I was referring to Perry opposing Obama in the general election, where moderate and independent votes will weigh much more heavily than in the primaries.

Even in the general, I doubt Perry’s being a religious fundy (or at least playing at being one) will count overly against him. Remember, the last Texan in office declared that God had chosen him to lead the nation. It’s not exactly like America’s adverse to putting bible-thumpers in the White House.
