This is different. The government does not have to permit “regularly protesting with guns.” That’s not protected by the first amendment. They can shut that shit down.

An armed protest with a Mohammed insult contest isn’t protected by the first amendment. Might as well have someone in the group fire one shot in the air so everyone can shoot up the mosque in ‘self-defense’…and call it patriotism.
