I don’t think they’re gonna be able to work well with a well-establish franchise that relies a great deal on fan input and moves in directions that movie execs can’t control. Either the fandom’s gonna get get the Trek treatment (“Sorry, but nothing you create anymore is canon”), or reams of C&Ds.
