie plays like a romantic comedy - except for Daddy’s resentment of his little girl…then she gets hardened by his meanness. And then she turns cold. And if you’re familiar with Mary Gauthier’s song “When a Woman Goes Cold” the rest of the movie plays out just like that. Really well made, well acted, and no storybook happy ending like Hollywood does now to ruin every film they make.

Here’s the song I mentioned. It’s worth a listen.

Trump shilled for screwing people out of their life-savings. That’s what Trump “U” was all about.

Forget the multiple state cases against Trump for misusing “University” when it was not accredited under NYS law (a big no-no, which Trump ignored for years). He purposefully took advantage of a lot of people because he was on TV and people thought he would share his real estate insights with them.

He did no such thing.

He enriched himself by taking money from his marks. And he continues sucking at taxpayers’ teats by getting tax breaks on his properties by undervaluing them for tax purposes while claiming that he’s worth many times their value for purposes of running for President.

The GOP thought they’d caught a break when the Trump University trials were moved to next year. Instead, now they’ve got to endure the slow drip of evidence to the press, with each new revelation only furthering the image of Trump as a charlatan and scam artist.

Well after email servers and Benghazi I am going to find it real hard to feel sorry for the GOP.

What is that thing !?!

Lick Your Cat With LICKI, A Giant Silicone Tongue On Kickstarter

LICKI is a silicone brush shaped like a giant tongue that will supposedly allow you to bond with your cat by licking it.

“Cats groom each other as a form of social bonding,” the Kickstarter page from Jason O’Mara of PDX Pet Design stated. “There’s also evidence to suggest that cats view and treat their human captors as large cats. As a human, you’re left out of the intimate licking ritual. At best, you have a one-sided licking relationship with your cat.”

In theory, the LICKI would help the affection run both ways, no actual cat-licking necessary. On the other hand, it does look pretty weird:

I doubt the Democrats will do much, since even though they let Bernie run, what hurt him big time was not following the rules.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Republicans do away with winner-take-all. It allowed Trump to look like a bigger winner than he was, and proportional contests didn’t hurt Democrats in 2008.

Republicans might keep the winner take all, but the could do something where delegates aren’t awarded mostly by district, move it to the state level like the Democrats have. Or something similar that would have prevented Trump from sweeping states that were allegedly proportional.

I would think the party is less concerned about damage Bernie did to himself than it is about the damage he did to the party and its chosen nominee. That said, the current rules do seem to work in that we are nominating a good, qualified candidate who is also dedicated to building the party.

I personally don’t see that what Sanders and his supporters have done up to this point as being any more damaging than what Clinton and supporters did in 2008 (that could change after she wins the nomination). But any shenanigans after the nomination could be done by a Democrat as well, it’s not like Democrats don’t have a history of that.

He said he was the head of Criminal Division of the Justice Department and knows a few things about criminality in the government and he doesn’t think there is any indication of criminal activity in regards to her emails. We also don’t allow Nazis here. Must be very closed-minded of us.

You know, it WOULD be nice if there were some responsible opposing posters here, if only to prevent groupthink and confirmation bias. But honestly, I have yet to see a right wing poster who could really do defend their views with data. That, more than anything else, drove me to see Conservatism as no longer a coherent ideology, if it ever was.

He makes so little effort, I can’t be bothered to downding him. That’s what I mean about no responsible opposing viewpoints. There’s no meat in anything he posts, it’s all just meaningless, pointless swings at people. He’s more like a gnat than a troll.

Too.Bad. You. Feel. That. Way.Miss. Originality.

You lurk a lot obviously.

And you know that is pretty pathetic when you are trying to be all cool and stuff and put everyone here down.

But since it is also obvious that you are a ‘my-shit-doesn’t-stink kind of a guy you’re probably not able to see it through the vapors.

re: #281 ObserverArt

I lurk surprisingly little. I let many months elapse before I even look in on what is going on here, as my trail shows. Also, I never pretended to be cool and I have no idea what the rest of post means.

It’s really obvious that you have a mental-health issue. Well-adjusted people don’t intentionally seek out smarter people to say foolish things to. Stick to the RWNJ sites, and your clueless peers will reward you for regurgitating the things that Wingnut media fills your limited minds with. Here you’ll find pity at best. I’m embarrassed for you. I don’t like watching troubled people act out.

Nice attempt at a put-down but even your LGF brethren will recognize it as a very weak and ineffectual. Perhaps if you put a period after every word. Some think that is clever.

Not always. Remember the great purge of 2008-2009?

I remember it well. Those who were “purged” were extremists and blowhards who wouldn’t stop making the same offensive, often bigoted, comments even after warned over and over and over by the blog proprietor.

Most commenters here have said stupid and weird shit over the years, and never had to worry about being blocked. And that includes me. Because, even when we say dumb shit or type while intoxicated, we don’t cross lines into racist and xenophobic and misogynistic territory. It’s pretty simple actually.

I guess we’ll hear from you again in a year and a half. Already breathlessly waiting.

Just kidding, I’ll completely forget about this 5 seconds after clicking “post it.”
