The funny part is that at the time that ad was made the M-16 was still being derided as a “Mattel Toy”. The M-16A1, better troop training, and better ammo repaired the M16’s reputation over time, but in the early 1970’s it was still under something of a cloud due to the original M-16’s troubles in Vietnam.
