INTERNATIONAL GUITAR NIGHT
Each year, International Guitar Night’s founder Brian Gore invites a new cast of guitar luminaries from around the world for special concert tours of North America (IGN) and Germany (NDG) highlighting the diversity of the acoustic guitar.
For International Guitar Night’s 19th year of touring, Brian has assembled another incredible, dynamic quartet: Guest host Luca Stricagnoli, Italy’s explosive contemporary showman, returns by popular demand, joined by two of France’s acclaimed young prodigies, Swing guitarist Antoine Boyer and Flamenco guitarist Samuelito, and the ground-breaking Turkish fretless guitarist Cenk Erdoğan.
In this video, they perform their arrangement of “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC.
In the video, from left to right: Cenk Erdogan, Luca Stricagnoli, Antoine Boyer, Samuelito.

CL’d

It seems like Drumpf is realizing he’s losing the narrative, which he is. His bullshit is being overcome by events, which should have been obvious. His peons are acting out what he has asked them to do.

I’m going to bed.

I have not commented very much this weekend because I have been so enraged about what has been happening. We are on the edge of a civil war, and this idiot in the White House has done his best, even if he didn’t realize it (He didn’t, he’s that clueless.), to kick it off before the mid-terms.

Get out and vote. Get out and vote. Repeat that every day to anyone who will listen. We vote or our democracy dies. Peace, and sweet scaly dreams.

Damn. A plane (737) from Indonesia goes down shortly after takeoff. Perhaps a mechanical problem since apparently the crew requested that plane turn around.

I don’t know what I might have done to prompt these, but in the past 3 days I have received about 50+ spam emails from St. Vincent, Malta (and Stockton, CA) offering me all sorts of hot sex with a variety of hot women. Between the chastising fundraising emails and these, my spam file has had more than 500 messages in the past week. Who knew I was so popular!

We knew this more than two years ago.

This President has absolutely no interest in speaking to ALL the American people.

He is not capable of healing. He is not capable of unifying. That’s not who he is. That’s not who he’ll ever be.

screw ‘speaking to all americans’

he’s supposed to BE the president of all americans

using the power of the office, he actually singles out and targets individual citizens

Citizen K  Oct 29, 2018 • 5:59:32am

So over the weekend, been having some issues with Verizon trying to switch over to a new contract, and forced to ride out the old service we currently have with spotty, limited access to things.

Twitter, somehow, is one of the few things that will still connect at home. At some point, I kind of wish it didn’t.

I’m just fucking tired right now. All these tragedies, and we’re still ‘both sides same thing’-ing them. We’re still insisting that Trump’s shit don’t stink when he lays the blame at lack of guns (at his most well-behaved, yet). We still have news outlets softplaying the hate behind these and insisting ‘maybe that synagogue should have locked its doors’.

And now another country dominoes into the infinite rolling right-wing hate that seems to be taking over the entire fucking world, while Angela Merkel steps down because of course.

I’m just fucking tired….

Alrighty, Lizards - my Vaio bit the dust after six years of faithful service. I´m using a tiny Asus now, but how do I change the program language settings in Windows 7? Without the Windows 7 install disc?

If I had the dough, I would just go out and buy a good used laptop: so for the time being I´m stuck with this, at least until I can maybe find one that someone is giving away.

Even if it were suspicious (and I think it’s just unfortunate coincidence instead, though one that underscores why you break up delegations so your entire division isn’t lost at once), you still owe us an apology for linking a thread that packed with Hillary-as-murderess and QAnon conspiracy nuts :-p

ObserverArt  Oct 29, 2018 • 6:33:36am

Morning.

I see on the last thread the Pittsburgh Jewish leaders told Trump he is not welcome to Pittsburgh until he denounces white supremacists.

If I remember right didn’t Trump say he represents Pittsburgh and not Paris?

I guess some do not want his representation.

Yet, it was Western Pennsylvania that helped give trump the state in the Electoral College.

I see trouble a brewing over that. There are a lot of Pittsburgh wingnuts that are not going to take kindly to that. And Trump might see that as a challenge to his base.

That all makes me uncomfortable about what may happen yet.

I hope I am wrong.

They say to us that we must be concerned not merely about who murdered them, but about the system, the way of life, the philosophy which produced the murderers. Their death says to us that we must work passionately and unrelentingly for the realization of the American dream.

One of the victims in Saturday’s shooting was from Ross Township, a little town not far from the city limits of Pittsburgh. Ross also happens to be where my fourth great grandparents were among the first settlers about 220 years ago and where my third great grandmother became the first American born person in my direct line in 1804. Richard Gottfried was a dentist and an advocate for immigrants and refugees. Richard lived in Ross. I believe some of my father’s cousins and their children mentioned knowing him on FB as they have remained in the Pittsburgh area since their mother/grandmother- Dad’s Aunt stayed in Pittsburgh. I always have felt a special kinship to that city since well it’s the city where my family first lived when we got here. It’s where my Dad’s parents met and fell in love and where they transcended class since Dad’s father was from a much more affluent background and his mother wasn’t. It was also something of a big deal when my great grandparents whose surname I possess married. Lutheran-Catholic marriages aren’t a big deal now but they no doubt were in many quarters 115 years ago.

My Windows 7 knowledge is a bit hazy, but I think you need a language-specific CD to switch the OS language. I have this problem here in China. My office PC is Win7 with Chinese system language. Later versions of Windows (like Linux had years before) allow you to switch the system language without much hassle.

For Cat Day, I am in mourning. My feral female Chica has lost her five kittens. Apparently a raccoon or coyote. I feel so sorry for her. She was in active mourning yesterday, looking everywhere for them. She actually let me stroke her this morning, and check her udders, which are full and tight, but no longer hot.

And the worst is that it is my fault. She had the kittens in a filthy, junk filled old shed. When I cleaned it out, and felt so proud at giving them a clean play place, she moved them, and here we are.

I have a serious sadz with guilt on top.

Just for the hell of it, I decided to see how to change languages on my MacBook. “System Preferences”, “Language and Region”. Czech wasn’t one of my Preferred languages, so click the “+” to add a language, choose “Čeština (Czech)”, click “Add”. Then it asks if I want to make Czech my Primary Language—which I was very careful not to do. I didn’t want to have to find a Czech speaker to change it back! It said some functions might not switch until after a restart. So…6 clicks in all?

Your initial post made me so sad for you. I’m glad the little furballs are still around.

They are the cutest little fuzzballs: right at that adorable stage where they stare, pounce, and then fall over. One black, one calico, one black and white, two yellow and white. Taking orders? [grin] All I have to do is to get them all where I can handle them, and get them in to get “fixed.”

I was sad, but especially so since I thought it was something I had done that had caused them to be killed.

“…Trump’s seemingly endless stream of violent comments aimed at everyone from the free press and immigrants to Hillary Clinton and black political and sports figures are neither unhinged nor spur of the moment. They are calculated to inflame the unhinged and angry to violence. And when that violence erupts, from the alleged MAGAbomber and the synagogue terrorist to the Kentucky supermarket murderer, it’s mission accomplished. That mission is to terrify opponents, one seemingly random act at a time, while Trump and his political allies try to maintain plausible deniability.

But behind that placid whataboutism that claims “both sides” are guilty and that there’s really nothing wrong is the warning that George Orwell wrote in “1984”: “The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression …The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?”

Gasoline won’t cause matches to light is the weakness in the first one.

As an artist I want to defend the first. Also, I always caution people to not be so quick to be literal to what you see and the point out good art is to make you think.

If you have gasoline and matches, they aren’t a direct link in as you say gas won’t cause matches to light.

However, a can of gas around a bunch of matches means you are > < that close to having the matches go off and the gas makes it all that more dangerous when they do.

You can light a match, and by it’s own it won’t do much. Pour out some “gas” (Trump incitement) and then light one of those matches and you might as well have a bomb.

Trump pours his gas all over this country. One match lit up on Saturday and look at what happened.

Trump’s “gas” makes the environment of all those wingnut matches dangerous where if he didn’t pour his gas all over, they would not be.

It is the combination of Trump and wingnuts that has the potential to cause them to burn down this country.

By the way, I think both are good. Why do we need to have one better than the other?

I was hoping you’d see that. Thank you!

The one I vividly remember was some presser he had where he went off on a constituent asking a question. He was VERY Chris Christie in that video. And it is the one that cemented in my mind that this guy really is a total dick.

Here is a great moment (1st video) that tells you all about Kasich being dickish. This was the editorial board interviewing Kasich and Ed FitzGerald when he ran his last campaign in 2014.

He is churlish, arrogant and dismissive. Look at his body language. He really is an ass.

The other great Kasich moment (2nd video) is when he was pulled over for not moving over a lane when passing a patrol car/emergency on the side of the road.

Law and order conservative…laws are for everyone else…don’t expect Kasich to think they are from him.

I hope people remember all of this if the clown thinks he is going to run for president…which he most likely will do.

I have a bad feeling with all the violent rhetoric from the Right, there’s going to be a Srebrenica-style massacre of immigrants, by militia types.

The really discouraging and almost unprecedented part is that Cheeto and the RW media are doing everything they can to incite it. Of course, the vigilantes are notoriously boastful and cowardly and their threats are mostly hot air. Nevertheless there is a real danger if a situation develops where the armed racists have an overwhelming concentration of force and a convenient target.

Well, they don’t. As long, of course, as said devices are “malfunctioning” in the correct direction.
I get the distinct feeling that if those voting machines were changing “Cruz” votes to “O’Rourke”, the State would be having flying squads of techs out these pulling those machines and replacing them before you could say “Beto”…

What makes the right wing domestic terrorist who sent bombs to prominent Democrats and those on Trump’s enemies list any different from the rest of the bigot brigade base that follows Trump unconditionally?

It’s not the rhetoric.

It’s not the value signaling.

He’s indistinguishable from the fever swamp on the right that the Fox/GOP cultivated and Trump exploited in ways the GOP refuses to address to this very day. They are incapable of admitting they’ve created this beast - mostly because they benefit from it, and the leaders know that fear keeps the GOP base in line and voting and active.

Trump is a fearful angry bitter white guy; that’s why he connects with the GOP base that feels the same way - mostly because they see others - minorities - encouraged to engage in the political process and get chance to help them reach equality with whites (and for which whites take for granted).

Therefore, Trump and the GOP seek to deprive women and minorities of the gains for the past 70 years all while the GOP leaders push for tax breaks to millionaires like Trump that won’t ever trickle down benefits to everyone else, all while the burdens go those who can’t endure them.

We’re constantly told we should talk to Republicans to understand their needs or wants. I agree as far as anyone seeking office should be a representative of all or his constituents.

So I gave that a try in the post office this morning when I was mailing a water sample to the state lab. There were two other people there, the postmistress and the gun shop owner.

After doing my business mailing the package to the state water lab, I opened with concern about this morning’s package bomb sent to CNN and the list captured of a number of prominent Democratic politicians and media personalities. Here’s how that went.

After simply mentioning the news, and expressing concern for both the intended target and the people in the Post Office who had to handle these packages, I got some whataboutism, both from the postmistress and the gun shop owner.

In my mentioning the package bomb this morning, I only mentioned the list and my concern. I did not make it a political statement.

The postmistress immediately interpreted that as “Doesn’t Trump have the right of free speech?”

I said, sure as far as that goes. But Mr. Trump has a special duty as President of all Americans to be careful in the words he chooses. He represents all of us, both those who voted for him and those who didn’t.

The gun shop owner first questioned if these were real or fake bombs, so I explained that ATF and the FBI had already determined they were real; the bomber seemed to have failed only in using poor-quality batteries.

“Well if they were fake what’s the problem?”

I pointed out it doesn’t matter if a bomb is real or fake (but appears real). It is illegal to mail either one, to which the postmistress chimed in “Yup.”

I then pointed out that any high-profile attack, regardless of who did it or why, tends to spawn local copycats.

I don’t think anyone here would go so far as to send me a mail bomb, but everyone in the county knows I am a Democratic village trustee. If some chowderhead in the local area decides to try the same stunt locally, he’d risk our postmistress and anyone else in the mail stream, our local rural mail delivery clerk, and maybe my elderly neighbour (who’s mailbox is affixed to the same post as mine). Some local guy trying to get famous through terror could injure or kill a whole bunch of people. The same if they sent it to a local radio station or newspaper.

That caused a change in attitude, when I put it in terms of “it could be you.”

I’m sure I didn’t make two brand-new Democratic voters, but I got them to think about this violence a different way (I hope).
