Turkey: Israeli raid may have “irreparable consequences”

In a strongly worded statement, the Turkish foreign ministry said Monday Israel’s raid of aid vessels headed for Gaza may lead to ”irreparable consequences’ for ties between the two countries.

‘We strongly condemn these inhumane practices of Israel,’ the ministry statement released Monday said, adding Israel had shot on innocent civilians.

‘This deplorable incident, which took place in open seas and constitutes a fragrant breach of international law, may lead to irreparable consequences in our bilateral relations,’ it continued.

… it becomes clear that the goals of the flotilla have been realized.

Again, though, this claim of “fragrant [sic] breach of international law” may not be technically correct.
