Britain has been suffering from a “missing blonde woman”, Nicola Bulley, for more than three weeks now. She went missing on a riverbank leaving her dog and phone behind, very mysterious and horribly fascinating to a certain segment of the ghoulish population. Police, scuba divers, fevered speculation, endless headlines in the yellow press, TikTok stars turning up in the area doorstepping people and trampling the scene of her disappearance, amateur sleuths intent on discovering foul play and/or alien abduction and now the regular press are following up on the TikTokers and other social media vampires as news stories in themselves.
The circus is now over, at least the first act, as a body was finally found downriver which has now been confirmed as the missing woman. I don’t hold out much hope that the family will get privacy to mourn and come to terms with the knowledge of her death. There will be another circus along soon though, I expect.

If you want to dig into what happened, Courtney Milan’s account on Twitter has the details. Milan (real name Heidi Bond) served as a 9th Circuit Court clerk and a Supreme Court clerk. She is one of the women who reported Alex Kozinski for his harassing behavior towards her and other women clerks. (Basically showing them pr0n.) So she has a history and Bouzy thinks this history makes her unreliable.
I’m going to be really clear here, though: Courtney Milan could have fucked all the way up, and Bouzy still wouldn’t be justified in using his platform as head of Spoutible to suggest that a victim of sexual harassment is acting out *because* she’s a victim of sexual harassment.

This is so very true, so many ex-lawyers have taken up romance writing, they’re very good at it, and they’re going to give this Spoutible guy a bad time. I’m here for it.
The Romance Writers of America (RWA) is a hard-assed organisation that makes publishers tremble in their shoes when they engage in negotiations. Only thing scarier IMO are the Girl Scouts when they acquire a nuclear first-strike capability.

August, 1975, The story behind the Polk County, GA, DC-4 Pot plane.
Hmm…
Doubled back to check the LGF link and found it to be paywalled.
Wasn’t originally.
Info from another link with interesting comments.
Polk County Pot Plane. August 1975. Drug smugglers flying a Douglas DC-4 (N67038) landed at a 1000 foot airstrip which had been bulldozed out of the forest only hours beforehand. The DC-4, designed for runways of 3000 feet or longer, managed to stop in less than 500. Numerous bales of marijuana were unloaded from the aircraft, which was then abandoned. As one might expect, a large four engine piston aircraft roaring about the countryside at low level in the dead of night attracted considerable attention from the locals, and law enforcement in particular. Numerous suspects were quickly apprehended in the following days. Charges were dropped against many, including the owner of the DC-4, as it could not be conclusively proven that he was the pilot at the time it landed in Polk County.
The DC-4 had been seized by authorities as evidence. Various schemes for disposing of the aircraft were proposed. One involved using helicopters to airlift the ship out of the woods to the nearest proper airport. Another was to turn the site into a local tourist attraction. At length though, the aircraft was auctioned off to the highest bidder on the courthouse steps. The new owner lengthened the airstrip out to roughly 3500 feet and flew the aircraft out shortly thereafter.
A semi-documentary, semi-drama of the whole affair titled “Polk County Pot Plane” was filmed and released in 1977. (imdb.com)
The site of the airstrip is overgrown now. It is described as being just west of Ga. Highway 100 on Treat Mountain, southwest of Fullwood Springs, GA.
Oh it’s FloriDUMB again the state where Il Duce wants everyone to have a gun to conceal carry!
Florida woman waved loaded gun at McDonald’s drive-thru over free cookie
A Florida woman brandished a loaded handgun at a McDonald’s drive-thru window because she didn’t get a free cookie, said Fox News over the weekend.
“Amari Bente Hendricks, 24, of Altamonte Springs near Orlando, was booked into the Seminole County Jail on Feb. 16, according to FOX 35. She faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, improper exhibit of a firearm, battery causing bodily harm and resisting an officer,” reported Pilar Arias. “A McDonald’s employee told police Hendricks was mad that no one asked if she was using the fast-food restaurant’s rewards program, and thought she was entitled to a free cookie.”
According to the report, employees actually did give her the free cookie, but she was still agitated and continued yelling.
“The worker told officers Hendricks then grabbed a black handgun, inserted a magazine and proceeded to rack the slide. The employee said she heard two click sounds ‘associated with someone chambering a round,’” said the report. Hendricks then allegedly forced herself inside the restaurant after employees locked down, at which point she repeatedly struck one employee and “forc[ed] him out of the building.”

Apparently the cops were watching for moonshiners. And when they found and seized the weed, they didn’t handle the process legally enough for a court case against good attorneys rather than just some backwoods moonshiners. The feds dropped out and the state prosecutor’s office was too under resourced to handle the defense attorneys. So the state dropped significant parts of the case as well.
Sounds like everybody made it through far better than the cocaine bear one.
The DeSantis/Trump war is getting ugly. This morning, DeSantis held a book tour stop, which Trumpworld quickly attacked. “His Twitter bots can’t show up to events?” one Trumpworld consultant said, mocking the crowd size. A Bannon-ally bashed the event over being a “sausage fest.”

In either case, it means that the Russians need to start moving their logistics hubs back another 40 or more kilometers. Which means that they need to figure out how to haul stuff even further to get it to the front lines.
And certain major transportation lines that are currently being used are now under threat of being blown up.
They will need to repair rail and bridge intersections. Things are going to get a lot more expensive for Poutine, which is money he simply doesn’t have.

Now, he could end up being the GOP nominee, but it will take the secret deep-pockets behind the GOP to manipulate the process.
Which they could do.

Would probably need to look over their whole contribution campaigns. I suspect they give cash to both parties and probably every governor in any state they have a lot of track in. Since governors control a lot of administrative organizations in states I am pretty sure any governor can probably make one of the railroads miserable if they wanted to. Simply with a memo to an underling about making sure all the mandated infrastructure inspections are carried out.

The point isn’t actually to pass the law. Conservatives can only rule, not govern.
The point is performative nonsense to the propagandised base of the Republican Party, and use the bill to fundraise for the party or her campaign.
Once the goal of the bill is achieved (some amount of money raised), it will be quietly withdrawn from consideration.
Meanwhile five more bills designed to raise money are being drafted as we speak.
