This is why I bristle at the idea that I can make common cause with Trumpers. When they say that Trump “just says what we’ve all been thinking,” they are telling me that they have held hateful views all this time but were just scared to say so out loud. So when I see with my own eyes that people are so intensely drawn to this kind of bigotry that they won’t even Google something before screaming at teachers, I know there is nothing I can say to them to bridge that divide.

Thanks for this. This is where I’ve been at for a while. I’ve been saying Trump essentially gave people the go-ahead to say all the shitty things they’ve been keeping to themselves; that somehow being an open bigot and moron is compatible with being a functional member of society.

That’s been compounded by the endless Cletus safaris the press has been publishing for what seems like 15 years, since the dawn of the Tea Party. Probably longer. It completely normalizes what had been up until 2015 unacceptable, abnormal behavior.

It’s why I got so irritated with the “Well, he’s not really talking about a literal bloodbath” idiocy from last week. Trump and and quite frankly, anyone who votes for him, do not deserve one fucking iota of the benefit of the doubt. They have been incredibly upfront about who they are and what they want.

And what they want is a dictatorship. Full stop. The Principle of Charity has its limits.

People are made of layers like an onion

You can go years before an event or circumstance peels back a layer you can’t contend with

People are also changing through time, mixing up those layers.

Some relationships are stronger than others. People willing to work through stuff, be vulnerable, etc. Some not.

Following up on what MM posted on a previous thread about Ruby Franke.

Now her husband is doing the Sgt Schutz “I KNOW NOTHING” thing when it comes to the abuse of his children.

Estranged Husband Tearfully Says He Had ‘No Idea’ of Ruby Franke’s Child Abuse

Kevin Franke had no contact with his children for a year and had no knowledge that his estranged wife Ruby Franke subjected them to torture, he told police in a recently released interview. During the interview, conducted on Aug. 30, 2023, Kevin Franke described how he put his trust in Ruby while he was dealing with “some of my own addictions I was working through and seeking help” for. He hadn’t seen his children since July 2022, when he moved out of their family home. He said his role was to provide for them financially, entrusting Ruby with their care. “I know nothing that’s going on in their lives,” he told officers. “She’s not telling me anything about the kids.” When officers revealed that his son had been found malnourished, duct-taped, and pleading for help, Franke was blindsided. He started to cry as officers detailed the abuses his children suffered at the hands of their mother. “This feels like getting run over by a steam truck, what you’re sharing with me today,” he said.

Borderline? If he comes up with the money, at this point, it will be illegal. His lawyers would not have represented to the Appellate Division that he is completely unable to come up with a bond if there was a path by which he could obtain the money legally.

When Dad was injured in 1954 he didn’t get Social Security disability benefits until the law was amended in 1956 and at that time there was no provision for spouse OR children to receive benefits from a bene receiving disability checks.

IMO, no. I do not feel there is a safely legal way he can liquidate his shares and turn them into enough money to pay the judgment. I could be proven wrong, of course, and I fully expect that I will.

All I know is that he’s got a lot of lawyers racking up billable hours this weekend as he looks for a way to delay the inevitable.

Has Trump ever testified under oath that he has this much money available or was it only when lying to the public that he asserted this claim?

Biden’s NLRB Brings Workers’ Rights Back From the Dead

Last Friday, the National Labor Relations Board released its most important ruling in many decades. In a party-line decision in Cemex Construction Materials Pacific, LLC, the Board ruled that when a majority of a company’s employees file union affiliation cards, the employer can either voluntarily recognize their union or, if not, ask the Board to run a union recognition election. If, in the run-up to or during that election, the employer commits an unfair labor practice, such as illegally firing pro-union workers (which has become routine in nearly every such election over the past 40 years, as the penalties have been negligible), the Board will order the employer to recognize the union and enter forthwith into bargaining.

He might be hoping the Truth Social money comes. And there might even be some way but not in the time he needs. One the stock is not even on a public market like NASDAQ yet. And there are several lawsuits against the merger from people whose stock was diluted that could slow things down.

ANd even if he wanted to sell that much stock, it would take more time to und=wind his position.

So I just do not see the timing working to get him the money thie next few days.

Maybe he’ll come up with a post-dated personal cheque just to start things off.
You know…get everyone laughing./

as i’ve been reading, and assuming his shares are covered by the charter’s lockup provisions (which how could they not be) then he cant sell, pledge, use as collateral, etc for 6 mos. no way no how.

unless they tried to amend the charter. that’s more than a hail mary.
it’s just ‘possible’. but good luck trying to do that without disclosing such plan ahead of time. there’s a reason for the lockup period. it protects the other potential buyers.

and if, if, if, if, if, all these wishes came true, then a bank would still have to agree to accept it as collateral. at what discount? certainly not the ‘market’. that would be insane. and as soon as the bank writes it down….., well that’s why it cant be used as collateral in the first place.

Nah. this wont help

Don Poorleone indeed.
