That will be a labor of true love. The longer a car sits, the harder it is to restore. If the engine has not been run in a long while, the gasoline has probably dried to a kind of varnish in the carb(s), and those will need overhauling. Plus, the cylinder walls have probably rusted a bit and/or the rings have rusted to the walls, so squirting some penetrating oil into each cylinder before you crank the engine is advised.

Both of those are in the plan, along with a bunch of other things (changing all the fluids, checking the hoses, changing the belts, new tires). I’m a pretty fair hand at all things mechanical after spending my formative years in my dad’s barn, maintaining his fleet of antique John Deere tractors. Their carbs are a lot more primitive than the one on this car, but the operating principle is the same and most of it is just gasket work and cleaning all the little micro-passages.
