It has really felt for awhile now like she has been deliberately trying to get Smith to have her bounced from the case but he has instead continued to push forward because doing so would introduce further delay into the case. If that is her plan, then he’s finally hit a wall and there’s no way forward without doing the thing he doesn’t want to do.

In a way, her getting bounced from the case would accomplish exactly what she wants, which is to draw things out as much as possible. Getting a new judge up to speed on the docket would eat up still more time. At this point, we’re already looking at 2025 for a trial.
