The data wasn’t destroyed. For the umpteenth million time.

There is a possibility that about 5% of one set of data from the 1980s from one source isn’t reconstructible.

Since we have data from tons of other sources and tons of different models using tons of different data, it’s a complete non-issue to anyone who doesn’t have an agenda to attack scientists.
