Appears that all the “states rights ” emphasis of late is showing up in many different ways across the country. Interesting.

Jaw-dropping racism aside, it’s also spectacularly stupid.

Offering license forms and other documents in multiple languages is a matter of federal law. Alabama is welcome to offer them only in English, but doing so would forfeit all federal transportation funding. Given that Alabama (indeed every Southern state) receives a great deal more federal money than they pay in taxes, such a move would be entirely ill-advised.

You would think someone running for Governor would understand this basic fact of how his state works.
