Not quite the same thing, Marvel’s a company, not a franchise. Disney has exerted some control, but it still allows Marvel to operate effectively as an independent company.

You really think that Disney, which has sued people for using Disney in less-than-reputable comics and such, is gonna allow fans to continue to play around in what is now their wholly-owned domain?

I’m talking more about the Marvel movies. They were kicked off in summer of ‘08, and Disney hasn’t done anything to really screw it up.
