Trevor Noah Is Right: The CDC’s New Mask Guidelines Make No Sense

Politics • Views: 17,266

YouTube

Trevor Noah makes really good points here about the poor messaging from the CDC bureaucracy.

The CDC says that fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear masks outside unless they’re in a large group, but their new chart doesn’t make much sense. #DailyShow #TrevorNoah #Coronavirus

Let’s all play this fun game!

What are some of the OTHER things the poor FBI agents will find in Rudy’s apartments that they really, really wish they hadn’t had to touch.

Even with heavy gloves on.

Toensing’s home was tossed in a search warrant. LMAO.

Question though is whether anything belonging to Joe diGenova was removed as part of that search warrant?

The whole bunch of these treasonweasels are going to be brought down because their dumbassery and criminality is all pervasive and all encompassing.

What burned me up was the arrogance of DiGenova, Toensing, Rudy, Powell, Wood…. They all thought that Trump and the GOP have the god-given right to rule, so anything they did toward the end of getting Trump re-elected was fair game. That infected the MAGA crowd, too, leading to 1/6. I’ve been wanting justice on the heads of these crooks for a long, long time.

webmd.com

You finally managed to score an appointment to be vaccinated against the new coronavirus and you’re a little nervous about side effects, so taking a painkiller right before you get your shot seems like a smart idea.

Not so fast, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Instead, the agency is telling people not to take pain medications like Motrin, Advil or Tylenol before getting their COVID-19 vaccines.

Why?

It’s possible that taking a painkiller before getting a vaccine will result in a “decrease in antibody response,” explained Dr. Gregory Poland, director of the Vaccine Research Group at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Although the odds of a diminished immune response aren’t really known, Poland said it’s better to suffer the side effects than take the chance of making the vaccine less effective.

“After receiving the vaccine, if one develops symptoms that they feel they want to treat, it’s fine, but ideally not before,” he said. “Now, that’s a recommendation by CDC, out of an abundance of caution.”

Climate Change in Florida Is Forcing a Response From Republican Politicians
teenvogue.com

The policies they put in place are to protect business and tourism, not people and environments. Of course.

Ultimately, young climate activists have had to take a pragmatic look at the limitations of what can be accomplished through policy. Fernandez says it is not the “end-all, be-all.” “If you’re living in a conservative state like Florida, it can be really hard to get that stuff off the ground,” she says. “You’re not really going to get policy changes unless you have the people behind you, and the way to get people behind you is by educating them and connecting with them and tapping them into these issues.”

and you can bet your ass the National Guard wouldn’t have had to have been called multiple times… This was a coup attempt. They planned it, they had inside help, they hamstrung the Military, they even had sympathetic souls inside the Cap Police. We’re just fortunate that not all of the Cap Police were in on it and some did their jobs and then some, to protect the legislators within.

May take months to get to it all and in some cases, I wish there was capitol punishment for this because I have to admit there’s a very unpleasant part of me that would enjoy seeing certain members swing for their complicity.

meanwhile, it’s not that the WH has met with no republicans

“Top White House officials have quietly been meeting — on the Hill and over the phone — with Republican senators who drafted a counterproposal to President Biden’s infrastructure plan,” Axios reports.

“The GOP senators say they’re optimistic the Biden administration is open to concessions and can reach a compromise. They’ve been heartened by their talks with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, counselor to the president Steve Ricchetti and legislative affairs director Louisa Terrell.”

But they also might get sick and die. Schools should have gone remote as soon as the new variants hit, but we suck at adapting to a crisis. Can’t wait to see us just murder each other when climate damage really starts to hurt us, rather than try to solve the problem.

It’s pretty clear that most people completely avoid doing any kind of rational risk assessments.

If, god forbid, we ever get airborne Ebola, it seems plausible that it would actually end up killing fewer people than covid because people would actually take airborne ebola seriously.

We’ll get a surge, because people are pretending its over, and its not.

I had to take an Uber this morning after dropping my car at a shop to have a stolen catalytic converter replaced. I did not like having to be in a car with another person.

In the Chicago suburbs, anyone over 16 with transportation can get vaccinated within a few days. I have several options once I get my car back, and would have gone a couple of days ago had my catalytic converter still been present. At least here, no one has an excuse to not be vaccinated.

Why do I have a bad feeling that too many people are starting to go overboard and act like the pandemic is already over? It’s not. If we end up with another surge in cases I think I might resign from the human race.

time to trot out my periodic PSA:

the virus will continue to spread for a long time
it is not stopped nor controlled.
not worldwide, not even in the US, or any individual state.

People are going to continue to die from this
People are going to continue to needlessly die from this

Don’t be one of them.
Do not personally sacrifice to this carnage.
Do not accept or promote this carnage as some kind of perverse new normal.

Let the idiots do what they want.
Your number one objective is to keep you and your people alive.

Jobs and schools are not more important than life itself: reasoning ‘what about jobs (or schools)’ while ignoring the science of pandemics and warnings by professionals reveals that someone believes a life’s worth is its economic output. They just revealed their lack of humanity.

If you are not vaccinated, nothing’s changed. The virus is totally unpredictable:

Anyone can get it
Anyone can have it and not know it
Anyone who has it (knowing or not) can pass it on
Anyone can survive it
Anyone can die from it
Anyone can experience nasty medical side effects that create a permanent pre-existing condition.
The virus does not fight fair
And it mutates.

doesn’t matter where you live, who your parents are, how much money you got, where you went or go to school, what your job is, your politics, gender, race, color, age, vegan or gluten status, how ‘in shape you are’, what your favorite tv show is, what the #1 movie was the year you turned 18…

If you are vaccinated you can still get it.
You can still pass it on.

Work outside your home if you have to
Do it smart, even if your boss / employer won’t.
And if you can’t, consider whether your job is worth your life (it isn’t).

Follow the safety measures you know work: vaccinate, wear a mask, wash your hands - sanitizer when you cant / until you can, avoid people, keep your distance when you can’t, limit interactions with the public, etc.

this is life or death.
not some asinine game or a goddamned political statement.

they want everyone else to ‘go back to’ how it used to be.

My understanding is that since most otc pain relievers are NSAIDs they also prevent an inflammation response, which is what you want to have to kick the vaccine into gear. That response runs from a little pain at the injection site to full blown feeling like shit for a day or two. I was told to wait until after dinner time the day I got vaccinated and then it was ok to take whatever I take for a headache or aches and pains.

Foster couldn’t keep London from reminding those on the plantation that they are, yes, on a plantation of the English and subject to London’s whims.

And Foster apparently isn’t anti-gay enough for her theocratic party members.

Won’t be much ash from Iceland. Iceland is the tip of a large igneous province that is built out basalt, which flows like a river.

What could happen is that this eruption goes on and on and on… for years. Even longer than some of the Hawaii eruptions.

I think WH spokespeople should be allowed to tilt their head to the side and smile every time they say this.

The obvious Republican response to this outrage is to try to get more GOP partisan hacks into the judiciary.

Tech companies can learn:

Apple plans to open a new campus in the Raleigh, NC, area, with 3,000 employees working on software engineering, machine learning, and other technologies. The company will spend more than $1 billion on the campus, adding to previous plans to open a $1 billion campus in Austin, TX, next year. The NC campus will be located in the Research Triangle area, referring to its proximity to North Carolina State University, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The move comes as other technology companies, like Oracle, Google, and Amazon, expand outside the San Francisco Bay area to tap a larger pool of talent in areas with lower costs of living. Meanwhile, Apple announced that it would add 20,000 jobs nationwide over the next five years in cities including San Diego, Culver City, Boulder, and Seattle.
