I wonder if any of the people who unquestioningly swallowed and regurgitated this shit will publicly reexamine their priors or take any personal responsibility for enabling a famine.

Israel has yet to provide supporting evidence of its claims that employees of the UN relief agency Unrwa are members of terrorist organisations, an independent review led by the former French foreign minister Catherine Colonna has said.

The Colonna report, which was commissioned by the UN in the wake of Israeli allegations, found that Unrwa had regularly supplied Israel with lists of its employees for vetting, and that “the Israeli government has not informed Unrwa of any concerns relating to any Unrwa staff based on these staff lists since 2011”.

Allegations of the involvement of Unrwa staff in the 7 October Hamas attack on Israel led major donors in January to cut their funding to the agency, the main channel of humanitarian support not only to Palestinians in Gaza but to Palestinian refugee communities across the region.

The funding was cut despite the dire needs of 2.3 million people in Gaza, most of whom have been forced from their homes by the Israeli offensive since 7 October and have been struggling to find water, food, shelter or medical care.

Most of the donor nations have resumed their funding in recent weeks. UK ministers had said they would wait for the Colonna report to make a decision on resuming funding. US financial support of Unrwa has been blocked by Congress for at least a year in the wake of the allegations.

Louis Charbonneau, the UN director at Human Rights Watch, said: “I don’t think the findings in the Colonna report are particularly surprising. Governments who haven’t should immediately resume full funding to Unrwa so it can deliver aid to desperate civilians. Many Palestinians are facing famine because of Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war.”

TikTok Star and ‘Club Rat’ Creator Eva Evans Dies at 29

TikTok star Eva Evans, who shared her fabulous life in New York City with hundreds of thousands of followers and created the Amazon series Club Rat, has died at the age of 29, her sister revealed on Instagram.

“please share this post so that it reaches everyone it needs to,” Lila said in the Sunday post. “yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died. after 24 hours, i still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so i know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.”

I’m thinking of it as a way to get through to a fascist if there’s any hope, making them choose between family and corruption, or to get rid of them. We’re pretty far down the timeline at this point, so long after the coup attempt, so there can be no excuse making for people who clearly reject our way of life. However, in many cases, it is just that you truly care for the family member and even though their politics are evil, they remain loving to their family. They’ve been brainwashed by lies that are repeated by RW platforms and even MSM, but that does not mean they cannot be kind and caring to their friends and family.

There are a number of people I really care about that I am confident are voting Trump. It infuriates me, but I don’t feel it right to sever my relationships with them, for a number of reasons.

There are times one must exclude people from one’s life. My experience may have given me poor judgement over what others do. My family is all politically reasonable. Personally, some of them have nutty ideas about how a person should behave, to the point of threats of exclusion if they don’t do it right.

I’ll never judge someone, either for cutting someone out of their life, or for not doing so when it seems like it would be healthier to do so. There are always extenuating factors, and the decision to cut a family member or close friend off completely is an extremely difficult one. I can mitigate issues with my family with distance; we only see them a few times a year, and my wife and I educate our kids so that they know not to bring up certain topics that will trigger the grandparents’ ire. I have a former friend to whom I could not show such grace; that is why he is now a former friend.

Dunno if it’s been noted here, but some news from Space:

Voyager 1 “phones home”.

The long-distance probe had been silent for several months, but NASA scientists figured out that the issue was a hardware problem in one of V1’s chips, so they came up with a re-programming kludge to store the data elsewhere, beamed the instructions out, and, amazingly, it worked: and Voyager is now sending data back (again).
Not bad for technology that’s A) now nearly a half-century old and B) at the far end of a 22-1/2 hour time lag.

ETA: Ooops, I see Charles was there first in #25. Sorry.

Concerning the “plague of frogs” there is a disagreement among the rabbis whether this plague consisted of swarms and swarms of regular-sized frogs as opposed to one, huge, Godzilla-size frog.

The compromise is that a big Godzilla frog appeared and a bunch of regular-sized frogs swarmed out of its mouth and that’s how this event opened.

They did a really good job with the show - pleasing both gamers and non-gamers alike.

One thing to help you along: The premise of Fallout is that the world adopted nuclear technology for everything and did not fully develop the computer chip. As a result, the world basically stayed in a 1950s cultural vibe. TV remained black and white, while Western-themed movies never went out of style.

DeSantis has one of the highest governor disapproval ratings

The Florida Republican’s 44% disapproval rating ties him for third place, coming in just short of Oregon Democrat Tina Kotek (45%) and Iowa Republican Kim Reynolds (47%), who endorsed DeSantis for president during the GOP primaries.

Floridians are divided over their support for DeSantis, with 51% saying they approve of what he’s done since winning the 2018 gubernatorial election, according to the survey results. That means just 5% of Florida voters are undecided.

The best decision I made was buying a ranch back in 2008 and no longer having to navigate stairs once inside the house. Yes, there are a couple stairs from the garage, but the handrails added by the prior owner makes it a snap to get into the house.

Delta Burke looks back on ‘Designing Women’ exit, and using crystal meth to lose weight

“Designing Women” alum Delta Burke says her “ugly” experience on the hit CBS sitcom drove her away from Los Angeles, and her long-time struggle with her weight led her to use crystal meth to keep off the pounds.

Known for playing the sassy former beauty queen Suzanne Sugarbaker on the 1980s comedy, Burke opened up for the first time in years on “Glamorous Trash,” a celebrity memoir podcast hosted by TV writer and comedian Chelsea Devantez, who revisited Burke’s 1998 book, “Delta Style: Eve Wasn’t a Size 6 and Neither Am I.”

The 67-year-old actor told Devantez how she turned to crystal meth to slim down when she first arrived in Hollywood. She explained that while she was in drama school in London, a doctor gave her pills to help her lose weight, but when she came to the United States, she didn’t realize that the “Black Beauties” that she had been prescribed were illegal stateside.

“They were like medicine to me: take them in the morning so you won’t eat. It wasn’t a recreational thing. After you build up a tolerance to anything and it wasn’t working anymore,” she said, explaining that the Black Beauties eventually stopped working for her and that she had to start using something else.

I think it was King’s College that used to have one hellaciously good classic rock station that had pretty wide coverage (could be gotten up the hill from Camptown), but other than that, it’s a lot…lot…lot of polka. Watched the first episode of Fallout - starting the second now. Granted, I don’t know the game or the plot so I’m just enjoying it as it comes.

So far the show does a remarkable job of including game props, weapons and dark humor (skeletons dying in their death poses offering a guess as to their activities during death).

One big TV omission is that in the game series the nuclear war was against China . The TV show mentions “Reds” as the enemy but steers clear of mentioning China during all the flag-waving hyper-nationalist US themes that are on posters and signs.

In the deeper game lore the CCCP was still around but the war did not involved them at first. However the nuclear war did spread worldwide so as to how the Soviet Union specifically participated was never mentioned.

If you don’t drive like a dick (always do 4 second acceleration, brake hard with your foot instead of using the regenerative), you’ll probably get another set of tires out of the thing. I knew someone who had to replace their battery after 7 years or so but it was an earlier model (2009ish)…but if you’re still getting 200+ miles of range and it runs solid, keep it. Then donate it to Ukraine as they’ll take the 200 or so battery cells out and repurpose them in FPV drones.

re: #95 Hecuba’s daughter

I am worried about voting in Michigan. A friend heard from a cousin who works in politics (nationwide — not particularly in Michigan) that Biden will lose the state because the Muslim community there has so turned against him.

They will protest now, and figure out who will be better in November. It’s not that Biden isn’t doing anything.

Remember, whatever you do, don’t ever reexamine your priors or try to figure out if you’ve become the thing you hate.

That’s squishy Liberal talk, not killing people for wearing a particular scarf. What are you going to tolerate next? It’ll be a free-for-all of not killing people.

Nothing will stop my relatives from voting for Trump.

My mom and stepdad have a “Pray to End Abortion” sign in their yard, so I guess I can chalk that up as two votes for Trump.

Those that don’t have functioning brains think he’s one of them.

The other Republicans refuse to actually look at him, and Fox obliges by not showing him.

Most people do not think deeply about much of anything, living a life of memes, old wive’s tales, metaphors and rules of thumb that generally work in a certain cultural environment. Until that cultural environment changes and they no longer do work. Like animals in a changing ecosystem, the new rule is adapt or die. For humans, the majority must then rely on early adopters and thought leaders (who are supposed to think deeply) to help them transition to the new cultural environment.

Sometimes that choice is the wrong one.

The MAGA have chosen Trump who will lead them into oblivion and collapse (like human versions of dodos), as so many other societies have collapsed for choosing the wrong thought leaders. Much like the Germans did. And the South did. Or the Aztecs.

Luckily, we have many communities that are relying on useful thought leaders and early adopters to navigate the new cultural environment. They are figuring out the complexities of the new world and starting to create the new memes, old wive’s tales, metaphors and rules of thumb needed to survive. And finding increasing success, as the selective advantage of adapting to a new cultural environment are too great compared to the older approaches. Once we complete the transition, because the success of these new approaches provide such selective advantages, these memes, old wive’s tales, metaphors and rules of thumb will be used by the majority to unthinkingly navigate the new cultural environment.

Until a new cultural environment arises and we begin it all over again.

Stella the hawk is a survivor.

She’s blind in one eye from a car crash. She has a chest full of gunshot pellets from a close encounter in West Virginia.

And now, after a tree fell on her home at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Cockeysville, Stella is on the loose.

Baltimore bird lovers are on the lookout for Stella, who is wearing distinctive leather cuffs, in case it wasn’t already clear that she’s one tough bird.

“We’re hoping she gets hungry and comes back,” said Bob Smith, director of the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks. “We’ve searched around the tree and we’re pretty sure she flew away.”

Then donate it to Ukraine as they’ll take the 200 or so battery cells out and repurpose them in FPV drones.

lol, my car gonna last at 150,000 miles or more.
Just had the (original) brakes checked and they are good. If I have to step on the brake 1 time on a trip somewhere then that’s a failed trip.

This sentence seems to be too complicated for way too many people: Israel has the right to defend itself but they need to target Hamas, not just whoever’s in Gaza.

I think they’re targeting people who are Hamas-adjacent. They have an AI evaluating social media, and may have a very loose definition of Hamas-adjacent. We may never know the details of how they choose targets.
