If I’m not mistaken, this is the same jerk who prayed for President Obama’s death, and whose followers showed up at one of Obama’s speeches toting AR’s in an open carry demonstration that just happened to occur shortly after that prayer…

Yup, one and the same. He little (emphasis on little) church is also designated as a hate group too.

I drive past his “church”, actually a suite in an office park, every few days. Even on Sunday, he doesn’t get too many parishioners. Usually there are more protesters. He is the best advertisement for atheism there is.

Only in the media, (and in the GOP) and only that much because they’re the most vocal, obnoxious, and hungry for attention and power. They’re not mainstream. They’re just a failing cultural putsch.

Actually inside the US, there are a lot of Christians who are nowhere near this toxic. It’s true that many are, but I think they are really a minority. What makes them stand out is their large megaphone.

Christians who preach love and charity rarely bring in the crowds. ‘Twas ever so, from Cotton Mather, through Father Coughlin, to this Arizona pastor. “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” has many themes in common with today’s wingnut rhetoric.

I don’t know this man, so I shouldn’t speculate on his motives, but I am deeply distrustful of his ministry.
