Also, this is election interference - sowing distrust and winking to the Kremlin. Maybe they can help again?

It’s just kayfabe. Also, you’re looking for internal consistency where it simply doesn’t exist. In his mind there’s no disconnect between him trying to create better relations with Russia and also trying to sell the notion that he’s the toughest President we’ve ever had when it comes to standing up to Russia. Both of these ideas dovetail neatly together in his ego dominated mindset. Since Russian interference on his behalf is a real political problem it’s logical for him to just DARVO it into a situation where they were and are helping the Democrats.

Exactly. He’s just scrambling since the Helsinki meeting blew up so spectacularly. Also he’s been saying for about a year now as part of his denials of any collusion between his campaign and Russia that there was collusion between Democrats and Russia. It’s perfectly consistent for him to try to paint Democrats with his own sins, to say Putin actually is afraid of him and wants Trump’s enemies to win. Every single one of these arguments feeds his ego, which is all that really matters to him.

In light of the events and info learned over the last 48 hours, we now know that Michael Cohen is trying to play both sides while he is in reality courting a pardon. He is looking out only for himself and Mr. Trump. He will never change. Let the chips fall where they may. #Basta

Cohen is a weasel and he is going to try to save his butt until he can no longer save it. He probably does think Donny isn’t going to forget him and he is still loyal to him no matter what.

It’s a sick relationship. It’s also a dangerous relationship.

I think Manafort is proving that too. Paul doesn’t seem like he is going to go against The Don either. He looks like he is going to go through a trial.

Where Cohen hopes Trump saves him in time, Manafort hopes he can save his own butt from the Russians by taking the hit.

If Trump doesn’t save Cohen, he too is probably worried about Russians. Does he have the makeup to take a trial and a sentence if no pardon comes?

Even here in Wisconsin, there really aren’t many “smaller family farms”. Your typical dairy operation has over 1,000 cows, your typical crop operation is working over 800 acres. They may be “privately owned” as opposed to public stock ownership, but they are multi-million dollar ventures. No different from Menards, privately owned, a few family members involved, doesn’t make them a family hardware store as I remember them.

I keep going to the point that Cohen was an employee of the Trump Org. (correct?) for many years.

When they describe him as a fixer, they are missing the big point, he was a paid employee of the corrupt org.

Small farmers will be bought off for $50. to $100K. That’s enough to help “save” a small farm and ensure the farming community votes. The big bucks will go to the multi-national agricultural corporations. Just another pay-off along with the reduced taxes.

I’m going to our family reunion next week. It started when i was a kid in the 1960s. We went to the head farm in western Illinois. A lot of my cousins farmed in an area from Peoria down to Quincy. The last of them quit and sold out about 15 years ago. Couldn’t make it work and it was better to sell to the Ag-corporations. For the last 15 years of so the reunion has moved from a farm to a hotel/convention center. We can’t really afford it, but my elderly parents still go, and so we feel that we have to attend. The farming core of my family in my generation abandoned farming because they couldn’t make it. I can’t afford to keep going to these reunions with $30-per-plate dinners at convention hotels. It’s amazing how things have changed in my lifetime.

Hmm, no applicable training—sounds like the guy who designed the water slide in Kansas where a state rep’s kid died.

The Verrückt, a hybrid roller-coaster and waterslide ride, was the brainchild of Jeff Henry, who co-owns the company with his siblings. Investigators say Henry decided to build the ride in a “spur-of-the-moment bid to impress producers of Travel Channel’s Xtreme Waterparks series.” He and a longtime friend and business partner, John Schooley, were in charge of designing the ride and making the necessary calculations, even though neither of them had any credentials in mathematics, physics or engineering, the indictment says.

re: #43 Old Liberal

Even here in Wisconsin, there really aren’t many “smaller family farms”. Your typical dairy operation has over 1,000 cows, your typical crop operation is working over 800 acres. They may be “privately owned” as opposed to public stock ownership, but they are multi-million dollar ventures. No different from Menards, privately owned, a few family members involved, doesn’t make them a family hardware store as I remember them.

Speaking of that MF’er John Menard, I’ve been seeing a lot of “Menards” t-shirts of late. Don’t know where they’re coming from or if the people wearing them actually think the pro-customer rah-rah manure on them is real but they nauseate me whenever I see one.

Honestly, I think we’re going to need to be on our guard against electoral fuckery from foreign powers of all kinds - not just Russia - every electoral cycle for decades, at the least. The rampant success of Putin’s infiltration of American government will only encourage other wannabe world powers with deep pockets and talented cyber warfare departments to do the same.

(I guess it was out earlier in the day, but that was the first time I’d heard it. They been playing the long game. They are still attacking and we are not defending.

What it would take now is pro American hackers to counter attack without the blessing of the US government. We too can have extra governmental patriots fighting for American wins. Penetrating power grids and defense networks.

The state of the art of hacking is attackers win. Offense has the natural advantage by a large margin. Our government guys are leashed. But not our black hats. The other riskier play is asymmetric. A software attack is retaliated against physically. Or physical embargoes against nations that harbor hostile coders.

Or we fall to the military option. Americans start dying in a heat wave because the Russians hacked the grid? That’s a (hopefully) limited war.

In a way yes. But then there is so much more in and around the original case of collusion that makes it way more complicated than Nixon.

There is just so much going on and then you have Trump being an awful president to go along with it, plus the continued collaboration with the Russians.

And then there is the in-your-face-America arrogance.

In my opinion Trump is way more in deep illegally than Nixon. Nixon was bad, but really his criminal doing was small bungling gang as compared to Trump’s (and Putin’s?) Mob Family.

I think he’s right.

Dems have a prime opportunity here to demand the funding be tied to the DREAM Act.

I think he’s right.

Katy Tur interviewed Amy Klobuchar about the bailout this evening and Amy talked about where the money would come from and how important it is to make sure that farmers are treated fairly. She didn’t just come right out and say that the tariffs were stupid. She walks a pretty fine line trying to represent everyone in the state of MN. I like her but I’d like to hear her trash-talk Trump more than she does.

Nauseating melodrama and stilted English; textbook divide-and-howl garbage like you find all over social media.

If I was dictator, there would be a really big “accidental” fire at that building in Saint Petersburg where they churn this crap out…

I remain convinced that the NRA’s social media feeds are run by someone from overseas, probably a “consulting company” LLC whose registered agent address is an apartment rented by the douchebag nephew of a mid-level Russian state bank executive, somewhere in Virginia… It would be really interesting for someone to dig into that, I bet… hmmm

Signature Bank also offers credit cards through various other companies who stick their brand on them. I used to have one.

And he’s a really nice guy, too.
