The best argument is that it is a regulatory taking under the fifth amendment. It’s been a long time since I’ve delved into that area of the law, so I don’t remember exactly how it balances against state police powers

re: #552 KGxvi

I thought they were giving him until Labor Day?

I don’t know which shit show I’d rather see more:

1. Trump just randomly announcing that he’s decided not to seek re-election because we as a nation don’t deserve his amazing leadership and the ensuing clusterfuck floor fight at the GOP convention
2. The GOP establishment finally getting so worried about Trump sinking their chances to hold power that they put another name into nomination to cause a floor fight
3. Trump resigning, Pence pardoning him and his family, and then the clusterfuck floor fight that happens when Trump shows up at the convention and decided he wants to be president again afterall

Thinking about it more, there’s another intriguing aspect to this…

There’s a potential for some trump supporters to undervote down ballot races. Imagine: Trump wins South Carolina 52-46, but say 10% of Trump’s voters are pissed at Graham for not properly supporting Trump and they either don’t vote in the Senate or vote third party that could swing some senate seats

There will be Republicans that get re-elected this time because that’s just the way things are. But there are a couple of interesting states that could give us splits. More likely though is that Trump loses more states than most of us expected and takes down a few senators along the way (Alaska seems to be the newest interesting place)

This is the second Republican presidency that ends (or at least hopefully ends) with a collapsed and failing U.S.

2nd in the cable news era; but I seem to recall another big one about 90 years ago. Do we count the S&L recession as 1/2 of a Republican presidency ending (because the Alzheimer patient was succeeded by the guy who’d been covering for him)?

During the Hungarian uprising of the late 50s, the street fighters found that liquid soap in industrial volumes plays hell with hobnail boots and tank treads. This assumes hard-surfaced streets. A slug of soap in molotov cocktails also made them stick where they were sent. History, bitches.

I’ve never had a KFC pot pie, but I can tell you that, growing up, Swanson frozen pot pies were a big favorite of mine.

In retrospect, I probably helped keep that smarmy fuck Tucker Carlson in polo ponies, which I regret.

Memories of college when I kept a stack of 79¢ Swanson Fried Chicken dinners in my dorm room freezer…

Went to Kroger this morning for the first time since they made masks mandatory for service at all Kroger stores. I must say, for a Saturday the place was a bit less crowded than normal. And for THE first time since Operation Enduring Shitshow began, every single person was wearing a mask and no one complained except one lady in the produce section who got put back into reality by her teenage son. He was just “Mom, it’s not all day, just while we’re here. Geesh!” Heh. I do expect to see at least one Karen or Kyle be a brat at some point, but I was actually pleasantly surprised.

I went to Microcenter to find a way to replace my son’s computer. And it looked like everyone decided this was a good weekend to find computers for college. I’ve shown up at the store and there only be about 5 cars in the lot. That was not the case today.

For those of you who know what Fry’s is, it looked like they’re getting out of the PC business. You can’t even buy one at their Plano store anymore.

That can work too, but… canned air (or air compressor air ) makes condensed moisture on surfaces so hopefully you are giving it a bit of time to dry.

If it makes you feel any better, when Mrs. Fish and I ordered delivery here earlier this evening, apparently the delivery driver forgot my food on the kitchen counter. I wound up having to wait an extra half hour to get my order.

That turns into a weird situation because you want to not tip the delivery person because of the screw-up but you also know that they’re getting paid shit for doing delivery work. My least favorite thing is tipping well when paying in advance but then getting really bad service. Hope that your food was still warm when it arrived.

The DHS “Operation Carrie Nation” will put a stop to that.

Carrie Nation has the image today of a sprightly little old lady daring to challenge tough guy saloon keepers in a lone crusade against drunkenness. Challenge them she did but she was actually a pretty tough character herself, 6 feet all and weighing over 200 pounds, not to mention her trademark hatchet. It also helped that she did her best work in Kansas, where saloons were illegal. The law was rarely enforced but it left the saloon-keepers with little recourse when Carrie came in and wrecked the joint. She also had an entourage of reporters and fans with her when she did her saloon-busting. Many bar owners put up signs that said, “All Nations Welcome, Except Carrie.”
