Lyrics:
We gave ourselves into the night,
And we counted time a painted illusion,
And my heart was an empty box
The tide beat against

For a silver saucer,
For a silver saucer,
For a silver saucer,
For a silver saucer,
For a golden penny my heart was betrayed
Now in this steel trap place I’ve made,
I escape

Peach velvet sky
I can see a
Peach velvet sky
Crimson violet night
I can see a
Peach velvet sky

I stitched myself into your heart,
I thread my needle by sister North Star
And I missed your quiet hands,
Their tiny weight

For the anniverse days,
For the birthdays,
For the High and Holy days,
The lonely days,
The cold that rolled and rolled me in the dark
The silent night when I embarked,
I escaped

Peach velvet sky
I can see a
Peach velvet sky
Crimson violet night
I can see a
Peach velvet sky

Peach velvet sky
I can see a
Peach velvet sky
Crimson, violent night
I can see a
Peach velvet sky

From the last thread:

re: #7 Backwoods Sleuth

When my wife was first prescribed a C-PAP machine by a physician in Oklahoma, he sent the prescription to a medical supplier in our town. That supplier wouldn’t fill it unless the insurance company pre-authorised it, and TRICARE doesn’t do pre-authorisations.

After fiddle-farting around with that guy for the better part of a month, she went with a supplier on the Internet, who sold her a new, but four-year old, C-PAP from a different company. She had considered the Phillips model but went with the four year-old one instead (in hindsight, a good decision).

Here’s a question for the stupidest of the Trump spawn — if the Florida pesthole is worth well more than $1 billion, why isn’t it being taxed with that value?

Someone within the Trump organization is telling spawn to STFU about publicly bragging what the Palm Beach property is worth.

Palm Beach County’s tax assessor would love an excuse to increase the property tax on that 14 acres between Lake Worth and the Atlantic Ocean.

And there are plenty of old money residents who would like nothing better than to see the Trumps forced to leave Palm Beach. I suspect the Trump family is PNG at the Everglades Club.

The remains of missing mother Suzanne Morphew have been found - three and a half years after she vanished, after going on a bike ride on Mother’s Day.

Colorado mother-of-two Morphew, 49, was reported missing from her home in Chaffee County on May 10, 2020. Her bike was found the day she went missing, discarded in a ravine.

Investigators have revealed they found her body 50 miles from her bike, in Moffat, Saguache County, while they were probing a completely separate case.

No arrests have been made since the remains were located on September 22, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Wednesday. Her identity was confirmed on September 27.

In May 2021, a year after Suzanne disappeared, her husband Barry Morphew was arrested and charged with her murder - despite police not having found a body.

Last year, prosecutors dropped all charges against Morphew after a judge sanctioned the district attorney’s office for discovery violations.

The case was dismissed without prejudice, despite objections from the defense, which means it could still be re-filed should new evidence come to light.

“I have been faithful and loyal to the Constitution of the United States for 44 1/2 years,” said Milley. “And my family and I have sacrificed greatly for this country. And my mother and father before them. And, you know, as much as these comments are directed at me, it is also directed at the institution of the military. And there is 2.1 million of us in uniform. And the American people can take it to the bank that all of us, every single one of us, from private to general, are loyal to the Constitution and we will never turn our back on it, no matter what. No matter what the threats. No matter what the humiliation. No matter what. If we are willing to die for that document, if we are willing to deploy to combat, and if we are willing to lose an arm, a leg, and eye, to protect and support and defend that document and protect the American people, then we are willing to live for it, too. I’m not going to comment directly on those things, but I can tell you that this military, this soldier, me, will never turn my back on the Constitution.”

Of the four previous impeachments, none were of a president’s actions when he wasn’t even president. Every other impeachment was for things they did while in office that were viewed as criminal.

Here, they’re so desperate to impeach Biden simply to have a campaign issue to run on that they’re not only going after him for things done when he wasn’t even president, but they’re going after him for things that happened when he wasn’t even in an elected office.

Schrader has been kind of clingy, since he no longer has a Presta to hang with all day.

Schrader has a new trick. He often shares a chair, by sitting behind me. Now, he’ll stand up, sometimes without me noticing, and leap up onto my shoulders. So I started putting him on the chair next to me, where he stays for a bit, then leaps onto my shoulders without warning. I moved the chair farther away, he keeps doing it. He doesn’t get to spend any time up there, I make him get down right away (I lean to the side so he can jump to the other chair. I can’t grab him, except by a handful of furry skin, then his neatly trimmed claws get me.)

I think he’s starting to realize it’s not good.

It does not matter to the Radical Republicans. If they had their way they would not only impeach Joe. They would also impeach Jill, Hunter and even Joe’s dog. Their addiction to power knows no bounds.

The Supreme Court is hearing a case next week which if they decide the wrong way, will make the Americans with Disabilities Act unenforceable.

It could also have a knock-on effect making most civil rights laws unenforceable.

Rights Without Remedies Might As Well Not Exist (Balls and Strikes, September 27, 2023)

For decades, the government has relied on ordinary people to enforce federal civil rights laws. In Acheson Hotels v. Laufer, the Supreme Court could end the practice—and leave no one else to do the work.”

When Deborah Laufer was 39, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. At the time, she worked in private security, but her illness ended her career prematurely. Today, she’s visually impaired and has limited use of her hands, and uses a wheelchair.

As a newly disabled person, her ability to travel changed suddenly and dramatically. She found that hotels usually didn’t provide accessibility information on their websites, and even if they did, the information was often inaccurate. Sometimes, Deborah recalled in briefs and sworn statements, she would arrive at a hotel only to end up sleeping in her car after she discovered the hotel couldn’t accommodate her.

The federal Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), which Congress passed in 1990, requires hotels to make “reasonable modifications” so that disabled people have an equal opportunity to enjoy their services. A Justice Department regulation known as the “Reservation Rule” says that a hotel’s reservation service must “identify and describe accessible features” so disabled people can assess if the hotel meets their needs. Under the ADA, disabled people can sue if they experience illegal discrimination.

Stephen Miller Has A Bad Hair Day

Ace Rothstein  Sep 27, 2023 • 5:33:17pm

In a text thread with several friends yesterday, one of my friends (who has become increasingly insufferable the last few years) posted a Fox News tweet about Taylor Swift’s Swifties “pleading” with her to get Kansas City Chiefs tight end and current beau Travis Kelce to get the tomahawk cop stopped. First, Fox News has a geriatric demographic that is constantly sold fear and resentment of anything not old, white and Christian, so I doubt the story was even true. I HATE the tomahawk chop used at various stadiums (Atlanta Braves, Florida State, etc) and said so; I believe that it not compatible with the 21st century. I mentioned how I have a very good friend who is half native American, and how he views it. I also said that the chop has a deeper meaning than just something to do at a game. That it is a cultural thing. When a certain segment of the population (MAGAts) gets called out on their offensive and obnoxious behavior, that their response is to be even more offensive and obnoxious with their behavior; that it’s a middle finger to the libs. I got the usual bullshit reply, and just blocked him. I can’t deal with that shit. If you’re going to try and argue with me about a tomahawk chop being proper at a game in 2023, take it to fucking Facebook. You’ll get a more receptive audience over there.
