If the government must shut down over this and I hope to whatever, it does not, I hope that this ruins the GOP in the court of public opinion. They’d have done this twice now should it occur. I don’t know what it is about the Republican Party but they’ve gone down a nasty path since Eisenhower was president. The party that once could call itself the party of Lincoln, TR, and Ike is now the party of Louie Gohmert, Michelle Bachmann, and Steve King. Instead of statesmen, they have hacks who prefer doing the bidding of a loud 30% of the country who will oppose anything President Obama does simply because they despise everything about President Obama from his party, his skin color, his city/state of origin, and everything in between.

I’m waiting for the inevitable historical revisionism where every government shutdown has been due to the Democrats failing to compromise and absolutely forcing the Republicans’ hand.

Preferably delivered by Senator Graham so I can get some quality Jon Stewart swoons out of it.
