Expelled congressman George Santos asked his fans and followers if he should leave the Republican party, and most of them said yes.
Santos, who is also facing criminal charges from the DOJ, posted a poll on social media on Friday, simply asking, “Should I leave the Republican Party?” At the time of writing, the poll has four hours remaining and it stands with 67.6% people voting for his departure from the party. The poll shows 32.4% saying he should stay.
The comments are a mixed bag, with some begging Santos to stay to fix a broken party and others condemning Santos as an alleged criminal.

‘A tour de force’: Experts reveal Jack Smith’s ‘sly’ additions to new Trump filing
Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team didn’t pull any punches in its new filing contesting Donald Trump’s claims of absolute presidential immunity in the former president’s D.C. election subversion case, numerous legal experts said on Saturday.
Smith’s motion, which former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance said could force Trump to move more quickly when it comes to his Supreme Court immunity appeal, argued that the ex-president was “wrong” to say his acts were within the parameters of his presidential duties.
But legal professionals online noticed some easter eggs, and flagged some other key points buried deep within the more than 80-page filing.
Several onlookers noticed, for instance, that the filing was targeted for Supreme Court review. Specifically, according to those who read the motion, it was meant to be read by the conservative justices on the bench.
Legal expert and former Justice Department prosecutor Andrew Weissmann commented on a post by a fellow legal analyst, pointing out that the filing was “classic Dreeben,” referencing former Deputy Solicitor General Michael Dreeben, a heavy hitter Smith brought on board to press the top court.
By calling the filing “classic Dreeben,” Weissmann says he means it is “a tour de force,” and that it’s “VERY geared to [Supreme Court] review.”
In a second post, Weissmann says Smith “slyly notes that Trump himself previously told the [Supreme Court] in a case where he sought (unsuccessfully) immunity from a state grand jury subpoena that he [would] NOT be immune post-Presidency and [would] not be thereafter ‘above the law.”
Legal analyst Allison Gill also chimed in on the high court aims for the filing, noting that the “shout outs to Alito and Kavanaugh were a nice touch.”
Christian Vanderbrouk, a conservative commentator who previously worked in the George W. Bush White House, also noticed the prosecutors focused on quotes from the conservative justices from the right-leaning Supreme Court.
“Jack Smith’s citations of Justices Alito, Kavanaugh and Thomas are particularly on point in this filing,” he wrote on Saturday.
Conservative attorney George Conway also noticed something.
“Also: ‘a president who sells nuclear secrets to a foreign adversary,’” Conway said, quoting the filing. “Interesting choice of hypotheticals.” He then added, “It took quite an imagination.”

That makes sense, when you think about it. Everybody - both us laypeople and all the people in the room where it’s happening - knows that this is going to be reviewed by SCOTUS sooner or later. By laying the groundwork for that inevitable appeal now, it makes the work easier later - in addition to making it more difficult for the opposition to make their case, when you can clearly state that your side has been arguing in accordance with Supreme Court precedent the whole time. (Not that precedent matters to the Calvinball Court, but it gives them a nice fig leaf when they have to do something unpleasant, like shutting down Trump.)

Yeah, watching shows like Fantom Works and Wheeler Dealers has clued me into the cost of even basic restorations and it is not a pretty sight. The former in particular is always amazing when they bring the customer in for an estimation of all the work they want and many go “Yeah, I can’t afford all that.”

One of the unspoken “dangers” of working the overnight shift at a hotel is any guests who become “bored” or “restless” have a greater-than-zero chance of deciding that you are “lonely” at the front desk and need a friend to talk to. So you’ll find yourself in the middle of a shift suddenly stuck with a chatterbox who wants somebody to listen to them for the night. I put it as “danger” because if you really are feeling lonely or the extrovert at the desk wants to talk about topics that you’re interested in, then you might find yourself with a new friend who can help the night go by. But there’s an equal chance that you’re going to end up spending time you’d rather use to watch YT or playing games listening to somebody you don’t know tell you their life’s story or try to convince you that the Illuminati have it out for them.

That puts major developers’ full-year sales 16.5% lower than 2022, worse than the institution’s earlier estimate of a 15% drop. December’s sales were up 15.7% compared with the previous month.

The Southern Baptist Convention and others have reached a confidential settlement in a high-profile lawsuit that accused a former leader of sexual assault, ending a six-year legal drama that helped prompt a broader reckoning over child sexual abuse in evangelical churches, expanded victims’ rights in Texas and showed that a prominent conservative activist and Texas House candidate repeatedly downplayed abuse allegations.
Pressler, 93, is one of the most influential evangelical figures of the last half-century, and is considered the co-architect of the SBC’s “conservative resurgence” that began in the late 1970s and prompted the faith group to adopt literal interpretations of the Bible, align more closely with the Republican Party, ban women from preaching and strongly condemn homosexuality.
Pressler — who formerly represented Houston in the Texas House and served for 14 years as a state appeals court judge — is also an influential figure in GOP politics. His endorsement has for years been sought by conservative evangelical politicians, including U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. In 1989, Pressler was nominated to lead the Office of Government Ethics under President George H.W. (It and I are in SoCal) It had been sitting in a garage unmoving for thirty-three years on four flats, frozen drum brakes, and with possums denning in a debris filled engine compartment. Just before Christmas, he texted to say he’d backed it off the trailer and driven it a bit under it’s own power. I guess he’s good at this. (He has restored several 50s vintage cars already)

My nephew started at Costco in the Seattle area and worked for them for several years, getting more and more responsibility. He then moved to Las Vegas and worked for Costco there as head of their warehouse. He moved back to the PNW to work for Costco for several more years before moving on to other things. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) used a Fox News appearance to smear her former fiancé for alleged infidelity.
Fox News host Howard Kurtz broached the subject of Mace’s recent break-up in an interview that aired on Sunday.
“You’ve recently been asked about breaking up with your fiancé,” Kurtz noted. “What happened?”
“Well, a bunch of media wrote about it, but, you know, infidelity can be a very painful thing,” Mace revealed. “I caught him being unfaithful. He was on a dating app, and so I dumped him.”
Anything to score political points with the Fascist GOP base…
