A proposal in North Dakota to shield schools and teachers from lawsuits arising from posting the Ten Commandments in classrooms is unconstitutional and would spur costly and unwinnable legal fights, attorneys and education officials told state lawmakers Wednesday.
I recall when this issue came up under the GW Bush administration. Some smartass journalist (probably one with a couple of semesters of Comparative Religion under his belt) asked the Prez which translation of the Ten Commandments should be used.
To which Bush replied βThe standard oneβ.
He did not clarify what he meant by that, but I assume in his pea brain he meant the King James one with all the Thou-shalt-nots.
