All the streets are filled with laughter and light
And the music of the season
And the merchants’ windows are all bright
With the faces of the children
And the families hurrying to their homes
As the sky darkens and freezes
Will be gathering around their hearths and tables
Giving thanks for God’s graces
And the birth of the rebel Jesus

They call him by the “Prince Of Peace”
And they call him by “The Saviour”
And they pray to him upon the sea
And in every bold endeavour
And they fill his churches with their pride and gold
As their faith in him increases
But they’ve turned the nature that I worship in
From a temple to a robber’s den
In the words of the rebel Jesus

We guard our world with locks and guns
And we guard our fine possessions
And once a year when Christmas comes
We give to our relations
And perhaps we give a little to the poor
If the generosity should seize us
But if anyone of us should interfere
In the business of why there are poor
They get the same as the rebel Jesus

But pardon me if I have seemed
To take the tone of judgement
For I’ve no wish to come between
This day and your enjoyment
In a life of hardship and of earthly toil
There’s a need for anything that frees us
So I bid you pleasure and I bid you cheer
From a heathen and a pagan
On the side of the rebel Jesus

Curious if the person of interest in the Nashville bombing is still alive. If it’s the same Anthony Quinn Warner, he owns an alarm and electrical company, and might even do an annual haunted house attraction as “Tony” Warner (animatronics?). Apparently, two tips were called in on the guy, but why he was linked wasn’t mentioned. The assumption was the RV, but there are a lot of older RVs around.

Donald followers are in full conspiracy mode. It was a CIA plot, it was actually done by a black man, it was Dominion, it was Antifa, this is all to make Trump followers look bad, etc.. Already shaping the truth in that alternate reality they live. I’d hate to see Parler right now.

Of course, if they go to Warner’s house and there’s still a bigass RV in his backyard and he’s 100% alive… probably bad information.

And because of persistent system glitches and unavailability of staff due to COVID, some people are owed many thousands in back benefits and are suffering beyond measure. This is a disgusting clusterfuck, a huge failure on the part of the government and its management, and now that cocksucker Trump just doubled down on the mess while his fat ass is off golfing.

Meanwhile, his cronies and politicians have made millions on illegal trading, bullshit fundraising and back alley deals, and the worst will be pardoned.

It’s utterly unconscionable. It’s a Dickens Christmas, in the worst way imaginable.

Hello Lizards! Doing the deep work these past days keeping the emotional rudders in the water for my wife and I, and following along here has been a solace. Thanks y’all!
This is our first Christmas without any kids, all in their 20s now and the youngest just out of the nest and on his own in Oklahoma City. We’ve been settling in the past couple of months back in our beloved western Washington.
Of course the Donald had to insert himself into our lives one last time, as we’re in the batch of a few million folks depending on pandemic relief funds that expire today. So, no more rent money for us. My freelance editing work has been too irregular to get us by, and my wife made the tough call to walk away from public high school teaching because teaching on-site isn’t worth it when you’re in a high risk COVID category.
So, it’s back to the job application grind for me this weekend. At least a lot of employers in the greater Seattle area hiring for my skillset are having people work at least partly remote for the time being, which is a hell of lot better than it was in Oklahoma. “Attitude of gratitude” and all that — I’m in a lot better position than many.
So, happy Yule, Festivus, Christmas and Kwanzaa to you and yours!

re: #223 A Mom Anon

Since there are a lot of doggo moms and dads here, I have a question.

Cleo has developed really dry, flaky skin, to the point that clumps of hair are coming out with big skin flakes attached along with serious dandruff. She’s on a food for sensitive skin and tummies and we’ve had her on apoquel for the itching but is causes awful diarrhea, so we switched to Benadryl for now. Do any of you have experience with adding something like salmon oil or other supplements to help with this? She’s shedding ridiculous amounts, but she’s a GSD and that’s expected. I’ve ordered some probiotics for her sensitive tummy, but need something that would help her skin too. Thoughts? Suggestions?

First, take her to a very VET to ensure she’s not sick. Very important.

Get fish oil gel caps (1000 mg) and vitamin E gel caps (100 iu). For her size, I’d say three of each at a minimum. If they have larger than the 1000/100 that’s cool. I think the fish oil is maxed at 1000 mg but the vitamin E comes in 200 iu, I think.) Both will promote skin (and heart) health. That’s what we gave our Caviler King Charles spaniel for her heart issues (1 each daily). She weighed 18 pounds.

If she won’t eat the pill, cut off the top and squish the gel into her food. (Mine would eat anything so pill form was fine.)

good luck!!

It could be something like doggie diabetes or cushings, so a trip to the vet would rule out a more serious problem.

Or squish it onto her patchy skin — I’ve seen recommendations by vets to apply vitamin e to dry skin.

OK, I really want to see images of the street surface where the Nashville RV detonated.
My thoughts are that maybe the target was below the street surface, and not the AT&T building itself.
The fiberoptic lines feeding the switching/data storage site would more likely be under the road surface, as the building’s footprint was likely already established long before fiber lines were retroactively installed. And, it’s easier to dig up/tunnel under streets than building foundations.
So, I’d like to see if there is a hole in the road surface more reminiscent of a shaped charge than your typical IED surface blast crater. Back in my Combat Engineer days we would use 40 lbs Comp B shaped charges to bore holes to emplace cratering charges. You can make shaped charges out of any explosive material. But, the lower the relative effectiveness rating (speed of burn/detonation/expansion) the larger a charge you’re going to need.

The window on the drivers side doesn’t have to match those on the passenger side.
As the window on the passenger side is in the entry door. RVs don’t have living area entry door on both sides.
And, is you look close at this image you can see the smaller windo on the drivers side.
