At this point, anyone questioning them by claiming they are “new” raises a bit of a red flag for me into Antivax and denialism territory. They ignore that mRNA vaccines have been studied as an option since the original SARS… what like? 2005? Then had a multi-month study that had 20x the number of people normally in a trial.

I forgot the source now, but I’ve seen it noted that scientists have been working on mRNA vaccines for about 25 years or so - it’s not really all that “new”, it’s just that now they’ve perfected it. Just like how August Daimler is generally credited with inventing the automobile but it was Henry Ford who used the principle of mass production to bring that invention to the masses.
