GOP Debate Over Funds (Planned Parenthood)
From an article printed last week, but still worth noting.
From “Vida en el Valle”:
FRESNO — Congressional legislation intended to defund Planned Parenthood would have a devastating impact on Latinos like Rebecca Torres, a 32-year-old full-time nursing student at Sacramento City College.
Torres has a condition that requires her to take birth control medication to obtain the hormones her body lacks. Due to her condition, she also needs regular diabetes and cancer screenings.
Her pre-existing condition has prevented her from accessing health insurance, so Planned Parenthood is one of the only places she can receive her medication, as well as the affordable, quality health care she needs to remain healthy, she said.
“If these services were cut, I really don’t know what I would do,” said Torres, a Sacramento resident. “I use them frequently and it helps me a lot. I don’t know what other place I would go through.”
Emphasis mine. Be sure to click through and read Rep. Devin Nunes’s asinine take on the issue.
