re: #102 Ming

I just read that entire article by Pat Buchanan. What a fascinating example of a morality-free zone. It’s as if he’s talking about sports games: Team A (NATO) won most of the games in the past few decades, and Team B (the Warsaw Pact, the USSR, Russia, whatever) needed a comeback.

And here I thought that the people of Russia, and the Ukraine, and Eastern Europe were the ones who >benefited the most when the Cold War ended with a relaxation of the USSR’s dictatorship and its incalculable human miseries. So I see them as winners, while Pat sees them as losers.

You’re a stronger person than I, to wade through Pat Buchanan’s derp. It doesn’t surprise me he sees geopolitics as a kind of big football game. Poor, poor Russia, had to give up all those territories it hoovered up after WWII, so now he thinks it’s time for Russia to re-acquire them because Putin. Also, Obama.

Yet, Pat would squeal like a pig if you accused him of being anti-democratic or anti-American.
