Propaganda works. Lots of people have been mislead into thinking private schools are somehow better than public schools (when public schools are funded properly).

Decided to look at my home state. Only one private school student (from Shanley in Fargo) and one home school student out of the 31 semifinalists in ND for the scholarship. Stating that private schools offer better education than public schools is false by this metric.

I used to think that they’re better at discipline and indoctrination but, judging from the life histories of my private school classmates, I highly doubt that is true either.

Well there was one person in my high school class who was notified that they received a National Merit Scholarship…and it was rescinded because a certain asshole alleged that I cheated on the SAT and Achievement tests.

That was me and after that allegation and being ordered to retake the tests in front of the accuser and 2 other teachers the score came out higher than before. Didn’t stop that asshole from repeating his lies.

But whether or not he’s antisemitic himself, he is definitely exploiting antisemitism to attack his enemies.

LGBTQ Nation, yesterday

Jack Hibbs — an anti-LGBTQ+ pastor who preaches at the Calvary Chapel megachurch in Chino Hills, California — said that “Satan himself” planned the “transgender agenda.” Hibbs then demonstrated that he doesn’t understand the Bible or science very well.

Hibbs, who thinks legalized same-sex marriage “crucified God’s word,” has recently announced his nationwide campaign to require educators to out LGBTQ+ students to their parents. He said doing so is needed to fight the “demonic and dark satanic powers” in public schools that are “sexualizing” and “mentally abusing” children.

Catching the spammers should not be that difficult if they can review the contents of email, but if their TOS says they don’t do that, I don’t know how to sort spammers from legitimate mass-mailers.

“I admitted I’m powerless over Alcohol and that my life has become unmanageable”.

54
lawhawk  May 16, 2023 • 12:25:38pm

While House Democrats are looking at expelling conman and criminal under indictment George Santos, GOPers are agitating to impeach DHS Secretary Mayorkas.

Why?

Policy difference. That’s not impeachable as a high crime or misdemeanor, and the GOP knows it. But it’s necessary because the extremists need to show to media that they’re both siding everything and getting media coverage to act as though both sides do stuff is essential to GOP doing even more crimes.

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has long called to remove Mayorkas from office over problems at the southern border, met with McCarthy on Monday to make her case for why the House GOP should pursue impeachment now that Title 42 has lifted, even though the expiration of the pandemic public health emergency policy - which allowed migrants to be turned away at the border - did not produce the surge that officials had expected.

“There’s a lot of renewed interest,” Greene, an influential McCarthy ally, told CNN.

Title 42 is the Public Health Law of the US Code that includes a specific limitation that allowed the US to keep folks from entering under the existence of a public health emergency. End the public health emergency, and there’d be a possible uptick in people who might want to come to the US.

GOP hates that. They hate the notion that someone might want to come to the US for a better life, especially if they’re not white and/or not Christian. This is straight up white nationalist/supremacist policies.

They can’t even identify why Mayorkas should be impeached - only that they want to do so.

Meanwhile, you’ve got Trump claiming he built the entire wall (he didn’t, and if that’s the case, it was done so poorly that you’re still getting people entering). That and the fact that about 40% of those here illegally are because of visa overstays after entering the US via plane (something the wall will never stop).

David Roth at Defector on blue checks, summed up perfectly in the last eleven words. The whole piece is a terrific read:

“Where Musk has struggled to keep that constituency happy, it reflects less on his seemingly sincere receptiveness to their hair-trigger credulity, bigotry, and vengefulness and more on the fact that these people are fundamentally unappeasable, and fundamentally opposed to being appeased. “

Trump appointee forced to pay back U.S. Treasury for misuse of funds

rawstory.com

Former Architect of the Capitol Brett Blanton saw money withheld from his final paycheck in order to pay back the federal government for U.S. taxpayer money that was “misused,” according to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

Grassley shared a letter from Acting Architect of the Capitol Chere Rexroat that said about $12,500 was withheld from Blanton’s final paycheck because he refused to repay the money himself. The remaining amount, about $1,400, was repaid through insurance, NBC News reported.

“When dealing with trillions of dollars in government spending, a dozen-or-so thousand can seem like an insignificant amount. However, this amount would be important to a family struggling to make ends meet in a time of record inflation and price hikes,” Grassley said in remarks on the Senate floor.

A report from the inspector general found that Blanton engaged in “unauthorized vehicle use, misrepresentation as a law enforcement officer, ethics violations, and lastly appropriations violations.”

Note how THE GRASSHOLE defends this crook.

But whether or not he’s antisemitic himself, he is definitely exploiting antisemitism to attack his enemies.

SALEM, Ore. — Two Republicans and an independent taking part in a boycott that has stalled hundreds of bills in the Oregon Senate, including measures on abortion and gender-affirming care, were disqualified Monday from re-election under a new constitutional amendment aimed at stopping such walkouts.

The GOP-led walkout of the Democrat-dominated Senate has stretched to 10 days, though some participating lawmakers have rotated in and out since the boycott began May 3. Each of the three affected senators accumulated 10 unexcused absences, making them ineligible to serve in the Legislature for the period after their terms expire under a ballot measure voters passed overwhelmingly last year.

Extended boycott disqualifies 2 GOP senators, 1 independent in Oregon Senate from being re-elected (NBC)

I find it hard to believe “a family struggling to make ends meet” would ever be in a position to have TWELVE GRAND withheld from a paycheck.

John Bolton noted that Donald Trump has long touted what he says are strong relationships with high profile leaders on the world stage, but they actually think he’s a “laughing fool,” Politico reports.

Said Bolton: “I have been in those rooms with him when he met with those leaders, I believe they think he’s a laughing fool. And the idea that somehow his presence in office would have deterred Putin is flatly wrong.”

(i didnt go looking. it popped up on google news, honest)

America’s men are in crisis and it’s rooted in one big lie

he relies heavily on the phrase “the left”, as if it’s an actual thing

and that’s besides whether his argument (that the left thinks this) is an actual thing (it’s not):

At bottom, this critique of men is rooted in a lie: that men shouldn’t be leaders, creators, and heroes, but just consumers looking out for themselves.

The April 25 filing seeks to dissolve her marriage to Jayson Boebert, with whom she shares four sons. An affidavit of service, also obtained by The Daily Beast, indicated that Jayson Boebert appeared to be caught off guard by the court proceedings. He chased away a process server with an expletive-laden tirade and let his dogs loose when he was served with the divorce papers, the affidavit said.

“Once he learned that he was being served with Dissolution of Marriage papers he was extremely angry,” the process server wrote. “I tried to hand him the documents but did not take them. He started yelling and using profanities, and told me that I was trespassing, and that he was calling the Sheriff’s Office. I told him I was leaving the documents on the chair outside of the door, he closed the door then let the dogs out.”

The document noted that Jayson was cleaning a gun and drinking a “tall glass of beer” when he was served.

James Comer should be investigated for ‘Santos-esque’ tales of missing whistleblowers: bipartisan group

U.S. Rep. James Comer Jr. (R) must be investigated by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia for his “Santos-esque explanations of alleged whistleblowers disappearing,” a bipartisan group says.

Facts First, which advocates for the national discourse to be “grounded in facts and honest debate,” sent a letter on Monday to U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves saying a probe into the matter is necessary to determine if the alleged whistleblower - or Comer himself - committed a crime. Facts First publicly announced the letter Tuesday.

“The House Republican Conference is on notice that a key member of their slim majority has likely engaged in criminal activity and may well soon be a convicted felon. Not only has the Republican leadership failed to oust known fabulist George Santos, it appears that they are now mimicking his behavior. We write to you regarding that conduct,” the letter says.

The group raises the possibility that the whistleblower never existed in the first place.
