That was I, and I still think it was a bad idea at the time, unnecessary considering how far we were from being able to institute it even if Beto had won, and likely to alienate more people than it would win over. It was too deep, not too soon of course since there had already been many massacres, but premature in the sense that Texas voters were not ready for it. Cruz certainly exploited it. I also didn’t like the confrontational style, reinforcing the insane Repug fantasy that Democrats are hell bent on confiscating all guns. It would have been better to introduce the idea of restrictions on new sales combined with a buy back. Things change
