I actually understand why DF is what he is. Don’t agree or even try to talk to him anymore but I can understand how he got there.

Gus though, makes no fucking sense to me.

To quote a Dresden Files book, “Some men fall from grace,” he said slowly. “Some are pushed.” I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to decide which is which.

I’m in some pain at the moment. Last part of the last run I was skiing today, great powder, untracked. Then my left tip dug in and I fell. Nothing spectacular, but my hip happened to land on a rock. Will have an impressive bruise on my left side shortly.

I’ve had missteps that led to days of pain because of soft tissue damage. You may want to check it out with a doctor if it persists.

The list of things I’ve done to my body to slide down on a mountain with long slippery sticks attached to my feet is quite long, and today doesn’t even rank in the top 20. That said, If I’m still in a bunch of pain next week I will see a doctor (not likely).

Yikes. I remember how we had issues with the cleaning staff not emptying the trash cans in the command center, which at the time had people 24 x 7 and why yes, there was a lot of eating going on. I know on more than one occasion I went around and took out bags full of weekend garbage so we could start out the week with empty trash cans. (Where did I take the bags? I filled up the enormous gray trash cans in the two break rooms outside the locked command center. Those were getting emptied.) The workers left rolls of trashcan liners in the bottom of the cans so it was, get the smelly stuff out, put it in the break room can, put a new liner in, wash rinse repeat. Of course that was not my job and I did complain.

My most epic ski moment was when a bunch of us were jumping up over a boulder. We all crashed but I came up then landed my body flat and let out a big ‘whooh’ cuz it knocked the wind out of me. They all hit the ground laughing. I was on the ground, out of breath and near death, laughing with them. As best I could because I couldn’t breathe.

American Skier Suffers Spectacular ‘Tomahawk’ Wipe Out in New Zealand

This is a form of crashing called “tomahawking.” I know, not the greatest word to describe it. But this happens when your forward momentum is too great for you to stop so you “tomahawk” until you do.

This happened to me twice, not near as violent but I definitely went head over heels a couple of times. Both times at Crested Butte. Both times I skied away, seriously shaken but otherwise uninjured, just like dude in this video.

Back when I had a bird account, Gus and I would talk about music and venues. I think he either spent time around or in Patterson NJ. He knew some spots. He would read LGF because you could tell. He’d ask questions about some of you that would only make sense if you were following the jumpy conversations.
I spoke very little about Gus here, or troubles he brought on.
Got blocked.
And right before that time I was outside Boulder and was coming into Thornton. I asked him if I could by him a beer or a cocktail, drink.
I said if he choose not, I would not be hurt. I’m a stranger and you don’t know me and all. I wanted take him to either a bud store or craft beer or buffalo trace bourbon.
He said he appreciated it but he alluded to a disability.

, Gus and I would talk about all manner things. Not quite sure if he walked or was escorted out of here. Said some hurtville things towards the end. Spread it around a little. I semi defended him here and on the bird.

I have no answers, but I watched others go that route.
It is sad.

Tate apparently been arrested so many times that there’s at least three different (old) videos being circulated on Twitter as proof he’s been “released.”

At some level, I understand this. We should also toss out calling people dicks and assholes for the same reason.

But that’s the language of Tate and the people that follow him. And he knows her response hurt him - look at his feeble replies, including one that seems to have cost him - and look at the weak replies of those defending him. It doesn’t mean his actual dick length, it’s his standing among men. It’s the language of someone owning 33 cars that you need to brag burn lots of gas. It’s the language of someone who needs to own 200 guns or have your entire family pose with AR-15s.

And the men who aren’t trying to be men like Tate understand what it means.

Looking at the playoff picture right now in the NFC. Two things stand out if the rankings don’t change in the NFC:

1. Tampa will make the playoffs with probably a losing record since every division has to send one team.
2. Every NFC East team will make the playoffs. Every other division will only send their division leader.

Especially when we know that the only Epstein acquaintance they care about is named Bill. If you bring up the one named Donald, suddenly they want to change the subject.

Biden outpacing both Trump and Obama with number of judicial nominees

WASHINGTON — For the Biden White House, a quartet of four female judges in Colorado encapsulates its mission when it comes to the federal judiciary.

Charlotte Sweeney is the first openly LGBT woman to serve on the federal bench west of the Mississippi River and has a background in workers’ rights. Nina Wang, an immigrant from Taiwan, is the first magistrate judge in the state to be elevated to a federal district seat.

Regina Rodriguez, who is Latina and Asian American, served in a U.S. attorney’s office. Veronica Rossman, who came from the former Soviet Union with her family as refugees, is the first former federal public defender to be a judge on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Besides the obvious (NFTs are by nature a scam as is cryptocurrency), the image used for that profile of course is just stolen. So I went looking for the original, it was easy to find:

Twitter was always a tool for criminals (see: Tate) and Musk will do nothing about that but cheer it on.

I wonder if Tate heard whispers through the grapevine that GRETA (the EU org) was on to him, and he thought that meant that Greta Thunberg was gunning for him - so he randomly tweeted at her, got KO’d, then ragetweeted back at her, and thus revealed his location to the Romanian authorities.

Cool.

The best part of this is that apparently, the Romanian authorities had already been trying to get a judge to sign off on searching properties, but they lacked probable cause to show Tate was even still in the country. The pizza boxes in Tate’s posting were from a well-known Romanian chain and that was proof enough that he was in fact in Romania, so the judge gave them the go-ahead for the raid.

Tate doxxed himself, in a fit of pique against a 19-year old. LOL. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

This is a company circling the drain. This is the sort of vulture capitalism BS you see when the guys at the top are trying to do everything short of cracking the bones for the marrow.

Amateur hour. The takeover kings (private equity) largely moved away from hostile takeovers/vulture capitalism decades ago; they realized that working closely with management and actually fixing companies was more profitable. The Twitter fiasco is like someone treating Barbarians at the Gate (book about KKR’s takeover of RJR Nabisco) as a how to guide, not as a cautionary tale. The RJR takeover almost bankrupted KKR; it was the last hostile takeover they ever did.

“small dick energy” is not so much a reference to actual penis size as such, but rather to what psychology calls “compensational behavior”, it is more a dig at his arrogant, boastful style of communication.

Looks like Tate is in a good deal of trouble….

Speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said prosecutors had applied to hold the influencer at a “detention centre” for an additional 30 days. A judge will rule on the application on Friday afternoon, they added.

“The four suspects… appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost,” DIICOT said in a statement.

The brothers have been under investigation since April alongside two Romanian nationals.

Yoinks. Andrew Tate has been arrested on child trafikking charges in Romania because Greta Thunberg owned his ass on tweeter. The one good thing that Mush (accidentally) did by letting assholes back.

I did not write this; a timeline:

for anyone who hasn’t been following this hillarious saga. the order of events goes like this.

-Tate decides to prove his alpha male status by trying to flex on a teenager.
-Teenager claps back and eviscerates his balls.
-Tate responds with a juvenile ‘I know you are but what am I’ type reply.
-Tate gets universally ridiculed and mocked for it.
-Tate continues to be a cool and rational alpha male by recording an unhinged rant video about how he refuses to recycle a pizza box in order to ‘own the libs’ or something.
-Authorities use pizza box from video to confirm his location and raid his estate, arresting him as part of an ongoing human trafficking investigation.

ETA: Late to the party.

Interesting. I just read a book called The Great Successor about Kim Jong Un. Not much mention about Putin, but Xi Jinping clearly views KJU as a PITA. Maybe weapons aid has not been forthcoming in any or sufficient quantities. Or maybe North Korea celebrates the lunar new year?

A Black family in Oregon says they feel targeted after one of their neighbors spray painted the N-word on her own house.

In an interview with local news station KPTV, Andre Channel of West Linn, Oregon explained that he and his family had long had difficulties with this particular neighbor, who over the years has allegedly exhibited a number of unhinged behaviors.

“We’ve been calling the police because of just escalating behavior,” Channel explained. “The screaming day in and day out, the breaking her own windows.”

Things escalated even further over the holidays, when he says another neighbor informed him of even more disturbing behavior.

“He was like hey, just want to let you know, your neighbor wrote the n-word all across their house,” Channel said. “This is the crossing the line for me, this is new.”

The family called local police, who painted over the racial slur the woman had scrawled across her house and who are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Liar-Elect George Santos Trashed His NYC Apartment, Landlord Says

Republican George Santos left his Queens apartment in complete disarray, his landlord has claimed. Santos, who was elected in November to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional district, lived in the apartment with his sister and moved out three months ago after allegedly ruining the spot. The landlord told the New York Post that the pair paid their rent on time, but left after their four dogs “did a lot of damage to the place.” Photos of the cramped apartment show a barely-accessible front door in the kitchen that is mostly blocked by a refrigerator, and a back porch cluttered with junk. While on the campaign trail, Santos boasted about living a posh lifestyle, but photos of his Queens apartment shows a more meager existence. The politician has also come under fire for a number of resume exaggerations, including work experience and education. “I am not a criminal,” Santos said during a separate interview with the Post, in which he apologized for “embellishing” his resume. He is also accused of creating a false family history with Jewish heritage—including the claim that his grandparents escaped Nazis to survive the Holocaust.

Far-Right Activist Ammon Bundy Threatens ‘Shotgun’ Standoff Over Hospital Lawsuit

Six years after his last armed standoff with law enforcement, far-right leader Ammon Bundy appears to be threatening another armed action—this time over a lawsuit from an Idaho hospital he’s accused of harassing.

“They’re suing me for defamation. They’re probably going to try to get judgments of over a million dollars and take everything they have from me,” Bundy told the conservative Idaho Dispatch in a livestream video this week. “And I’m not going to let that happen. I’m making moves to stop that from happening. And if I have to meet ‘em on the front door with my, you know, friends and a shotgun, I’ll do that. They’re not going to take my property.”

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students whose bodies were found in a rental home near campus last month, multiple law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said Friday.

It marks the first major break in a case that has both captivated and mystified the globe.

The sources said the man was apprehended in the Scranton area Friday morning. Authorities are expected to hold a news conference on the case later Friday.

Learned something new…
Pathological lying from healthline.com

Pathological lying, also known as mythomania and pseudologia fantastica, is the chronic behavior of compulsive or habitual lying.

Unlike telling the occasional white lie to avoid hurting someone’s feelings or getting in trouble, a pathological liar seems to lie for no apparent reason. This can make it frustrating or hard to know what to do if you believe you’ve met one.

Though pathological lying has been recognized for more than a century, there’s not yet a clear universal definition of the condition.

Some pathological lying may result from a mental condition, such as antisocial personality disorder (sometimes called sociopathy), while others appear to have no medical reason for the behavior.

Joshua remembers one nurse telling her: “‘It appears that you could be having one. But we don’t want to say that’s what it is. So let’s just keep watching it. You can continue to come back. Of course, we’re praying for you.’”

Joshua is Christian. She spends Sunday mornings at church. But she says the comment felt like an insult.

“Folks need answers, not prayers. And that’s exactly what I was looking for in that moment,” she says.

The next day, her bleeding and pain were worse. Landon, her husband, was afraid for her life.

By the evening, Joshua was pacing her bathroom floor, bleeding and cramping, when she felt more blood and tissue come out of her body.

“It literally felt like I had almost birthed a child,” she says. “And so I was like, ‘No, I have to go somewhere, like now.’ “

She didn’t want to return to the first ER, so she called her mother and husband and told them to meet her at Baton Rouge General in nearby Prairieville. There, a security guard put her in a wheelchair. Her jeans were soaked through with blood. Staff gave her another ultrasound, and the technician told her she’d lost a lot of blood.

A doctor came in to talk about the ultrasound results. She told Joshua it looked like a cyst, not a pregnancy, and asked if she was positive she’d been pregnant — a question that made Joshua angry.

Joshua remembers the doctor then said that if she was indeed miscarrying, she should go back home and wait, then follow up with her OB-GYN in two to three days.

Joshua asked the doctor for treatment to alleviate her pain and speed up the process. There are two standard options for managing a confirmed miscarriage, other than letting it pass on its own: a procedure called dilation and curettage, to remove pregnancy tissue; or medication, which can help clear the uterus more quickly. Both of the latter treatments are also used for abortions.

The doctor told her, “‘we’re not going to do that,’” Joshua recalls. “I just remember her saying, ‘We’re not doing that now.’”

There is currently a policy discussion happening on how to boost Ukraine’s offensive capabilities. One option being discussed is providing the Ukrainians with Bradley fighting vehicles rather than US tanks.

Supplying US M1 tanks had been discussed. It has apparently been put on the backburner for the moment. Perhaps because the Ukrainians are finding the T-64/T-72 series former Soviet tanks adequate. Or perhaps because there discussions in several European countries to provide their tanks to Ukraine and the US wants to encourage all European support that they can.

There are reportedly about 2000 Bradleys sitting unused in depots right now. They would have to be repaired, refurbished and upgraded before being sent to the Ukrainians, though.

Additionally, on the plus side for the US industry, it would move nearer the time-frame when a multi-billion dollar contract for replacement for the Bradley would be required.

Apparently, for certain groups of people, residency in certain states is a life threatening condition. The only immediate treatment and cure for that condition, that I can think of, is to move.

The company has skipped payments to KPMG, an accounting and consulting firm that had been working on matters related to compliance with the Federal Trade Commission, they said.

This seems like a very bad idea.

Agree, they also have a much easier to deal with log and maint chain to deal with than tanks do and require much less vehicle specific training.

An increasing number of House Republicans are vowing they’ll only vote for Kevin McCarthy for speaker, and that they’ll keep doing so “as long as it takes,” Politico reports.
