I gave up on digital cameras a few years for talking pictures of instruments because they alter the color too much. It’s very important for me to have accurate color. Have cameras gotten significantly better in the past few years?

Yep, you don’t have to do that fancy move of removing the lens cap and then slapping it back on quickly. They got this shutter thing now.
