I keep seeing speculative explanations why Meta’s ban party was a mistake; they’ve convinced me it was intentional.

Meta couldn’t have a fully automated system that aggressive, every site not whitelisted would be constantly banned. Someone had to manually confirm banning 2nd & 3rd order links.
